The body of Mrs. Augusta Karkau,
70 years old, a former resident of
North Tonawanda. will arrive here this
evening from Sanford, Fla., where she
d i e d Thursday at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. William J. Doyle, where
she had been living the past year.
Rites will be held Tuesday afternoon
at 2:30 o'clock from the home of an-
other daughter, Mrs. Amelia Baker,
2 2 5 Miller street. Burial will be in
St. Matthew's cemetery. Mrs. Karkau
was bom in Germany. For 40 years
she resided in North Tonawanda. Besides
the two daughters named she
leaves a third daughter, Mrs. Herbert
Ensminger, Tonawanda; three sons,
Paul, William and Edwin Wankasky,
all of North Tonawanda, and 12
grandchildren survive.

A member of the Salem Evangelical
and Reformed church, he is

Werth; two sons, Myron and Maynard
Werth; two daughters, Mrs.
Wilford" McMillen and Miss Arllne
Wenh; two granchildren, all of the

at a Buffalo hospital after a
long illness.

and was the husband of the
late Mrs. Katherine Reichert,
who died in 1953.

75, died at Seminole Memorial
Hospital on Wednesday (Aug. 5).
Born in Tonawanda on April 2,
1890, she made her home in Os-
teen, Fla., for the past 40 years.
She was the wife of the late Wil-
liam L. Doyle Sr. Surviving are
three children, Mrs. Leslie°Bur-
gess and Mrs. Harriet Arenz
both of Tonawanda and William
J. Doyle Jr. of Daytona Beach,
Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia
Barnes of North Tonawanda and
Mrs. Herbert Ensminger of Ton-

Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of
this city and a member of
Payne Avenue Christian
Church. Her husband, James.
C. Barnes, predeceased her.
She is survived by three sons,
Robert L. Barnes, Kenneth
Barnes and William J. Barnes,
all of the Tonawandas; 'two
brothers, Edwin Wankowsky of

He was employed for 18 years
by the former Buffalo Bolt Co.
retiring 10 years "ago. His wife,
the former Mary Probst died
in 1955.
Mr. Wankasky is survived by
two sons, Marlyn and Bernard
Wankasky of the Tonawandas;
two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence
Penzein of Imlay City, Michigan
and Mrs. Harold Cross of Port

Allan E. Werth, age 91 of Bergholz, in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, was called peacefully to his heavenly home on October 9, 2023 at his residence. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on February 27, 1932; the son of Arnold and Myrtle (Heppner) Werth. Allan served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed for forty years as an accountant at Columbus McKinnon, in North Tonawanda, until his retirement. A longtime member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church; he enjoyed hunting, playing cards and dominos. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey M. (Storbeck) Werth on March 5, 2023; a son, Gary Werth; and sister, Shirley Miller.Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Frank) Yeamans, and Darla Werth (Matthew Shields); eight grandchildren, Nicole Carlson, Chad Ammon, Erica Carlson, Kevin Romero, Jessica Werth, Brandon Mincey, Melissa Werth, and Allison Werth; four great-grandchildren, Josh Ammon, Devyn Romero, Emily Ammon, and Benjamin Mincey; and a great-great-grandson, Levi Ammon.Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Road and Luther Street in Bergholz.
