Welcome!
My search for family roots began when a Laur girl married a Lauer guy. Were these two secretly related? Somewhere in our history someone must have either added or deleted the “E” in the name. We must have come from the same roots. And so the search began. No-one had ever kept any true historic records. At least that’s what they said. So…this project required talking to numerous people – the older the better. And then the records and memories were discovered which were long forgotten. It was soon discovered that the Laur branch came from a town in Germany by the name of Laichingen. The Lauer branch was not so easy to trace. As far as can be determined at this time, the German records of the Lauer family were destroyed in the Second World War because they were from the western part of Germany near the France border called Alsae-Lorraine.
