    Notes:

    Laurie J. Davis, a lifelong resident of the city of Niagara Falls, died on Thursday August 27, 2015 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, following a brief illness. She was 56. Born in this city on September 26, 1958, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marilyn (Everest) Voelker. She attended local schools and was graduated from Niagara Falls High School, Class of 1976.

    Laurie began her career at the former Marine Midland Bank as a platform officer assistant from 1977 -1989. She made a job change and has been with the Niagara Community Action Program working as its fiscal manager for 25 years.

    Devoted to the city she loved, she was very active in many organizations throughout Niagara Falls. She was a member of the City of Niagara Falls Planning Board and the Tourism Advisory Committee; a twenty-year member of the Main Street Business and Professional Association, serving on the board and as their treasurer; chairman of the Citizen Advisory Committee appointed by the city council and Mayor for the courthouse project and as treasurer to the Local Development Corporation; The Niagara Community Action Program, Inc., and was a lifetime member of the Friends of Local History.

    A longtime member of the Niagara Falls Kiwanis Club, Laurie held many positions and received much recognition from her involvement. She was their President from 2006-2007; Treasurer from 2007 until her passing; Vice President from 2010-2011 and was on the Board of Directors for ten years. She served as Chairman for the Canadian American Goodwill Luncheon; Scholarship Committee; Kash for Kids, which despite back pain, stood in the streets with the bucket to collect money for their projects; the J.T. Anderson Dinner, which honors war veterans, community heroes and past President John T. Anderson and the Installation Dinner for many years. She was on various committees including, chaperoning the 5th grade trip to Washington, DC; Christmas party for Disadvantaged Children; Christmas party for adults with Opportunities Unlimited; Niagara Beautification Walnut Avenue cleanup; bike rodeo; Bash Against Bullies; Welcome Committee for Kiwanis New York State Convention held in Niagara Falls; the Peach Festival; Senior Center Ice Cream Social; chaperone with the Kiwanis for the Boys and Girls Club; bell ringing for the Salvation Army and the nominating, Bylaw and public relations committees. Laurie did any and everything that needed to be done. She never said no and even in her final months, she chaired two major events and was chairing a third at the time of her death.

    She loved working on Main Street, as a little girl she loved going there with her Mom to watch the parades and bands and especially Mayor Lackey riding his white horse. Also known for her keen sense of humor, she enjoyed camping, puzzles and quiet visits at the Falls.

    She is survived by her sister, Carol Wirth (Robert) of the Town of Wheatfield; a brother, William Voelker of the Town of Allen, NY; her aunt, Elizabeth Fusco of the Town of Tonawanda; special cousin and friend, Sharon Greathouse; longtime friend, Angela Doldan of the Town of Tonawanda; her beloved Golden Retriever, "Buddy" and ten cousins.

    Friends may call on Monday from 1-4 PM and 6-7:30 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where Funeral Services will be held following the visitation at 7:30 PM. Interment will be private in North Ridge Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Niagara Community Action Program, Inc.
