John W. Tussing
Dies; Veteran
Falls Musician
Funeral services for John W.
Tussing, 72, of 502 87th St., one of
the city's best known musicians,
will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at
the Lane Funeral Home. Mr. Tuss-
ing died yesterday (July 14, 1955)
of a heart attack at his home.
Born in Tonawanda, Aug, 4,
1883, he had been active in music
circles since he came here in 1908.
He worked for many years for the
Rudolph Wurlitzer Co., North Tonawanda,
as a musical arranger and
instructor in wind instruments.
. He also was director of the
LaSalle American Legion drum
crops and the Junior American
Legion Band. He played in both
the Carborundum Co. and Shredded
Wheat bands.
He was a member of LaSalle
Lodge No. 129, IOOF. Members of
the lodge will hold services for Mr.
Tussing at the funeral home Sunday
at 8 p.m.
Mr. Tussing also was an exempt
fireman in LaSalle and a member
of the LaSalle Business and Professional
Men's Club and-the La
Salle Yacht Club. He had served
for many years on the entertainment
committee of the LaSalle
Children's Field Day.
' He was a member of the congregation
of the First Congregational
Church, this city.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Serena Tussing, and a sister, Mrs.
Marguerite Wallace of Woodbine,
NJ.. and several nieces and
nephews.
The Rev. Graham Child, minister
of the First Congregational
Church, will officiate at funeral
services. Interment will be in Riverdale,
cemetery.

Mrs. Mess Dies;
Architect's Wife
Mrs. Jennie E. Mess, 67, died
suddenly yesterday at her home,
1004 Ontario avenue. She was the
wife of Architect Henry G. Mess.
Born in Tonawanda May 3, 1886,
Mrs. Mess came here upon her
marriage 42 years ago. She was
a life member of Zion Lutheran
church.
In addition to her husband. Mrs.
Mess is survived by a son. George
H. Mess; a daughter, Mrs. Mar-
garet M. Hassan, both of this city;
a brother, John William Tussing,
this city; a sister, Mrs. John Wallace,
Woodbine.. N.J., and. two
grandchildren. Grelchen Louise and
Kristina Ann Mess, this city.
The body will be at the Beatty
Funeral home until II a.m. Wednesday
when it will be- moved to
Zion Lutheran church where it will
lie in state until 3 p.m. when funeral
services will be conducted by
the Rev. Arthur H. Schmoyer, D.D.
Interment will be in Riverdale cemetery.
