    Born April 23, 1897 in Clearfield
    Countyy, Pa., he lived
    in the Town of Porter for 17
    years. He was a member of
    the F i l l m o r e Methodist
    Church and was employed as
    a guard at Kimberly-Clark for
    15 years until his retirement.
    Survivors include his wife,
    Lillian (Seal) Horn; two sons,
    Oscar L. Horn, Youngstown,
    and Lee Horn, Ransomville,
    and three daughters, Mrs. William
    Brainard, Mrs. Geral
    Shaffer,. Niagara Falls, and
    Miss Margaret Horn, Ransomville.
    He is also survived by
    two step-sons, Theodore Grose,
    Ransomville; Howard Grose,
    Newark, N.Y. and a stepdaughter,
    Mrs. Charles Michel, Ransomville,
    a sister, Mrs. Henry
    Hellopeter, Clearfield, Pa.;
    two brothers, Isaac Hern,
    Clearfield; Joel Horn, DuBois,
    Pa., 18 grandchildren and two
    greatgrandchildren.
    The funeral wil lbe held at
    2 p.m. Saturday at the-Hardison
    Funeral Home, South
    Lake St., -Ransomville. Rev.
    Robert Jones of Fillmore
    Methodisjt Church will officiate.
    Burial willbe in Memorial
    Park Cemetery.

    Lee C. Horn, Sr,. of Wilson, NY, and Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on December 11, 2021, after a brief illness, with his family at his side. Born May 22, 1947, Lee was the son of the late Oscar and Lillian Horn.
    Lee retired from Harrison Radiator/Delphi after more than 40 years, where he was a Millwright. He was a member of the Punta Gorda Elks, Past Commander of The United States Power Squadron Lockport District, a Past Commodore at Olcott Yacht Club as well as a very active member of Island Yacht Club in Wilson, where he was serving on the Board of Directors at the time of his passing. He was an avid boater who loved to travel and make new friends along the way.
    Lee and his wife, Joanne, spent six years living aboard their boat full time, traveling between NY and Florida on the ICW, and during that time completed the "Great Loop," which is a 6,000-mile water route that circumnavigates the eastern part of the U.S., and part of Canada. They also traveled the iconic Route 66 from start to finish, toured Hawaii, and Alaska, visiting 48 of our 50 States.
    Lee most loved spending time with his family and his many wonderful friends. He always had a smile on his face and a helping hand to offer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
    Lee is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Joanne Horn; five children, Lee (Patricia) Horn, Jr. of Gasport, Lisa (Anthony) LaRose of Lockport, Lynette (Timothy) Shoaf of Springfield, Louisiana, Nathan (Helen) Raskopf of Raleigh, NC, and Adina (William) Neuman of Auburn; 14 grandchildren, Ashlee (Walter) Centner, Melodie (John) Lengen, Adrian (Jaime) Horn, Amber (Brian) Bunnell, Jessica Whitley (Michael Annalora), Mitchell (Amber) Weatherbee, Christopher (Candice) Shoaf, Tabetha and Nichole Shoaf, Maggie (Kyle) Jensen, Eleanor and Oliver Raskopf, Clara and Emily Neuman; 12 great-grandchildren, Madalyn and Jourdan Centner, Marlayna Lengen, Harlee Horn, Aiden and Levi Bunnell, Bryan Annalora, Caden and Austin Weatherbee, Malaya and Taelor Shoaf and Theodore Jensen; also survived by sisters, Jessie (Charles) Michel, and Margaret Taylor; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, Lee was predeceased by siblings, Mary Shaffer, Lillian Brainerd-Adams, Ruby Smith, Oscar "Bill" Horn, Howard Grose, and Theodore Grose.
    Family will be present at 12:00 PM on Saturday June 18, 2022 at Island Yacht Club in Wilson, NY, to greet friends. There will be a Memorial Service starting at 1:00 PM officiated by Rev. Dr. Garry Seefeldt, followed by a Celebration of Lee's life and reception.Published on June 6, 2022

    NORTH TONAWANDA — Mary Louise (Horn) Shaffer, age 82, of North Tonawanda, was called to her heavenly home to be with our Lord on February 8, 2011, under Hospice care at the Northgate Health Care Facility. She was born on February 18, 1928 in DuBois, PA, to the late Oscar and Blanche (Knarr) Horn.

    Mary was a homemaker, enjoyed crafts of any kind, was an avid Bingo player, loved to play Cribbage, and travel with her late husband Gerald A. Shaffer of 56 years. The family moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1950. Mary was employed in the Niagara Wheatfield School district as a lunch aid and a librarian assistant. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, and the St. Johnsburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, holding many offices throughout the years.
    Mary was the beloved mother of Bonnie (Roger) Lemke, Connie (Fredrick) Robinson, Linda (Timothy) Tomsen and Barbara (William) Jakobi; loving grandmother of Jim, Jewel, Jerry, Rob, Dan, Tim, Laura, Janelle and Kayla; great-grandmother of Casey, Nick, Shawn, Alyssa, Shawn, Felicia, Daniel and Peter; dear sister of the late Lillian Brainerd-Adams, Oscar "Bill" Horn, Ruby Smith, Lee Horn and Margaret (Horn); sister-in-law to Blaine (Barb) Shaffer, the late Earl (Mae) Shaffer and Dorothy (George) Reese; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all of us.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Saturday 9-11 AM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald D. Oravec on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. A private interment will take place in Niagara Falls Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, or St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Company.

    Richard L. Smith, 69, of the Town of Niagara, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Buffalo V.A. Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.  Born on August 22, 1949 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Glen and Ruby (Horn) Smith and the step-son of the late Alice Smith.  On September 25, 1971, Rick as he was known to family and friends, married Karen A. Swartz.
     
    Rick was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.  He proudly served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, from December 30, 1966 until his honorable discharge on November 17, 1969 and fulfilled his reserve obligations on December 29, 1972.  He retired from Olin, where he was employed as a millwright.
     
    In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by children, Christina (Jeffrey) Ambrosia, Gregory (fiancé, Chandra Santiago) Smith, Michelle Cole and Melanie (Kevin) Finnegan; grandchildren, Alicen, Dylan, Jacob, Joseph, Morgan “Milo”, Logan, Christopher, Emma, Jack, Jaysen and Lucia; a sister, Patricia (Calvin) Pfohl; step-brothers, Duane (Karen) Ferchen and Neil Ferchen; Rick’s supportive in-laws, the Swartz family and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
     
    The family will be present to receive friends on Friday (TODAY) from 4-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where a funeral service will held on Saturday, August 3rd at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Laura Norris-Buisch officiating.  Prayers of committal and interment, concluding with military honors, will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to a veterans charity of one’s choice. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Justus and Margaret Tomsen and Gerald and Mary Shaffer, and her uncles, Jim Tomsen, Jon Tomsen, and Roger Lemke. Laura loved her family and remembered each of them by calling on their birthdays and singing Happy Birthday. If she met you once and you told her your birthday, she would never forget it. She also had loving nicknames for her favorite people. She loved going on the WNY Paranormal Society's outings and to Bandits' and Sabres' games. She was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan though, much to her Dad's consternation. She loved country music and went to many concerts in the area. Laura was an upbeat positive person who would always see the bright side of things. Laura was a certified Nursing Assistant and worked at the Buffalo Veterans Hospital. She was a US Navy Veteran. A Memorial Service to celebrate Laura's life will be held at the Church of the Nativity, United Church of Christ, 1530 N. Colvin Blvd., on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
