    Chestnut street on Tuesday. January
    8th after an Illness of two years, will
    be held from the home on Friday afternoon
    at 200 o'clock, the Rev. M. M.
    Shaut. pastor of the Warren's Corners
    Methodist church officiating. The burial
    will be at the North Ridge cemetery.
    He was bom In Wilson and had resided
    here his entire life time. He was a
    member of Wilson I. O. O. F. and was
    highly regarded by all who knew him.

    WILSON — Raymond R. Thilk, of Wilson, July 16, 2013, with his family at his side, while under Niagara Hospice care. Born March 19, 1920, he was a son of the late Herman and Hazel (Woodcock) Thilk.

    Growing up he worked the family farm with his father, attended local schools and was a member of the Methodist Church on Chestnut Road, then Exley United Methodist in Wilson.

    Raymond liked to hunt deer and pheasant. He also enjoyed playing baseball for the North Ridge team.

    He worked at Sears & Roebuck, Harrison and was the owner of Ray Thilk Sales and Service. Raymond was one of seven original founding members of the South Wilson Volunteer Fire Company of which he was lieutenant for 12 years. They would hold the fire company meetings at Thilk Sales and Service in the garage. He also played in the legion band bass drum or cymbals.

    Raymond liked to play cards, enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.

    Surviving him are a daughter, Karen (James) Jowly of Wilson; son, Robert (Sue) Thilk, Sr. of Wilson; four grandchildren, Heather Jowly of Wilson, Robert (Melissa) Thilk, Jr. of South Carolina, Joseph (Laura) Jowly of Niagara Falls, and Ashley Thilk of Buffalo; and a great granddaughter, Emma Jowly of Niagara Falls. Raymond is also survived by a brother, Merritt (Marion) Thilk of Wilson; a brother-in-law, Robert (Loretta) Hahn of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. Predeceasing him was his wife, Rosemary (Hahn) Thilk, on December 7, 1999.

    Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM, Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the South Wilson Fire Company where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM, followed by burial in North Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Wilson Fire Company. Arrangements by Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson.

    Merritt Herbert Thilk "Sarge," passed at home with his family at his side. Born August 10, 1921 in Wilson, he was a son of the late Herman and Hazel (Woodcock) Thilk.
    He helped his father work the family farm and graduated Wilson High School class of 1941, entering the US Army November 7, 1941 to August 13, 1945, serving in the 12th and 15th Army Air corps as a bomber radio operator.
    Merritt worked as the service manager for Sears Roebuck for five years and it is where he met his wife, Marion F. Heim. Together they founded and operated MH Thilk Electric in 1950.
    In 1952 he was one of the founding members of the South Wilson Fire Company and was elected Chief on November 7, 1952 and served that position until December of 2004. In 2002 Governor Pataki honored him for his years of service as he was active in the Niagara County Chief's Association and was a past President, 1960 to 1961. Merritt was Treasurer of the American Legion Band along with playing trombone and lifetime member of the American Legion Post 836. A member of the NYS Fire Chiefs' Association, NYS Volunteer Firemen's Association, Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association and Disabled American Veterans. He liked to hunt and bowl for the South Wilson Fire Company and still serves on the board of directors for the company.
    Surviving is a son, John (Coleen) Thilk of Wilson, Diane (Thomas) Briner of Arlington, Mass.; grandchildren, Hazel (Andrew) Marecki, Alexia (Chris) Sroka, Jordan Thilk, Otto Briner, and Tayler Thilk. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Marion F. Thilk, August of 2016; and brother, Raymond Thilk.
    Visitation will be Thursday and Friday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the South Wilson Fire Hall with Funeral Services to be held Saturday 10 AM.

    MIDDLEPORT - Daniel Raymond Woodcock, age 72, of Middleport, entered into rest on Sunday, August 3, 2014. Born November 17, 1941 in Wilson, Daniel was the son of the late F. Willard and Ethel Louise (Whitney) Woodcock.

    Dan worked at Harrison Radiator, where he retired in 1995. He married Mary Schick March 1, 1986 in Newfane. He had lived in Middleport for the past five years; previously of Barre, NY.

    Surviving Daniel is his wife, Mary; children, Sheryl (Sean) Magorian of Niagara Falls, Shawn (Kristin) Woodcock of Middleport, Rene Bilek of Angola, Amanda (Michael) Horn of Ransomville; step-daughter, Barbara (Stephen) Luty of Rochester; grandchildren, Abigail and Madison Horn, Joshua Hertel, Rachael Bilek, Jessica and Nicole Robertson, Logan Woodcock and Joshua Walker; great-grandson, Joshua Thomas Hertel and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Viola Woodcock.

    There will be no prior visitation. Interment services at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, Gasport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Erie County SPCA.
