Roger J. Lehman, of Colfax, NC, formerly of North Tonawanda, NY. Born January 4, 1929, died December 20, 2023; husband of Patricia (Mollison) Lehman. He was pre-deceased by his wife Pearl (Michael) Lehman, his parents Frank and Mildred (Baehr) Lehman, and brother and sister-in-law, Jerald and Barbara (Bach) Lehman.
Roger is survived by his sister Shirley (late David) Vill, brother-in-law John (late Patsy) Michael and sister-in-law Barbara (late Colter) Osborne; his children: Valerie Lehman, Deborah Raught, and Frank (Margie) Lehman, Michael (Hope) McLaughlin and Vicky (Brad) Smith; his grandchildren: Wesley (Amber) Anastasi, Lisa (Rick) Benson, Dominic Anastasi, Julie (Will) Henwood, Rachel (Jared) Brimberry, Katharine (Gavin Atkins) Raught, Heather Lehman, Amber (Nick) Widmer, Alex McLaughlin, Zoe McLaughlin, Avery Smith, Ian Smith, Blake Meyer and Presley Meyer; and great-grandchildren: Dylan, Isabella, Grayson, Ava, Emily, Jackson, Annie, Emma, Olivia, and Mira; also several nieces and nephews.
Roger served as a navigator in the US Air Force, retiring from the Air Force Reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He earned a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from SUNY at Buffalo. Roger taught Electrical Technology and served as Chair of the Technology and Mathematics Departments at Niagara County Community College. Roger was seen as a resourceful leader and a stalwart advocate of the college by both colleagues and the administration. He was awarded Professor Emeritus status upon his retirement after 30 years of service. His influence extended to all aspects of his life and was embraced and valued. Roger's passions included golf, travel, and bridge. He was an avid bridge player and attained Grand Master status. He designed and built the family homes. Roger had a wry sense of humor, and enjoyed sharing his reactionary opinions, hoping to generate debate. His happy place was Long Point, Ontario, at the cottage that he and his uncles helped his father build in 1945. His family was his true north, and he will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Roger's life will take place on Saturday, January 6, at Classics V (2425 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst, NY) from 3-5pm. All are invited to come, share a story, and remember this remarkable man.
