Buffalo NY Morning Express - 10/28/1920

Tonawanda, Oct. 27.—George Weh-
rung. 55 vears old, one of the best
known residents and businessmen of
the Tonawandas. died suddenly at his home at No. 518 Delaware avenue, late
last night as the result of a stroke of
apoplexy. Mr. Wehrang was stricken
while eating supper.
Mr. Wehrung was the local repre-
sentative of the Ontario Biscuit company
of Buffalo. He was born In Buffalo
and had lived here twenty years.
He was a member of Tonawanda lodge.
F. & A.M., Lumber City tent, K.O.T.
M., of the Delaware hose company and
the Men's club of the Salem church. He
was also d member of the board of health of Tonawanda. Besides his
widow, one sister. Mrs. George Coates
of Buffalo, and one brother, William
Wehrung of Buffalo, survive. The fu-
neral will be held from the family home
at 2:30 o'clock on Friday afternoon, the
Rev. Andrew Hila officiating. The
Tonawanda lodge of Masons will have charge of the services. Burial will be
in Elmmwn.

Lois Clara Human, age 92, of the Town of Amherst, December 29, 2023, in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Lois was a former employee of the Sweethome School District and taught kindergarten for 39 years. Lois loved her cats, knitting and other crafts. She worked for 10 years at Alpacas of Niagara. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Clara (Webrung) Human. She was the sister of the late George (late Alma) Human. She had been the beloved fiancée of the late Henry “Pat” Brummer Jr. She is survived by Paul (Jenna) Burkard, great aunt of Danielle, Nina, Vanessa, Austin, and Holden Burkhard. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery, Lockport. North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 8/9/1965

Carl L. Wolgast, a lifelong resident of the Sweet
Home area of Amherst and former Sweet Home School
Board president, was electrocuted last night when he
stepped on a fallen electric wire after a car had struck
a power pole in the Town of Amherst.
Mr. Wolgast, 38, of 2955 Sweet
Home Road, Amherst, apparently
tripped on the 4,800-volt line
while examining the scene of the
accident in Sweet Home Road
near Tonawanda Creek Road.
The three young occupants of
the car, all Amherst residents,
were shaken up but apparently
escaped serious injury. Robert
Guggernost, 19, the driver, Barbara
Hughes, 18, and Jacqueline
Reeves, 16, his passengers, were
examined at Meyer Memorial
Hospital.
Amherst Police Lt. Donald G.
Wright said Mr. Wolgast stepped
past a police guard set up on the
highway. "I saw him and yelled
at him to watch it," Lt. Wright
said. "At that moment he came
in contact with the wire and went
down."
Mr. Wolgast was freed when a
repair crew from Niagara Mohawk
Power Corp. cut the line.
He was pronounced dead at the
scene.
Mr. Wolgast served on the
Sweet Home Central School District
Board of Education from
1959 to 1964, including two terms
as president.
A graduate of North Tonawanda
Senior High School, he was active
in many civic affairs and
was one of the organizers of the
Ellicott Creek Civic Association.
Mr. Wolgast, an agent for Gold
Star Realtors, was the husband
of LaVerne Thomsen Wolgast;
father of Lawrence, Suzanne, David,
Linda and Randy Wolgast,
and son of Alice Wehrung and
the late Carl A. Wolgast.
Services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at the Beach-Tuyn
Funeral Home, Williamsville.
