James Shingledecker, 577, of
Olean, N. Y., died in the Niagara
County Sanitarium, Saturday
morning. Born in Reynoldsville,
Pa., he resided in North Tonawanda
for 20 years, making his
home at the Lewis Hotel, Webster
St. He was an employe of
the Bennett Lumber Company. He
is survived by his mother, Mrs.
Minerva Lee, nee Shaw, of Olean;
two sons, Frank of Olean and
James of North Tonawanda; a
daughter, Mrs. Alice Lorich of
North Tonawanda; six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be
held Wednesday at 2 p. m. from
the Pawenski Funeral Home, 679
Oliver St. The Rev. C. L. Brauri
will officiate. Burial will be in
Elmlawn.

Lorich Sr.; dearest mother of Florence (Harold) Scherrer, Beverly (Steven) Urbaniak Lawrence (Kristine) Lorich, late Harold (Sandra) Lorich Jr., late Kenneth (Inez) Lorich, late James Lorich, late Otto Lorich, and late Frank Lorich; also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Alice was predeceased by two brothers. Visitation Thursday, 3-8 PM, at SABER FUNERAL HOME (692-0271), 549 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda where a Funeral Service will be Friday, 11 AM (per the family masks required). Florence E. (Flo) (née Shingledecker) Matters 64, of North Tonawanda died June 22, 2023 at home surrounded by family under the care of Niagara Hospice after a battle with cancer. Florence is the daughter of the late James K. and Betty (née Witkopp) Shingledecker and sister of the late Harold and James Shingledecker, and Bonnie Matthews. Mother of Betty (john) Hark, and Nathan (Gineen) Matters, Flo is survived by her sisters Terri, Malissa (Michael Kuntz), Jessie, and brothers Frank, Andrew (Cindy), Norman, and Billie (Pat) and sister in law Nancy Shingledecker, proud grandmother of four, also surviving many nieces and nephews. Flo worked as a Nurses Aid for many years she had a special heart in helping the elderly. Flo also loved watching football, (GO BILLS) and Nascar racing. A special thank you to Niagara Hospice and the a very special nurse April. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in White Chapel Memorial Park.

James K. Shingledecker, age 63, of North Tonawanda, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at his residence after a long illness. Born September 1, 1954 in the Town of Tonawanda, he was the son of the late James and Betty (nee Witkopf) Shingledecker. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, he worked construction until becoming ill.
He was the husband of Nancy (nee Solack) Shingledecker; father of Hope Linville of Amherst, Bridgette (Bruce Howitt) Alringer of Depew, Jolene (Sebastian) Zirilli of Tonawanda, Jacob (Lisa) Shingledecker of North Tonawanda, and the late Robert Linville and James P. Shingledecker; brother of Terri Maracle of Canada, Frank Shingledecker of North Tonawanda, Andy (Cynthia) Shingledecker of Tonawanda, Malissa (Michael) Kuntz of North Tonawanda, Norman Shingledecker of Tonawanda, Jessie Shingledecker of Cheektowaga, Billy (Patty) Shingledecker of Akron, Florence Matters of North Tonawanda, and the late Harold Shingledecker and Bonnie Matthews; and nephew of Alice Lorich of North Tonawanda. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There is no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 1 at Veteran's Park Shelter #1 on Niagara Street in Tonawanda, beginning at 12 Noon. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to help the family are preferred.
