Leon J. Taylor, 67, of 2397
Old Falls Boulevard, Town of
Wheatfield, died this morning
(Dec. 26,1969) in Roswell Park
Memorial Institute, Buffalo, after
a lengthy illness.
Born in Watertown, he had
lived in this area for.50 years.
He was a brakeman with the
New York Central Railroad and
retired in 1958. Mr. Taylor was
a member of the Switchmen
Union and of the Bergholtz
Volunteer Fire Co.
Survivors include his widow,
Mae Starner Taylor; two
daughters, Mrs. M e 1 v i n
(Shirley) Motzler, Youngstown,
and Mrs. Roger (Carol) Moretz
of Grand IsJand; a son, Eldwin
Tay'or of Sanborn; a sister,
Mrs. Roy Towne of Newfane,
and five grandchildren.
Private funeral services will
be held in the Chapel of
Memorial Park Cemetery Monday
at 11 a.m. The Rev. Willard
A. Mason of the Free Methodist
Church will officiate.
Contributions to Roswell Park
Memorial Institute will be ac
ceptoble as tribute, the family
said.

Mr. aad Mra. Roy A. Towne, of the
Adams Center road was struck by an
automobile driven by William Roaby
of Norfolk at 6:30 Sunday night and
fatally Injured.
The accident was said by eye witnesses
to be unavoidable. There
waa a atriag of several cars paeslag.
Two children ran down the road and
seeing a chance, darted acroea to
the other- side. They were followed
by the little Towne lad, who hesitated
while one car passed. Another,
the one which struck him was about
20 feet behind the first As soon aa
the first car which was driven by
Dr. O. A. Foote of Dexter had passed,
the lad ran into the path of the
approaching car. Roaby. the driver,
turned clear into the ditch on the
left hand side of the road la aa attempt
to avoid the accident but
could not.
The little fellow was struck by
the right hand fender of the car and
knocked to the road. The fall broke
hia left leg and caused other severe
injuries, resulting ln concussion of
the brain.
The driver of the car collapsed
and could do nothing to aid the boy.
Dr. Foote, who aaw the accident, returned
and rendered first aid. He
then took the lad to the Mercy hospital
arriving there a little after
He waa assisted there by Dr. Maurice
D. Barnette. The boy's leg was
set and he regained consciousness
and rallied for a short time. It waa
believed then that he would survive.
However, the boy waa suffering
from a severe concussion ot the
brain, and his life faded out at about
8:30.
Robert Towne was the only son of
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Towne. They
have three other children, Leona,
Laura and Jeanette. Mrs. Towne
waa formerly Miss Iola Taylor of
Watertown.

Elwin R. Taylor Printer, Army vet, in American Legion CAMBRIA - Elwin R. Taylor, 63, of Lower Mountain Road, formerly of Wilson, died Saturday (July 11,1992) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Town of Lewiston. Born in Niagara Falls, he worked at Bell Aerospace as a printer for 36 years. He retired in October 1988. Taylor was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion Post 1451 and Amvets. He belonged to the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 830 in Niagara Falls. He is survived by his wife, Martha E. (Shenk) Taylor of Cambria; two daughters, Richele Cramer of Sanborn and Lisa Moon of Ransomville; a son, Jack Taylor of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Darlene Walck of the Town of Niagara; a granddaughter; an uncle; and a niece and two nephews. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Dubois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz, where the Rev. David Wurster will conduct services at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 1451.

She also worked as a secretary at Voyager for five years, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston for 10 years and at Staff Builders for 15 years.
Mrs. Walck was a longtime member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, where she was a former treasurer.
She enjoyed cooking and canning and was a Sabres hockey fan.
Her husband of 48 years, Roger A., died in 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Brian R. and Bruce M., and a daughter, Cindy Y. Engle. Services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Wheatfield.

Shirley M. (Taylor) Metzler of Ransomville, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2017.  She was 82.  She was born in Niagara Falls on June 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Leon and Mae E. (Sterner) Taylor. She graduated from LaSalle High School and then worked as a nurse’s aide at Stella Niagara for many years.
She enjoyed making gift cards for her daughters' company, BisketBaskets.com, loved to do scrapbooking and gardening but her greatest joy was her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband Melvin Metzler and four daughters: Linda (Robert) Leggett, Sherry ("Chip”) Davis, Melody (Timothy) Curry and Gail (fiancé Steven Coopwood) Bohall.  She is also survived by her sister Carol (Dr. Roger) Moretz, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls on Tuesday from 5-8 PM with funeral services being held at 8 immediately following the visitation.  Burial will be on Thursday in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Julian, Pennsylvania.
