Fredrich 'Fritz' A. Wurl, age 94, formerly of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home on January 13, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born August 27, 1921 in the Town of Wheatfield, son of the late Fredrich and Josephine (Koble) Wurl.

He served in the Air Force 1942-1945, and was a charter member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451. He operated the former Fritz's Collision, located on Ward Road until his retirement. Fritz was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and enjoyed watching the Buffalo Sabres and playing cards.

Survivors include a son, Dennis (Edele) Wurl; and daughter, Kathleen (Stephen) Keller both of Wheatfield; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Betty J. Wurl, on April 4, 2014; a son, Thomas Wurl; two brothers, Wilmer and Lester Wurl; and a sister, Mildred Schultz.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 23 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Park. There is no prior visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

(nee Kolbe) Guido, age 93, of North Tonawanda, passed away on June 21, 2014. Mrs. Guido was born in North Tonawanda on February 6, 1921, daughter of the late William and Emma Kolbe. Mrs. Guido was a very active member of the former Ascension R.C. Church and currently a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish. She had worked for Pivot-Punch in Pendleton for over 20 years. Mrs. Guido was involved in the foster grandparent program in the North Tonawanda School System for over 20 years. She was an Election Poll Worker for many years and a member of the North Tonawanda Senior Center. Beloved wife of the late Frank Guido, who passed away in 1948; devoted mother of Marilyn (Kenneth) Bigham, Frank (Eleanor) Guido, Jim (Kim) Guido, the late George Guido and late Thomas (Linda) Guido; sister of the late Dorothea Tober, late Edward, Herbert, Carl and William Kolbe. LOCKPORT — E. Clarence Doebler, age 88, of North Tonawanda, June 15, 2011, in Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Facility, Lockport. Clarence was a life-long resident of North Tonawanda and was a faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

He was the son of the late Gustav and Minnie (Kolbe) Doebler and brother of the late Edmund Doebler. He is survived by cousins and many friends. Clarence was employed by Buffalo Bolt for 17 years and then worked for National Grinding Wheel for 23 years, until he retired. Clarence was a volunteer for the North Tonawanda Meals on Wheels.

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM from St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 875 Eggert Dr., in North Tonawanda, the Rev. Gregory Schultz will officiate. Services for Thomas R. Wurl, 42, an electrician for Ferguson Electric Construction, who was fatally injured in a work-related accident Monday, will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
Wurl lived on Hoover Road. He died Monday afternoon (Sept. 24, 1990) in Lockport Memorial Hospital after the cherry picker he was operating for Ferguson Electric hit a ditch and overturned at the Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corp., Town of Lockport.
Born in North Tonawanda, he was a 20-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and had attended Niagara-Wheatfield Central School and Trott Vocational High School, Niagara Falls.
He was an Army veteran and an avid fisherman and bow hunter.
He was a member of St. Paul Church, where he also served on the church maintenance board; Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion, and the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Gail Wendt; two sons, Jonathan and Andrew; his parents, Fred and Betty; a brother, Dennis, and a sister, Kathleen Kowalik, all of Wheatfield

"Edd" Kolbe, Jr., of Fruitland Park, FL, formerly of Newfane, NY, husband of Carole (Tarno) Kolbe, entered into rest on March 17, 2021 at home with his wife by his side after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born in N. Tonawanda, NY, the son of the late Edward and Norma Louise (Siefke) Kolbe.
Edd and Carole were married on April 6, 1968 in California. He graduated from Barker high school in '61 and after graduation enlisted in the Navy serving eight years as an aviation ordnance aircrew man on the P3 Orion. He always enjoyed saying he never served aboard a ship. He retired in 1999 after 30 years at Harrison Radiator (GM). Edd enjoyed sports, playing or watching, especially the Buffalo Bills.
Besides his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his sister, Barbara (Paul) Hammond; his brother, Phillip (Virginia) Kolbe; his nieces, Linda (Scott) Greer and Tara Heitzenrater; his great-niece, Abigail (Heitzenrater) Haag; great-nephews, Craig Heitzenrater, Mark Woodard and Christopher Woodard. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Ellen Craine; and nephew, P. J. Hammond.
At Edd's request his body was donated to science and there will be no memorial service.
