    A Niagara Falls man died yesterday
    afternoon less than 48 hours
    after his daughter died while visit-
    ing him at Memorial hospital. He
    is Biagio Ferrari, 79, of 471 Twenty-
    first street.
    Saturday his daughter, Mrs. Jes-
    sie Tcdesco, was stricken at his bed-
    side and died a few minutes later.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Tedesco
    were held this morning at the Amato
    Funeral home. She was buried in
    St. Joseph's cemetery.
    Mr. Ferrara, a native of Italy,
    came to this country with his family
    46 years ago. He was retired from
    the Carborundum company.
    Surviving are his wife, Liboria
    Ferrara; three daughters, Mrs. Ventura
    Tarrenti, Mrs. Nicholas Vilardo
    and Mrs. Vito Scime, all of Niagara
    Falls; nine grandchildren and six
    great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services for Mr. Ferrara
    also are being handled by the Amato
    Funeral home.

    Mary E. (Ferrara) Vilardo, 96 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday May 9, 2015 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Biagio and Liboria (Barone) Ferrara.

    Mary was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. She attended local schools and graduated with honors from Niagara Falls High School in 1937. On April 19, 1941, she married Nicholas J. Vilardo at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Vilardo predeceased her on June 19, 1988. Mary was employed at several local companies which included, the former Niagara Searchlight Company, Beir’s Brothers, DiCamillo Bakery and retired from Niagara Mohawk. Mary was a devout Catholic and member of the Anime Sante Del Purgatorio Society of St. Joseph’s Church as well as the Ladies Cristoforo Colombo Society. Above all, Mary will be remembered as a loving and generous mother and grandmother.

    Mrs. Vilardo is survived by her two sons, Nicholas S.J. (Barbara) Vilardo and Ronald B. (Cathy) Vilardo both of Niagara Falls, NY, four grandchildren, Michael (Karen) Vilardo, Maria Vilardo, Anthony (Cheryl) Vilardo and Lisa (Daniel) Supon, four great-grandchildren, Miranda Vilardo, Carmella Vilardo, Catherine Vilardo and Lyla Supon, her sisters-in-law, Lucy DeDario and Marie Fillicetti, brother-in-law, Salvatore “Tommy” Vilardo, nieces, Anne Conte, Margie Ballanger, Lucy Taibi and nephew Joseph Saia. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Jessie Tedesco, Jennie Terenti and Constance Scime Conti.

    Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday May 13th with a time and place to be announced. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston, NY.     Joseph A. Saia, 94, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Angelo and Jessie (Ferrara) Saia. Joseph graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School and attended metallurgical school in Chicago. He served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1945. On April 22, 1951, he married his beloved wife, Irene (Bartolomei) Saia at St. Joseph Church. Joseph was employed at Union Carbide as a Metallurgist for over 34 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Saia was a passionate golfer and longtime member of Niagara Frontier Golf Club. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, as well as playing badminton in his younger years. Joseph also loved music and playing the organ.

    In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his daughter Susan Saia and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Lucy (Saia) Taibi and his infant sister Margie Saia. Visitation will be on Friday, September 14th from 4 – 8 P.M. at M.J.     Lucy Marie Taibi, 95, a Niagara Falls native and former resident of Lewiston, died Sunday, July 30, at her home in Davie, FL following a short illness. She was surrounded by the loving family she created at the time of her death. Lucy was born August 10, 1921, in Niagara Falls. She graduated from Trott Vocational High School in 1940. Lucy was married to James T. Taibi. who predeceased her. They resided in Lewiston and raised three children, daughters Lynda (James) Hinckley, and Elaine (Robert) Aaron, and a son David (Barbara) Taibi. Lucy is also survived by her brother, Joseph Saia of Lewiston NY, eight loving grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 2401 S. University Drive in Davie, FL on Thursday, August 3, from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 5, at 11 AM at St. David's RC Church, 3900 S. University Drive in Davie FL. Lucy will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery beside her husband of 52 years. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Salvation Army, or Vitas Hospice are welcomed.

    Ronald ‘Ron’ B. Vilardo, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on November 24, 2021 surrounded by his family under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Ferrara) Vilardo.
    Ron graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1969 and later attended SUNY Geneseo.  On November 26, 1977, he married Cathy V. (Certo) Vilardo at St. Teresa's Church in Niagara Falls, NY.  Ron was employed for 43 years as a Sales Supervisor with Certo Brothers Distributors in Niagara Falls and Buffalo, NY, retiring in 2019.  Ron was a longtime member of Niagara Frontier Country Club, a former coach and member of the Board of Directors for Whirlpool Park Little League, and the former Chairman of the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club Auction, as well as a member of the Pine Avenue Business Association.  "Ronnie V" was an avid golfer, and loved laughing with his friends.  Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
    In addition to his wife of 44 years, Ron is survived by his children, Anthony (Cheryl) Vilardo and Lisa (Dan) Supon; his grandchildren, Carmella Vilardo, Kate Vilardo, and Lyla Supon; his brother, Nicholas (late Barbara) Vilardo, NFFD Ret.; his mother-in-law, Natalie (late Henry ‘Hank’) Certo, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was the brother-in-law to the late Peter I. (Rose) Certo, Hank (Shayne) Certo, Jr., Marie (Ken) DeMont, Joe (Nancy) Certo, Ken (Tracy) Certo, Dr. Margaret (Joe) Certo, and Mark (Kristin) Certo.  The family would like to thank dear friends Joe Sarkees, Anthony Antonacci, and Steve Conte for all their help and love.

    NIAGARA FALLS — Charles A. Scime, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 26, 2014, under the care of Niagara Hospice. He was born on September 7, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Vito and Constance (Ferrara) Scime.

    Charles graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1943. A member of the "Greatest Generation", he served honorably in the United States Army, 107th Medical Battalion, from March 29, 1944 until his honorable discharge on July 27, 1946. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations, Phillipine Liberation, receiving 2 bronze battle stars and a Purple Heart. On September 11, 1948, he married the love of his life, Doreen (Infelise) Scime in Toronto, Ontario. Mrs. Scime predeceased him on April 13, 2003.

    Charles worked as a metallurgist for the Union Carbide Corporation and Linde in Niagara Falls, NY. He retired and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends, both in Niagara Falls and Florida. His passion to entertain with jokes and Orgami Cranes and Wish Boxes will be remembered by many. Charles was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters (ISDA) Cataract Lodge #240, Italian American War Veterans and other organizations.

    Charles is survived by two children, Charleen Scime of Niagara Falls, NY and Mark (Deborah Winker) Scime of Winter Garden, FL; four grandsons, Anthony and Vincent (Jennifer) Gallo and Michael and Daniel (Angela) Scime; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann (late Nicholas) Conte; and aunt, Mary (late Nicholas) Vilardo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Saturday, February 1st at 11:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th St. and Independence Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. Entombment with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls.     Anna Mae Conte, 94, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on August 19, 2022, surrounded by her family, at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Vito and Constance (Ferrara) Scime.
    Anna Mae graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School.  On November 6, 1948, she married Nicholas F. Conte at St. Joseph Church.  Mr. Conte predeceased her on December 8, 2002.  Anna Mae was employed at Nabisco from 1945 to 1950 and later at K-Mart from 1968 until her retirement in 1988.
    Among her many talents in arts and crafts, Danish Needle painting was her favorite.  Her caring and loving disposition will always be remembered, as will her sense of humor that shined with everyone she came in contact with.  Throughout her life, she gave and received so much love.
    Anna Mae is survived by her children, Stephen (Rosemary) Conte, Connie Smith and Michael Conte; her grandchildren, Justin Smith, Carly (Gary) Robson, Nicholas Smith, Stella Conte and Abagail Conte; her great grandchildren, Lucas and Evan Robson, as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins, she shared a special relationship with her niece, Charleen Scime.
    In addition to her husband of 54 years, she was predeceased by her brother, Charles (late Doreen) Scime.
