    Shirley H. Hughes (nee Haak) age 90 of the City of Tonawanda, April 15, 2020 while in Elderwood at Grand Island Nursing Home following a brief illness. Shirley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She loved reading, music and traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Loving wife of Donald Hughes, dear mother of Robert (Susan) Hughes, Joanne (Robert) Vocco, Marcy (Richard) Shamrock and the late Karen Moeller. Grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Sister of Mary Jane Foster, Paul Haak, Carol Haak, and the late Robert Haak and Joan Lewis; aunt of several nieces and nephews. No prior visitation, a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. If so desired memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

    LEWIS - Joan A. (nee Haak) Age 79, of North Tonawanda, unexpectedly, September 28, 2011. Joan was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was the wife of the late LaVern Lewis; beloved mother of Pat (Ed) Danieli, Nancy Ernst and the late Dale Lewis; grandmother of Gabriella, Alex, Samantha and Jillian; sister of Shirley (Donald) Hughes, Mary Jane (Cal) Foster, Paul (Wanda) Haak and Carol Haak; aunt of many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thompson and Falconer Sts. in North Tonawanda on Saturday from 4 - 5 PM. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday at 5 PM, Rev. David Beutel will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Redeemer Lutheran Church.     Age 59, after a life of struggle, found peace with his savior Jesus Christ. Son of Paul R. and Wanda L. (nee Henderson) Haak, brother of James M. (Lisa Kelly) Haak, Paul A. Haak, Robert C. Haak, Catherine L. (Daniel) Krueger, and the late David P. Haak. John is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 265 Falconer St., North Tonawanda, NY. A burial of cremains will immediately follow in Elmlawn Cemetery. Everyone is welcome. Contributions in John’s name may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or BestSelf Behavioral Health.
