He graduated from Bishop Duffy High School and Niagara County Community College. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Munitions Crew Chief from 1966-1970. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Stationed for 1 and a half years in Thailand, he was involved in operations against enemy forces in Vietnam. He was awarded The Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, with a Bronze Star, The National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He also earned the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Outstanding Unit Ribbon, The Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, The Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Air Force Missile Badge. His hobbies included coin collecting, playing chess, solving mathematical and word puzzles, bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening and going to the casinos. He worked for myriad plants, Seneca Niagara Casino, and City and State jobs in the area and received many letters of recommendation from each one. He was known as a prolific writer and several of his articles were published in National Magazines. He was a member of the American Legion LaSalle Post #1142 and a past member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #346 and the LaSalle Sportsman Club. He married his High School sweetheart, and was married for forty six years to Barbara (Zahno). He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His primary goals in life were ways and means to please others. He was best-known for his generosity; always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, without expecting anything in return.
