    SANBORN, Nov. Mrs Georgia
    Ann Treichler, 77. of the Saunders
    Settlement road, died Saturday evening
    at a convalescent home at
    Lockport where she had been a
    patient for a week. Mrs. Treichler
    was the wife of the late Benjamin
    W. Treichler.
    She is survived by two daughters,
    Mrs. Hugo Ferchen. of Niagara Falls.
    and Mrs. Georgia Wagner, of the
    Saunders Settlement road; two sons.
    Ray and Arthur Treichler, both of
    the Brldgtman road. Sanborn: nine
    grandchlldren, and two great grandchildren;
    one sister. Mrs. Mercy
    Storrett, of Los Angeles. Calif, and
    several nieces and nephews. Her
    husband died in 1934.
    Mrs. Treichler was a daughter
    of the late Susan Rose and Samuel
    Vail and was born in Oakfield,
    Gene.«ee county. When a voting
    girl she came here to live at the
    home of the grandparents, the late
    Mr. and Mrs. George Rose, the
    present home of Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
    liam Wendt. in the Saunders Settle-
    ment road. She was married in
    1888. Mrs. Treichler was a mem-
    ber of the Methodist church and
    was formerly active in its women's
    organizations.
    The funeral will be held tomorrow
    afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
    home of the daughter. Mrs. Wagner,
    with whom she had been making her
    home. The Rev. E. H. Hammond. of
    the Sanborn Methodist church, w 11
    officiate. Interment will be in Mt
    View cemetery. Pekin.

    of Mrs. Marion Vail Haines, 70, on
    Tuesday, March 10, at her home at
    Ucayja, Calif. She was the wife of
    the late David Haines who died
    about 10 years ago.
    Surviving are two sons, Irving
    and Eugene Haines, and a daugh-
    ter, Mrs. Susan Neigh, all of Cali-
    fornia; three sisters, Mrs. Mertie
    Sterritt, of Toronto, Ont., Mrs.
    Anna Treichler, of Bridgeman road,
    Sanborn, and Mrs. Mary Heath, of
    Niagara Falls, and four grand-
    children.
    Mrs. Haines was the daughter of
    the late Susan Rose and Samuel
    Vail and was born in Oakfield, N.Y.
    When a girl she lived for seveeral
    years with her grandparents, the
    late Mr. and Mrs. George D. Rose
    in Saunders Settlement road. At
    the time of her marriage she lived in
    Niagara Falls which was her home
    before going to California about
    15 years ago.

    A memorial service for Bessie Ferchen, 101, will be held at 4 P.M. Oct. 20 in Sanborn United Methodist Church, 5816 Buffalo St., Sanborn.
    Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Pekin.
    Mrs. Ferchen died Sept. 23, 1990, in the Beechwood Nursing Home, Amherst, where she had lived for the past three years. Before that, she had lived in the Blocher Home in Williamsville.
    The former Bessie Treichler graduated from the Teachers Normal School in Middleport and taught in the Cambria School District and the Tuscarora Indian Reservation School.
    She and her late husband, Hugo Ferchen, taught music to their five children and formed a family orchestra. They also performed together in church choirs, in community marching bands and in choral societies.
    She became a Gold Star mother when two of their sons, Walter and Richard, were killed in 1943 while serving in World War II.
    Mrs. Ferchen was a member of Flagler Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 969; the Retired Teachers Association, and Williamsville United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include a son, James of Florida; two daughters, Christine Stumpf of California and Laura Martin; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren

    a long illness.
    He was born here July 13,
    1893, son of the late Benjamin
    W. and Georgia anna Vail
    Treichler. He owned and op-
    erated a farm in Bridgeman
    Rd. and had been a plant
    guard at the Bonded Abrasives
    Division of the Carborundum
    Co. for 22 years, retiring last
    August.
    Mr. Treichler was a member
    of Sanborn Methodist Church.
    Survivors include his wife,
    Ethel Treichler; a brother, Ar-
    thur Treichler, Sanborn; and
    two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Fer-
    chen, Sanborn, and Mrs.
    Georgia Bullock, Niagara Falls,

    With the Service: Walter F. Ferchen
    Lieutenant Walter F. Ferchen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo C. Ferchen 1115 Haeberie avenue, who has been reported missing since July 11 in North Africa. Lieutenant Ferchen was navigator with the Army Air Toop Command. Twenty–eight years old, he was graduated from the Niagara Falls high school in 1933 and from Houghton college in music in 1938. While at Houghton he was a member of the a Capella chorus and was baritone soloist of the Oratorio chorus and baritone with the Houghton college quartette, traveling extensively in eastern states. After his graduation he had charge of vocal music for four years at the Cuba, N.Y. Central high school and was assistant organist and choir director at the Cuba Methodist church leader of the Methodist Young People and secretary of the Genesee District Musical Festival. He was a music steduent of Professor Halstead and Professor Smith of Lockport, N.Y. Lieutenant Ferchen enlisted in the Army Air corps in May 1942 and left Niagara Falls on August 12 for Nashville, Tenn. He was sent to Monroe, Ala. And from there to Coral Gables, Florida, where he received his wings and was commissioned a second lieutenant on March 27 last as a navigator. Assigned to the Army Air Troop Command he left for North Africa last April 25. His last letter home was dated July 4. No further word has been received from his younger brother, Richard, radio man second class, who was reported missing on February 1 of this year. Another brother, James is employee as flight instructor in Army War Training Service Program at Lee Airfield, Lockport. Beside their three sons Mr. and Mrs. Ferchen have two daughters, Laura and Christine at home.

    Falls Navigator Presumed Killed
    Previously reported as missing, Second Lieutenant Walter F. Ferchen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo C. Ferchen. of 1115 Haeberle avenue, today was listed as killed ln action
    while serving with the United States Army Air Forces. A navigator, he was reported missing in Africa on July 11 and has not been heard of since that time. A brother, Richard Ferchen. radioman second class with the United States Navy, was listed as missing ln action on February 1, 1943, and also Is presumed to have been killed.

    James A. Ferchen
    One of Niagara Falls’ leading businessmen, James A. Ferchen, passed away in Arizona this last week. He was 91. After building the Francis Optical Co. into a very successful business, he turned the business over to his son, Richard Ferchen and went to Florida. After a few years in Florida, where he worked part time in the Sears Optical Department, he retired and later moved to Arizona to be near his daughter, Peggy Smith. During the second World War, Mr. Ferchen was an instructor in the Air Cadets in Niagara University. When he married Myrtle Emms, they started square dancing and round dancing. They became very well known for their beautiful dancing in the Western New York area and also in Florida when they moved there. In addition to his wife of 66 years, Mr. Ferchen is survived by two sons, Timothy and Richard; two daughters, Denise Cohen and Peggy Smith; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held in the Vistoso Community Church in Sun City, AZ on Monday, October 8, 2007.

    Richard Hugo Ferchen. 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo C. Ferchen. of 1115 Haeberle avenue, who has been reported by the Navy department as missing in action.
    Born in Sanborn. N. Y , the youth was a resident of that village until the time of his enlistment in the navy three years ago. Since the notice from the Navy department reported the youth as missing, several letters have been received from the radioman. His parents and other members of the family have hopes that he is still alive. He is a graduate of the LaSalle high school and is a member of the a capella choir of that school and of the choir at the First Methodist church prior to his enlistment. He is a radio mechanic, second class. The youth has two brothers. Walter, an air cadet at
    Coral Gables, Fla . and James, a CAP inspector at Lee Airfield Lockport N. Y . and two sisters Laura and Christine.

Descendant of Jairus Rose and Daniel Treichler. A member of church choirs for most of her life. UCLA graduate. Formerly active in the Girl Scouts, PTA, Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, United Women in Faith (formerly UMW), and the Wesley Foundation. Enjoyed flowers and gardening. Wife of 64 years to the late Larry R. Stumpf. Survived by children Linda (Christopher) Preston, Justin Stumpf, Diana Stumpf, and Nancy (Michael) Steinkraus; grandsons William (Jada) Preston and Andrew Stumpf. Predeceased by brothers Walter and Richard Ferchen (both died in World War II), Jim (late Myrtle) Ferchen, and sister Laura (late Harry) Martin.     She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on October 29, 1934, the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy [Albertson] Treichler.

    Mrs. Jasinski grew up in Sanborn and graduated from Wilson High School. She was employed with Kimberly Clark, Treichler's greenhouses and was a real estate agent with Kivi Realty and later with Hunt Reality.
    Mrs. Jasinski was a former VIP with the Girl Scouts. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening, painting, reading and playing cards.

    She is survived by three daughters Joanna (fiancé of Craig Faulring) Jasinski of Lockport, Barbara J. (James) Faller of Sanborn and Maria (Kevin) Marshall of Niagara Falls.


    Her family will be present on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where a memorial service will be held at 8:00 PM, with Rev. Robert S. Hughson officiating.

    Annette Joan (Wagner) Schultz passed on May 22, 2018 in Northgate Health Care Facility after a long illness. Born on December 24, 1932 at home in LaSalle, NY, she was a daughter of the late Raymond L. and Georgia R. (Treichler) Wagner. Annette graduated from Wilson Central School and lived in Wilson for 68 years.
    Annette worked as a Niagara County Home Health Aide until her retirement. She directed the choir at North Ridge United Methodist Church for many years. Annette was a charter member of the South Wilson Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee for over 50 years with her Yahtzee club.
    She was preceded in death by husband, Allan H Schultz; son, Roger A. Schultz; daughter, Suzanne L. Schulz; brothers, Roland and Paul; and sister, Helen. She is survived by daughters, Deborah Clark and Kathleen Donner (Michael); sons, Wayne Schultz (Sue Balcom) and Tom Schultz (Barb Stevens); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be at the on Tuesday, May 29th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Hamilton & Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young St., Wilson, NY. A service will be held on Wednesday May 30th at 11 AM at North Ridge United Methodist Church, 3930 North Ridge Rd., Lockport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Ridge United Methodist Church, 3930 North Ridge Rd., Lockport, NY or South Wilson Volunteer Fire Company, 4194 Chestnut Road, Wilson, NY.
