    who died this morning after an illness
    of several months, will be held
    from the home at 9:30 o'clock Wed-
    nesday morning and at Our Lady of
    Lebanon church at 10 o'clock.
    A resident of this city for the last
    35 years. Mr. Vllardo was a retired
    employe of the Union Carbide
    company. He is survived by his wife,
    Grace R. Vllardo, and by eight chil-
    dren. Mrs. Phllip Laspisa, Mrs.
    Angelo Muscarella, Nicholas J., Lawrence
    S., Mrs. Salvatore Galllna,
    Miss Lucy B. Vllardo, Miss Marie A.
    Vilardo and Salvatore. Jr. Me was
    the father of the late Mrs. Josephine
    DIPaola and was the brother of
    Mrs. Josephine Conto. Nine grandchildren

    Marie A. Filicetti, 99, of Niagara Falls, NY went home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 14, 2020 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Grace Vilardo.
    Marie attended local schools graduating from Trott Vocational High School.  On October 6, 1945, she married Louis F. Filicetti.  Mr. Filicetti predeceased her on April 2, 2013.  During the 1940’s Marie worked at Grant’s Department Store and Kimberly Clark.  Marie was later employed as a lunch monitor from the mid 1960’s to the mid 1980’s at 66th Street Elementary School and finally LaSalle Senior High School.
    Marie loved being an active part of her community.  She knitted and crocheted newborn hats and blankets to donate to the babies in local hospitals.  Marie volunteered at Artpark as an usher and at her church.   She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society as well as the Parent Teacher Association at Prince of Peace, serving as President in 1963 - 1964.    Marie centered her life around her family.  When she wasn’t cooking for her family or volunteering at her church, you could find Marie dancing the night away. 
    Marie is survived by her children, Gloria (Chris) Stanz, Gilda Bonnevie and Patricia (late Serofino) Giambattista; her grandchildren, Michael (Joanne Willard) Stanz, Annemarie (Marc) Selvitelli, David (Amanda) Urbaniak, Teresa (Christopher) Chapman, Phillip (Danielle) Bonnevie, Julie (Christopher) Scott, Michele (William) Vaughn, Andrea (Gordon) Stevens, and Sammy Giambattista; eighteen great-grandchildren, and her brother, Thomas (late Rosemary) Vilardo as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Marie was predeceased by her daughter, Marcia (Stephen) Urbaniak, and her siblings, Sarah (late Philip) LaSpisa, Jennie (late Angelo) Muscarello, Nicholas (late Mary) Vilardo, Larry (late Lucy) Vilardo, Carrie (late Joe) Agugliaro, Josephine (late Alex) DiPaolo and Lucy (late Joseph) DeDario.
    Marie enjoyed her activities at Schoellkopf and was truly helpful to the residents there.  The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Schoellkopf for their excellent care and compassion to Marie.
    Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17 from 4 - 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304 where services will begin on Saturday at 11:45 AM followed by Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N.     Ronald ‘Ron’ B. Vilardo, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on November 24, 2021 surrounded by his family under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Ferrara) Vilardo.
    Ron graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1969 and later attended SUNY Geneseo.  On November 26, 1977, he married Cathy V. (Certo) Vilardo at St. Teresa's Church in Niagara Falls, NY.  Ron was employed for 43 years as a Sales Supervisor with Certo Brothers Distributors in Niagara Falls and Buffalo, NY, retiring in 2019.  Ron was a longtime member of Niagara Frontier Country Club, a former coach and member of the Board of Directors for Whirlpool Park Little League, and the former Chairman of the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club Auction, as well as a member of the Pine Avenue Business Association.  "Ronnie V" was an avid golfer, and loved laughing with his friends.  Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
    In addition to his wife of 44 years, Ron is survived by his children, Anthony (Cheryl) Vilardo and Lisa (Dan) Supon; his grandchildren, Carmella Vilardo, Kate Vilardo, and Lyla Supon; his brother, Nicholas (late Barbara) Vilardo, NFFD Ret.; his mother-in-law, Natalie (late Henry ‘Hank’) Certo, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was the brother-in-law to the late Peter I. (Rose) Certo, Hank (Shayne) Certo, Jr., Marie (Ken) DeMont, Joe (Nancy) Certo, Ken (Tracy) Certo, Dr. Margaret (Joe) Certo, and Mark (Kristin) Certo.  The family would like to thank dear friends Joe Sarkees, Anthony Antonacci, and Steve Conte for all their help and love.

    Two young women, both residents
    of this city and both war plant employes,
    were injured fatally Saturday
    night at 8.45 o'clock when they
    were struck by an automobile in
    the River road, near Washington
    street, North Tonawanda, N. Y.
    The victims of the accident were
    Miss Jennie Vilardo, 17, a daughter
    of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Vilardo.
    of 520 Twenty-second street, and
    Miss Ada Marie Pentz, also 17, who
    made her home with a sister at 604
    Spruce avenue. Her home was in
    Eldred. Pa. Both young women were
    employes of the Local plant of the
    U. S. Chemical Warfare Service.
    Miss Vilardo was engaged to Private
    Gordon Hosking, of Stratford.
    Conn., and the announcement of her
    engagement was to have appeared
    in the Gazette today.
    With two companions, Marion
    Morasco, 24. of 1018 Fifteenth street,
    and Miss Mary E. McGonigle, 24.
    of 8516 Munson avenue, the two
    youthful victims of the tragedy had
    been on a bicycle trip and were on
    their way back to this city. They
    are said to have stopped to adjust
    lights on their bicycles when the
    automobile, operated by Colburn
    Blake, 43. proprietor of Lynch's
    park in the River road. Wheatfield.
    also traveling towards this city,
    struck Miss Vilardo and Miss Pentz.
    hurling them against the windshield
    of the car.
    Miss Pentz died enroute to the De-
    Graff Memorial hospital. North
    Tonawanda. while Miss Vilardo died
    a few minutes after having been
    admitted to the same institution.
    Blake is accused of having left the
    scene. He was arrested a short time
    later by Patrolman Frederick Hoefert,
    of the North Tonawanda police
    department, and was held by City
    Judge Edwin Messint today on a
    charge of leaving the scene of an
    accident without making himself
    known, until his release was order-
    ed by District Attorney John S.
    Marsh. He pleaded not guilty and
    gave bail of $1,000.
    Mr. Marsh said that he would
    present evidence in the case to the
    grand jury. Coroner Jacob E. Helj
    wig. of North Tonawanda. withheld
    issuing death certificates, pending
    completion of his investigation. He
    said that he asked Blake for a
    statement and that Blake told him
    that he prefererd to make no statement
    at that time.
    Miss Pentz was a daughter of Mr.
    and Mrs. Paul Pentz. of Eldred, Pa.,
    and was employed as an accountant
    by the Chemical Warfare Service.
    Besides her parents, Miss Vilardo
    is survived by a brother, Lawrence.
    Jr., a sister. Joel Antoinette, and
    another brother. Anthony. She was
    a graduate of the Niagara Falls
    high school with the class of 1942
    and was employed by the Chemical
    Warfare Service as a government
    inspector. Funeral services will be
    held from her late home tomorrow
    morning at 8.30 o'clock and in the
    Church of Our Lady of the Rosary
    at 9 o'clock. Burial will be In the
    Gate of Heaven cemetery.

    Marcia (nee Filicetti) Urbaniak, age 65, of Niagara Falls, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at her residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, on June 14, 1950, she was the daughter of Marie (nee Vilardo) and the late Louis Filicetti.

    Marcia grew up in the LaSalle section of Niagara Falls and attended Prince of Peace Grade School, Madonna High School, Niagara County Community College, Fredonia State College (where she earned her Bachelor's in Education), and did graduate work at Niagara University. She began her teaching career in the 1970's at St. Joseph's School in Niagara Falls and then was employed by the Niagara Falls Board of Education. She taught Adult Education, GED, Opportunities Unlimited, and English as a Second Language.

    Marcia enjoyed reading, sewing, cross stitching, and tending to her flower garden. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren.

    She is survived by her husband, Stephen J. Urbaniak; her children, David (Amanda) Urbaniak of Grand Island and Teresa (Cris) Chapman of Clarence Center; five grandchildren, Dean, Madelyn and Mason Urbaniak, and Olivia and Joseph Chapman; her mother, Marie Filicetti; and three sisters, Gloria (Chris) Stanz of North Tonawanda, Gilda Bonnevie of Grand Island and Patricia (Sam) Giambattista of Niagara Falls, NY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Friday only at the LABUDA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 356 Portage Road, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259 4th Street, Niagara Falls. Friends invited. Please assemble at church.

    If desired, memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute are preferred by the family.
