- EFFINGHAM — Alvin G. Haack, 93, of Effingham went to his eternal rest at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham, with the Rev. Theodore C. Gall officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham, and one hour before the service Saturday at the church. Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham, or Lutheran Care Center, Altamont. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com. Alvin was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Dieterich, the son of Robert and Louise (Schorman) Haack. He married Dorothy Proefrock on Aug. 17, 1952, in Altamont and she survives. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham, and a past trustee of the church. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 841. He was a heavy equipment operator and a farmer. He loved NASCAR racing. Alvin is survived by his wife, Dorothy Haack of Effingham; daughters, Nancy (husband, Tom) Marrs of Montrose, Janet (husband, Bob) Brinkopf of Effingham and Linda (husband, Mark) Kissel of Conifer, Colo.; grandchildren, Paul Marrs, Jeffrey Brinkopf, David Brinkopf, Elizabeth (husband, Rick) Dasenbrock, Christina (husband, Christopher) Hogan, Kimberly Kissel, Amanda Kissel and Nicole Kissel; two great-granddaughters, McKenzie and Abigail Brinkopf; sisters, Leona Miller and Evelyn (husband, Howard) Miller, both of Montrose, and Betty (husband, Kenneth) Wachtel of Altamont.
