Stricken with a heart attack while
seated In the McCarthy barbershop at j
1717 Eighteenth street this morning,
Daniel H. Lippert, 74 years old, of
2468 Michigan avenue, toppled over
and died within a few minutes. Coroner
Joseph V. Farugla Investigated
and reported that death was due to
natural causes.
A native of Ayton, Ont., Mr, Lippert
came to Niagara Falls when he
was 17 years old. Ho conducted a
grocery business In Michigan avenue
for many years and then worked for a
short time at the plant of the Am-
| erican Salesbook company, retiring
several years ago. He was a member
of the Exempt Firemen's association,
Niagara Falls Lodge, No. 81, I. O. O.
P., and the Zion Lutheran church.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs.
Bertha Lippert, and three daughters,
Mrs. Caroline Hermanson, Mrs. Hilda
Wolfe and Mrs. Florence Hermanson,
all of this city; a brother, Henry Lippert,
of Scottsvilie, Mich., and three

Constance 'Connie' Beatty Carkeet was born on December 24, 1920, in Niagara Falls, NY. She passed peacefully at her home on July 10, 2016, surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Billy) F. Carkeet, Sr.; brothers, Robert Beatty and Jack Beatty; and sisters, Mary Jane Norris, Gayle Beatty, and Gloria Beatty. She is survived by her four children, William F. Carkeet, Jr. (Patty), Virginia Mathis (Gene), Steven G. Carkeet (Julie), and Gloria Carkeet; brothers, Richard Beatty and Paul Beatty; and sister, Judy Beatty Killian. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Christopher B. Carkeet (Jennifer), Melissa C. Boals (Chris), Jennifer Fristick, Geoffrey Carkeet (Leigh Ann), Tracy C. Dugan (Casey), Timothy Fristick, Michael Carkeet (Maury), Catie Carkeet and eight great-grandchildren, Maggie Carkeet, Will Boals, John Carkeet, Samantha Boals, Presley Cate Dugan, Nala Carkeet, Kendall Carkeet and Olivia Dugan. She is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews.
Connie was a 1942 graduate of Syracuse University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Following graduation, she served as a WAVE in the United States Navy during WWII. While stationed at the St. Albans Naval Hospital on Long Island, NY, Connie met her future husband, Billy. They eventually settled in Billy's hometown of Memphis, opening the first of two family-owned furniture stores in 1947.
A lover of animals and dogs in particular, Connie enjoyed all things family including European vacations, time at her Florida condo, annual visits to Niagara Falls, and trips to Tunica with "the girls." She was a voracious reader who loved gardening and her weekly bridge group. A loyal University of Memphis Tiger basketball fan, she rarely missed a home game. Her faith was strong, and she was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and St. Luke Lutheran Church, both in Memphis.
Connie was extremely grateful for the loving support of her caregivers, Tina Smith and Amanda Griggs, and the wonderful team at Methodist Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, July 13th with the service at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 14th, both at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park-Southwoods following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of choice.

Carol Barbara (Hermanson) Brett, 89, of Lewiston, NY, passed from this life on March 8, 2022. Born on December 11, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence (Lippert) Hermanson.  In 1956, Carol married George F. Brett.  He predeceased her on April 21, 1999. 

 
Carol graduated from Niagara Falls High School and took several classes at Niagara University. She was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where she served as a worship assistant and deacon and belonged to the Altar Guild and choir.  Carol was employed at the former General Abrasives, Allstate Insurance and Niagara University as a secretary. She volunteered for 40 years for Meals-on-Wheels and sang for many years with the Lewiston Larks.  Carol also assisted with the reading program at the Francis Center.

 
Carol is survived by her brother, Daniel Hermanson and nieces and nephews, Eric Hermanson, Jerome (Ann) Brett, Barbara (Ronald) Burns, John (Mary Ellen) Brett, David (Laura) Brett, Mary (late Donald) Wannicki and Lisa (Richard) LaBend.

 
Visitation will be on Friday, March 11th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where Carol’s funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 p.m., with Rev.
