LOCKPORT — A l b e r t W.
Kraatz, 91, a retired Town of
Cambria farmer, died Sunday
(March 30, 1958), at the home of
a son, Fred W. Kraatz, 188 Park
Ave. He had been ill for about a
week.
Mr. Kraatz was born Feb. 16,
1867, at Wolcottsville, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Kraatz. He had
operated a farm at Molyneaux
Corners all of his adult life. He
retired 25 years ago when he
moved here.
He is survived by three daughters,
Mrs. Grant Townsend, Mrs.
Percy Smith, both of Lockport,
and Mrs. Paul Everett, Buffalo:
two sons, Fred W. and Edward
Kraatz, Lockport, and 17 grandchildren
and 50 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Herbert. L. Siegner,
pastor of the United Church of
Christ, will conduct services at 11
a.m. Wednesday at the Taylor and
Reynolds Funeral Home. Burial
will be in North Ridge Cemetery.

LOCKPORT - Edward Kraatz, 71, of 232 Chestnut St., died today (June 22, 1965) in Lockport Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born Jan. 22, 1894, in the Town of Royalton and had lived here the last 24 years. A production employe at the Upson Co., here, for 15 years, he retired in 1959. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Abbie Wollaber Kraatz; a son, Harold W. Kraatz, Lockport; two daughters, Mrs. Woodrow (Dorothy) Rathman, Cheektowaga; and Mrs. Harry (Elinor) Shortsleve, Lockport; seven grandchildren; a brother, Fred Kraatz, Lockport; and three sisters, Mrs. Percy Smith and Mrs. Grant Townsend, both of Lockport, and Mrs. Paul Everett, Buffalo. Friends may call at the Gaul Funeral Home. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by Rev. Donald M. Peck, pastor of Emmanuel Methodist Church. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Townsend Dies At Age 68 Mrs. Grant (Frances S.) Townsend, 68, of 4136 Lake Ave., a retired Harrison worker, died Wednesday (March 23,1 1966) at Inter - Community Memorial Hospital at Newfane. Born in the Town of Cambria on Oct. 26, 1897, she was the daughter of Albert and Minnie Dohring Kraatz. Mrs. Townsend was employed for many years in assembly work at the Harrison Radiator Division. General Motors Corp. and retired several years ago. Surviving are her husband; two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Robert T. Swift of Newfane, Mrs. Clarence C. King; Robert F. and Charles H. Townsend, all of Lockport; one brother and two sisters, Fred Kraatz and Mrs. Percy B. Smith, both of Lockport and Mrs. Paul Everett of Buffalo; also 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Beginning this evening. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gordon R. William E. Kraatz passed away on Saturday November 26, 2016, in Absolut of Gasport. Born in Cambria, NY on May 7, 1926, he was the son of the late Frederick and Helen Weigand Kraatz. William served in the Merchant Marines from 1944-1947, and then went work for Columbus McKinnon from 1949 until 1952. He also was the owner/operator of William E. Kraatz Construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. William also volunteered at the Sr. Loretto Food Pantry and was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He is predeceased by his wife Doris (nee Oliver) Kraatz, who passed away on December 27, 2010.


William was the father of Carolyn (Tim) Henderson, Diane (John) Schwenz, Ellen (Gary) Larson, Jeff (Donna) Kraatz, Margaret Kraatz, Mark (Ann) Kraatz, Daniel (Jacqueline) Kraatz and Molly (Thomas) Budde and step father of the late Mark (late Mary) Oliver and the late Robert (Cheryl) Oliver; grandfather of twenty-one and several great grandchildren; also survived by several nieces and nephews. William was the brother of Walter, Helen Robozzi, David, Douglas and the late Lorraine Townsend Meyers, Joseph, Donald and Irene Knoop Snediker.

Elinor was born in Warrens Corners on May 29, 1921. Daughter of the late Edward and Abigail Wollaber Kraatz. Elinor was a member of the Cambria Historical Society and an RV Club for many years. She loved playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren.

MIDDLEPORT - David P. Knoop of Middleport passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at his home. He had lived all of his life in Middleport.

David was born in Lockport, NY on March 9, 1968, son of the late Robert and Irene (Kraatz) Knoop and he attended Royalton Hartland.

He and his wife, Laurene (Taylor) Knoop, were married August 17, 1990. He was employed at Barnes Metal Finishing in Medina, NY and he enjoyed spending time with his family, riding motorcycles and repairing them. He also enjoyed music.

David is survived by his wife, Laurene Knoop; two children, Amanda (Alex) Knoop and Collin Knoop, all of Middleport; one granddaughter, Audrey Lynn Upton, also of Middleport; five brothers and sisters, Kathleen (Gary) Mullen of Lockport, Robert (Margaret) Knoop of Florida, Theresa (Kevin) Kirkpatrick, Lynn Kwiatkowski, both of Middleport, and Mary Beth (David) Litchfield of Tennessee. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a 50 year member of South Wilson Fire Co. He was also a member of the Wilson town zoning board and the Wilson Conservations Club.

Donald served as a Health Care Administrator in the New York City area for many years, retiring in 2005.

David Barlow Swift of Burt, NY passed away on July 18, 2017 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, New York. He was born on April 15, 1947 in Lockport, NY, son of the late Robert and Genevieve Townsend Swift. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran serving in the Army as a Spec 4 during the Tet Offensive where he received the bronze star and the distinguished Soldiers Medal for bravery when he dove into a raging river saving the lives of Vietnamese children. After serving in the war he returned to his position at Harrison Radiator where he retired. He had a passion for antique cars and was one of the founders of the Olcott Cruise Night. He also enjoyed boating and fly-fishing on Lake Alice and operated a booth at Gordy Harper’s Bazaar specializing in classic vinyl records. He is survived by his fiancée Cindy Culverwell of Burt, NY, his daughter Amy Cummings (Lockport, NY) and son Ronald (Wende) Swift (Appleton, NY), four grand children; Brooke and Jameson Cummings of Gasport, NY and Andrew and Kevin Swift of Appleton, NY, sister Sue Ann (Douglas) Brown (Newfane, NY), step-daughter Hayley Lippman (Burt, NY) several nieces and nephews and life long friend Richard Leddy of Murfeesboro,TN. He was born Feb. 13, 1943, the son of the late Robert and Norma Cochran Townsend. 
After graduating from Newfane Central School, Dan enlisted in the Navy, where he served from 1961 to 1964, stationed at Patuxant, Maryland.
He retired from Delphi in 2002. He enjoyed working on old cars and participating in car shows, being a member of the Harrison Car Club and Niagara Cruisers. He enjoyed his grandchildren, and crafted little vehicles for them to ride around in on the farm. In later years, he crafted tiny lawn ornament airplanes, whose propellers twirled in the wind. He loved football and Nascar.
He is survived by his wife, Avis, a son, Jeffrey, and a daughter, Kimberly (Justin) Walker, both of California, two step children, Amy (Kevin) Pedley of Lockport and Ronald (Wende) Swift of Burt. He is also survived by his sister, Shelly Stranges of Lockport, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by a loving friend, Linette Pipiles. He was predeceased by his brother, Larry. 
There will be no visitation. Private services will be held for family and friends.
