Elmore Wicker Bewley, wife of the late Richard Bewley and for many years a teacher of dancing in Lockport, will be held at 2:30 tomorrow at the family home, Lake Avenue. The Rev. John S Carrie, rector of Christ Episcopal Church, will officiate and burial will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. A native or Lockport who had been active in social affairs and who was respected by close friends for her quiet philanthropies, Mrs. Bewley died Friday at Lockport City Hospital after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Berenice Woodward Wicker and was educated in Lockport Public Schools and the Bettinger Business Institute before being employed by the former Lockport Daily Journal and the Thompson Milling Company In Lockport and the Woodward Insurance Agency In Niagara Falls. Mrs. Bewley later opened a dance studio in the Hodge Opera House and continued it In the Bewley Building alter the opera house was destroyed by fire. She also taught dancing at De- Veaux School. Niagara Falls, and conducted classes at the Lockport YWCA until her retirement. A member of the Zonta Club, the New Century Club, Christ Church and Lockport Chapter 73, OES. He had been town highway superintendent 12 years before becoming supervisor. Born in Niagara Falls, he went to Wilson 35 years ago to engage in farming. Mc- Clellan of Buffalo took place Saturday evening at the home of the bnde, 729 Old Niagara road, the Rev. .Dr. Jami- son of the Second Presbyterian church officiating. Promptly at 7 o'clock to the strains of the wedding march played by Miss" Florence McClellan of Buffalo, the wedding party took their' places under an arch in the corner of the parlor. First came little Ruth Emma Rogers, cousin of the bride as flower girl, then Miss Leone F Bowler . sister of the bride, as ring bearer. carrying a large- white lilly from which hung the wedding ring. Both were dressed in white. Then came the bride who wore a gown of white crepe meteor trimmed with point lace and a veil of tulle with wreath of white sweet peas.. Her flowers were white roses in a shower bouquet. Miss Frances Mohn of Newfane bridesmaid, wore a gown of crepe-de-chine with arm bouquet of sweet peas. Vincent Bowler, brother of the bride acted as best man. A reception and supper was given after the ceremony, about 75 guests being present. The bride's table with covers for 12. was centered with carnations. Roses and carnations were also used through the rooms, The bride received many beautiful gifts of cut glass and silver also a purse of gold. Breitsman, 85, of Ridge Road, Jeddo, died Sunday (May 10, 1964) in Medina Memorial Hospital an hour after he was struck by a car while crossing Rt. 104 about 800 feet east of County Line Road. Orleans Sheriff deputies said Mr. Breitsman, a retired carpenter, was struck by a car driven by Andrew J. West, 45, of Middleport. The driver told deputies he had just passed a vehicle with one light and did not see Mr- Breitsman crossing the road. No charges were pressed against Mr West. Mr. Breitsman was born in the Town of Ridgeway on May 16. 1878, the son of Charles and Mary Breitsman and lived in Jeddo most of his life. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. C. Leslie Seefeldt of Knowlesville and Mrs. Elroy D. Powley of Lockport; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 10093 | Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 5/13/1960 Miss Elizabeth Joyce Bedrord became the bride of Bernard Bloom Saturday morning at 9:30 in St. John The Baptist Church. The couple repeated their wedding vows before the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Francis A. Clancy at the altar enhanced by arrangements of white gladioli. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mn. Marvin James Bedford of the Wheeler Rd., Lockport The groom is the son of Mrs Francis Bloom of Medina. PRINCESS GOWN Mr. Bedford gave his daughter in marriage. Her princess style gown of Chantilly lace was fashioned with a Peter Pan collar, edged with seed pearls and sequins which was repeated in the bouffant skirt ending in a sweep train. A lace cap with a crown of seed pearls held her veil of illusion, and she carried a colonial bouquet of sweetheart roses and carnations. Maid of honor was Miss Sharon S. Bedford, die bride's sister. Her ballerina - length gown of orchid taffeta with lace panel inserts was styled with a scoop neckline and bow at the back. She wore a matching halo headpiece with face veil and carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations. Bridesmaids were the Misses Beverly Harper of Appleton and Kathleen La Mountain. Their bouquets and ensembles, fas blue and pink respectively, were like that of the maid of honor. Joan Bedford, the bride's sister, was flower girl. She wore a blue nylon and lace dress and carried a nosegay of pink and white carnations. Lt. James Bloom of Ft. Knox, Ky. attended his brother as best man. Ushering duties were per- formed by George La Mountain, nephew of the bride, and William Buddenhagen. GRANDMOTHER ATTENDS For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Bedford chose a Dior blue lace dress over taffeta with pink and white accessaries and a pink rose corsage. The groom's mother wore a brown lace dress over taffeta with matching accessories and a brown orchid corsage. Mrs. Patrick Parker, grandmother of the bride, chose a black and white ensemble complemented by a white carnation corsage. A wedding dinner followed by a reception for 190 guests, was served in the Knights of Columbus Hall. Aa heirloom lace cloth covered the table which held me wedding cake and flowered cancue holders with tail white tapers. The bride was wearing a navy blue suit drees, white accessories and a white orchid corsage as the couple left for a trip to California. They will live in Lockport on their return. Guests were present from Canada, Akron, Albion, lockport and Niagara Falls. Anna Rands Bradley, 78. a resident of Newfane the past several years, died suddenly Saturday evening at her home in West avenue, that village, of heart disease. In ill health for some time past. she hail, however, felt well enough to call on friends Saturday afternoon, and she celebrated her birthday last Tuesday. She was born Sept. 18, 1885 In Buffalo, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Unterfenger. She had lived in Cambria for the past 15 years with her husband, Wal ter H. Beyer, who survives. Mrs. Beyer was a member of Cambria Fire Auxiliary and the Ladies Aid Society of Cambria Congregational Church. Besides her husband, surviving are four sons, Charles of Lockport; Richard of Cambria; Roy W. of Tacoma, Wash.; and Floyd of Wilson; two daughters, Mrs. Jacob KoH>, North Tonawanda; and Mrs. John Scholl, Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Bars.
