At 7 o'clock the bridal party entered the church to the strains of the Lohengrin Weddlng March rendered by Mrs. Floyd Cothran of Orangeport. The Rev.Lyle S. Owen performed the service In the presence of the immediate families and a few friends.The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a powder blue crepe dress of street length, with matching blue felt hat. She wore a shoulder corsage of pink roses and white carnations. Her sister Mrs Albert Kramp of Gasport and Mrs.George Prttchard of Hartland were attendants. Each wore blue and red corsasres. George Moden and Albert Kramp attended the groom.Preceding the service Mrs Harriet Jessup sang "O Promise Me."Following the ceremonies a reception was held In the home of the bride's parents. Hawkes who died in 1974.Born Sept. 7, 1894, in Middleport, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mattie (Cooper) Schilling. She and her husband had raised show horses and jumpers at their home on Stone Road. Rev. Paul Franenfeld of Lockport, assisted by Rev. B. H. Knuebel of Wolcottsville officiated, Mrs. Dean and Miss Fredricks of Lockport accompanied by Miss (illegible) at the piano, rendered two beautiful selections The floral offerings were many and beautiful showing the esteem the deceased was held. Mrs. Hill was born in Wolcottsville, July 18, 1923, a daughter of the late George F. and Esther L. (Pfohl) Marks. On September 22, 1956, she married Fred W. Hill and she was a long time Medina resident. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Harrison Radiator Division of GMC for 14 years and later by the Medina Central School District, as a teacher’s aide for 11 years, assisting in the elementary reading lab. She retired in 1981.An active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York, she served as a Past Senior Warden and Deanery of the Sunday school at St. John’s Church. She was a licensed Lay Reader, Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Vestry and choir and was active in the Episcopal Cursillo community. Mrs. Hill was a long time member of the Medina Tuesday Club and the Book Discussion Group at Lee-Whedon Memorial Library. She enjoyed square dancing, golf and traveling.Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Fred W.; three children, Mark D. Hill, Gary G. (Marlene) Hill, both of Medina and Marjorie Ellen (Ronald) Robison of Hilton; seven grandchildren, Tammy and Kristie Robison, Rhonda Cavanaugh, David and Danny Hill, Matthew and Andrew Bishara; two great grandchildren, Rachel Jean Daly and Clay Frederick Daly; two sisters, Ruth (Joseph) Lydston and Shirley Licata, both of Lockport; nieces and nephews. Dead are the Rev. Walter Lindke, 49, and his son Donald, 17. Another passenger in the car, unidentified by the pastor's family in the area, was also killed. The son of Frederick and Anna Lindke, the Rev. Lindke was born in Wolcottsville, where he received his early education. He began his study for the ministry at Houghton College and was graduated from Concordia College in Springfield, Ill. Mr. Lindke served churches in Washington D.C., Missouri and Illinois before going to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Bolton two years ago. He formerly lived in Barker and Lockport, and at one time was employed by the Upson Company. Surviving are his widow, Bertha, three sons and a daughter, James, Thomas, Allan and Lois, all of Balaton; Also his mother, Mrs. Anna Lindke of Wolcottsville, and two sisters,Mrs. Sylvia Winslow and Mrs. Lillian Ziegler of Wolcottsville. He has lived in the Lockport area all of his life and had worked at Harrison Radiator Division as a tool designer retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville, a former member and past President of the Rapids Fire Company and he enjoyed his family and loved animals and had owned horses. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Claude in 1978; and by a sister, Ruth Genet. He is survived by his three children, Albert (Carolyn) Claude of Lockport, Cordell Claude of Rochester and Terri (Dan) Scungio of Virginia; four granddaughters, Suann Mathews, Julie Shine, Kristin Ulicky and Sara Scungio. Betty Jane was the owner/manager of Betty Jane Cabins and co-owned with her husband, Goodman's Garage, both located at Goodman's Corners in Newfane. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge and enjoyed knitting, crafts, quilting, and canning. She then went onto work at the Akron Central School in the custodial department for several years, and also enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. Roberta was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville, NY, where she served on the Ladies Aid committee. Mrs. Pafk enjoyed being a member of the Wolcottsville Senior Citizens and the Leisure Timers Senior Citizens of the Tonawanda Indian Reservation, Inc. Plaster, 87, retired Lockport barbershop proprietor, who died Saturday afternoon (August 11, 1956) at his home, 400 Washburn St. will be held at the home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, The Rev. Herman Meier, Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate, Burial will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. When he retired about 10 ten years ago, Mr. Plaster had been in the barber business here for 64 years. He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at his home on August 3. Born in Buffalo, Jan 26, 1869, Mr. Plaster was the son of Paul H. and Caroline A. Henning Plaster. He came here with his parents at the age of three. Mr. Plaster learned the barber trade from his father when he was in his teens. He worked in his father's shop, which was founded in 1876 on the second floor at 51 Main Street, after his father's death in 1904, he and his brother, Charles F. entered a partnership there under the name of Plaster brothers. The partnership continued until Charles died in 1945, Albert retired about a year later. Mr. Plaster liked to recall that when he learned the trade, a haircut cost 20 cents and a shave was few only a dime. Usually the barber would give both for a quarter, Beards, common in those days, were trimmed free as a part of the haircut. Barbers opened their shops at 7 in the morning and worked until 9 at night, later on Saturdays. Despite these long hours, Mr. Plaster found time to participate in the activities of his church. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where she made all the banners for the church and she volunteered at the Medina Hospital office for 14 years. Mrs. Schultz enjoyed her family and she also enjoyed making patchwork quilts. She is survived by her husband, Elmer G. 10797 | Lockport Union Sun & Journal, September 9, 2010 Doris A. Kraatz, of Middleport passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina, NY. Mrs. Kraatz was born in the Town of Royalton on January 17, 1922, daughter of the late Frank and Hattie (Eick) Duchow and she has lived in Middleport all of her life. She was employed as a cafeteria worker at the Middleport Elementary School. She was a Charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and was also on the Church Board at Holy Cross. She collected antique and porcelain dolls, enjoyed being a homemaker, baking and she enjoyed her family and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur G. Kraatz in 2000; a son, Clay Kraatz in 1983; and by two sisters, Violet Quintern and Eunice Velesko. She is survived by a daughter, Melane (John) Shuttleworth of Middleport; and a son, Larry (Janine) Kraatz of Holley; also surviving are six grandchildren, Amy (Thomas) Conley of Middleport, Heidi (Justin) Collins of Ohio, Stephen Shuttleworth of Nevada, Taramarie Kraatz, Katie Kraatz and Felicia Kraatz, all of Holley; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Donna.
