She is cherished by the many kids she babysat and adored them as adults.
We fondly remember the fun she had on the golf course with Mel and the smell of freshly baked treats while walking into their home. She was the Thanksgiving matriarch of the family, never forgot a birthday and had a sweet tooth until the very end. She was a very special person to everyone.

1136 John McIntyre Life Story

John Paul McIntyre – February 22, 1949 – January 12, 2024

John P. McIntyre, 74, of Wheatfield, NY, peacefully entered into eternal rest at Northgate Health Care Facility, where he had been receiving hospice care, surrounded by his loving family.

Born February 22, 1949, John was the son of Oscar and Dorothy (Clugston) McIntyre.  He is survived by his son, Adam (Aline) and beloved grandson, Logan; sister, Barbara (Sheehan) and brothers, James (Jean) and Douglas, and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his dear wife of over 40 years, Beverly (Brown), and brothers, William (Ella) and Robert.

John was a 1967 graduate of Lockport Senior High.  After high school, he was very active in the local music scene, most notably as bass player in the popular group, Bags.  He was a graduate of Niagara County Community College, Niagara University and Buffalo State.

He held a number of accounting and managerial positions with area businesses and was a long-time adjutant professor in the Business Department at NCCC and greatly enjoyed teaching Business Law.

John’s love for music continued throughout his life: his bass guitar seldom left his hand and his ability to play along to the radio by ear was a point of pride. A confirmed bibliophile, his library was voluminous; John took great pleasure in visiting the library and touring local bookstores, his “latest reads” always on the kitchen table.  Finally, John was a true patriot and proud American, his love for his country embodied in his American flag, which he flew proudly every day of the year.

Quiet by nature, John had a very quick sense of humor that frequently left others wondering if his often-wry comments were serious or not; they seldom were.  He greatly enjoyed descending to his basement lair, cranking up some of his favorite tunes (on vinyl of course) and rocking-out on his well-worn Fender bass guitar.  He was delighted when his grandson Logan decided to follow in his footsteps and took up the bass.

The greatest compliment John could pay was calling someone a “good man”; he certainly was himself. He will be greatly missed.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).  Family and friends are invited to attend John’s funeral service and life celebration on Thursday, January 18th, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda, NY, with Rev. Ernest Green III officiating.  Everyone assemble at the church.  Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery.
