    a baker for 37 years, retiring
    in 1947. He was a member of
    the LaSalle and Whitney Avenue
    Golden Age clubs.
    He is survived by three daughters,
    Mrs. William Goater and
    Mrs. Gordon Cal, both of this
    city, and Mrs. William G. Owler,
    Matteson, Ill.; two sons, Warren
    D. Allen and George H. Allen,
    both of North Tonawanda; a
    b r o t h e r , Rev. Ralph Allen,
    Rochester and 12 grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Riverside
    Presbyterian Church with Rev.
    Ray K. Hallin officiating. Burial
    will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

    Dorothy Ardine (Allen) Goater "Ladybug Dot", age 102 of Niagara Falls, was called to her heavenly home on June 11, 2016 at the Schoellkopf Health Center. Born February 14, 1914 in Niagara Falls, New York, daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Hanson) Allen. Dorothy was a member and former secretary at Riverside Presbyterian Church, where she and her husband were instrumental in starting a hand bell choir. She worked at her son's business, Sanborn Greenhouse, well into her retirement years. Dorothy was know for her ladybug collection, loved reading books and had a thirst for knowledge. Predeceased by her husband, Bill Goater; sister, Eleanor Call; brother, Warren Allen; in-laws,Suzanne Goater, William Owler, Gordy Call, Dorothy Allen, Thomas and Geraldine Goater, Harry Goater, Bert and Betty Goater, Amy and Loz Johnson, and May and Ray Phillips. Survived by her son, Kenneth Goater of Sanborn; sister and best friend, Ethel Owler of Youngstown; brother, George Allen of North Tonawanda; sisters-in-law, Shirley Allen and Winifred Goater; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Niagara Falls Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church, or St. Jude Hospital.

    NIAGARA FALLS — Eleanor May (Allen) Call, age 93, of Niagara Falls, formerly of Pekin, was called to her eternal home to be with her Lord on August 28, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Nicknamed "Nonny", she was born August 13, 1917, in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Harry and Anna (nee Hanson) Allen. She grew up in a loving Christian family with two sisters and two brothers, attending the First Baptist Church on Main and Fourth Streets. She was united in marriage to Gordon Call on September 27, 1935. He was called to his eternal home in January 1977. Eleanor and Gordy were active with the LaSalle Yacht Club, Squadronettes, the Thespian Club at Pierce Avenue Presbyterian Church and later at Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, where they enjoyed playing in the hand bell choir. Eleanor remained active for many years at Bacon Memorial, in the Pairs 'n Spares Club and the Evershed Ladies League. She volunteered with the Sunday School, was on the Christian Education Committee, Board of Deacons, sang in the choir and church secretary for several years. Eleanor loved gardening and working at her nephew's greenhouse - Sanborn Greenhouses. She loved reading and was a literacy volunteer.

    Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy (late William) Goater, Ethel (late William) Owler and one brother, George (late Dorothy) Allen; five nieces and seven nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Warren (wife Shirley) Allen and Ralph Allen.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert W. Peck on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, 166-59th Street, Niagara Falls. Interment will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or the Alzheimer's Foundation.

    Ethel Louise Owler, age 98 of Youngstown, died Monday October 23, 2017 in the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport.
     
    Ethel was born June 6, 1919 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Hanson) Allen. Following her graduation from Trott Vocational School in 1937, she worked for the Carborundum Company. On September 4, 1943 she married William Gordon Owler at Camp Murphy, Florida. They were married for 65 years until his passing in 2009.
     
    They lived in Matteson, IL from 1952 to 1987 when they moved to Youngstown. During their time in Matteson, Ethel and Bill were members of the 1st Presbyterian Church, Chicago Heights, IL and she was a Sunday School Teacher loving her time with the Kindergarten children for 20 years. She was also involved in Women's Fellowship and doing mission sewing. Ethel was a member of the Matteson Elementary School PTA serving in several officer positions for many years, and was a member of the Matteson Historical Society.
     
    She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, a member of the Porter Township Historical Society, Old Fort Niagara and Friends of the Youngstown Free Library.
     
    Ethel was extremely proud of her family and loved when they came to visit and spend time at their place along Lake Ontario. She was proud of the four generations pictures with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her family will always cherish the swimming and boating, picnic dinners, and campfires, her blond brownies and her homemade spaghetti. Ethel and her sister Dorothy enjoyed exploring their family ancestry and sharing their Swedish heritage with family and friends. Her love for walking was a daily activity she enjoyed up to the very end.
     
    She is survived by her children, William G. (Nancy) Owler, Jr. of Quakertown, PA, Garrett A. (Ruth) Owler of Ballwin, MO, and Eileen (Mel) Meinheit of Peotone, IL; her grandchildren, William G. (Gloria) Owler, III, Jonathan, Jeffery (Danielle) and J. Nathan (Sarah) Owler, Mary (Robby) Fitch, Rebecca (Matt) Bailey, Andrew Owler, Nicole (Bryan) Sherrick, and Matthew (Shannon) Meinheit; her great grandchildren, Amber , Lillian and Lindsey Owler, Jackson, Wesley, Roman and Mabel Fitch, Archibald and Bramwell Owler, Amelie and Edith Mae Bailey, Lauren and Benjamin Sherrick, and Emmett Meinheit; her step great grandchildren, Sargent and Daniel Majors; a brother, George (late Dorothy) Allen; and a sister in law, Shirley Allen; several nieces and nephews and her friends at Brookdale Assisted Living. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Goater and Eleanor (Gordon) Call, and two brothers, Ralph and Warren Allen.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 27, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St., Youngstown, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Rural Cemetery, Lake Rd. Youngstown.     NORTH TONAWANDA — Ricky E. Allen, 58, of North Tonawanda, went home to heaven to be with our Lord on May 29, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 19, 1953 to Warren and Shirley (Krueger) Allen. Rick loved scouting and was the second person in Boy Scout Troop 833 to earn his Eagle Award. He went on to serve as Scoutmaster of Troop 833, Activities Director of Troop 821, Explorer Post Advisor, among other scouting leadership positions. He was an outdoors man that loved camping, fishing, hunting, campfires, and canoeing through Algonquin Park. But none could compare to his love of Allegheny State Park, where he spent many a day enjoying God's great gift of nature.

    Rick joined Adams Fire Company in 1971 and has been a lifelong member, serving as Assistant Fire Chief. He enjoyed serving the community as a fireman, making chowder, fireman parades, water ball, and serving on the committee for restoration of the 1944 Buffalo fire apparatus. He was also a member of Union Hook and Ladder in Tonawanda, where he served as Captain and was a member of the Tonawanda Fireman's Benevolent. Rick went on to be the Founding Father of the Wheatfield Volunteer Firefighter's Benevolent Association in 1996 and became its first President. Rick was employed at several local machine shops as a machinist for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, where he served as an usher. As an avid sports fan, he loved to watch the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and NASCAR races. He had a personal interest in Native American Indian lore and loved to tell stories around the campfire.

    Rick is survived by his mother, Shirley Allen; two sisters, Kathy (Laird) Burkett and Cheryl (Robert) McCall; one brother, Gilbert Allen; and seven nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Daniel Allen, Laird, Larry, and Laura Burkett, Matthew and Todd McCall. His father, Warren Allen, predeceased him.

    Friends and family may call at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1135 Oliver St., North Tonawanda on Sunday, June 3rd from 2:00-4:00 PM, followed with a memorial service following at 4:00 PM, with the Rev. Patrick McKenzie officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME.

    Cheryl Jean McCall, age 62, of North Tonawanda, New York, was called to be home in heaven to be with her Lord, on May 24, 2019 in Buffalo General Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Born in North Tonawanda on March 10, 1957 to Warren and Shirley (Krueger) Allen. After graduating from North Tonawanda High School, she studied at Canisius College.
    Cheryl married her neighborhood sweetheart, Robert McCall, Jr. on October 1, 1977 and worked in the insurance industry at Hartford and Cigna for several years, until her children Matt and Todd were born. She put career aside to become a dedicated homemaker; and lovingly provided day care for her sister and brother's children as well. Cheryl dearly loved all the children and frequently volunteered for school activities and field trips. Working together, Cheryl and Rob led the Northtown Soccer Club for many years.
    Cheryl loved her many family pets over the years and cared for them like they were her children. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, Allegany, and family gatherings. Cheryl also enjoyed working out at the gym with her trainer Rick, and the many friends she met there.
    Cheryl was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, where she volunteered to teach Sunday School, and led the youth group. Her Bible verse to live by was from Deuteronomy 6:5 - "Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength". She lived out her faith with family, friends, and even strangers. You could tell by the joy she brought to others when she was around.
    In addition to her husband, Robert McCall, Jr. and sons Matthew (Julie) McCall and Todd McCall; she is survived by her mother, Shirley Allen; sister, Kathy (Laird) Burkett; brother, Gilbert Allen; brother in law, Ken McCall; niece, Jen (Jason) Gallo and their children Ethan and Emma; and nephews, Dan Allen Josh (Liz) Burkett, and Larry Burkett. Cheryl was predeceased by her father, Warren Allen; mother and father in law, Robert and Elaine McCall, Sr.; brother, Rick Allen; and niece, Laura Burkett.
    Friends and family may call at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1135 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda, NY on Saturday, June 1 from 1:00 - noon. A memorial service will follow at noon, with the Rev. Keith Knupp, officiating. A private interment will follow at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Niagara County SPCA, or St. Mark Lutheran Church. Arrangements were with the DuBois Funeral Home.

Laura came to this area in 1996, was a high school graduate, with cosmetology certification. She is a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, where she assisted with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and the Children's Choir. Laura was a former member of the Girl Scouts, and enjoyed travelling with her family throughout the United States. 
    Survivors include a son, Bentley; her parent's; two brothers, Laird J. (Liz) Burkett of Wheatfield, and Larry Burkett of Niagara Falls; grandmother, Shirley Allen of North Tonawanda; two aunts, Cheryl (Robert) McCall of North Tonawanda, and Josephine (Stephen) Gill of Pekin; a uncle, Gilbert Allen of North Tonawanda; cousins, Matt (Julie) McCall, Jen (Jason) Gallo, Dan Allen, Todd McCall, and Aaron Gill; and friend, Wally Czaska.
    Friends may call at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1135 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda, NY 14120 on Sunday (September 9) from noon till 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Keith Knupp, at 2:00 p.m. following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
    Laura was known to have a smile on her face, a laugh in her voice, and a hug from her heart. She will be missed.
