NORTH TONAWANDA - Doris Marian Stringfellow (nee Martin), age 78, passed away March 19, 2014, following a brief illness. Mrs. Stringfellow was born January 10, 1936 in North Tonawanda, daughter of the late William and Myrtle (nee Peters) Martin. Mrs. Stringfellow was very active in the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451 Auxiliary where her husband was an active post member. Wife of the late Fred C. Stringfellow; beloved mother of Carol A. (Don) Scalice, Barbara J. (Ted) Bunce, Terri L. (Jay) Nealen and Fred C. (Wendy) Stringfellow; devoted grandmother of Nicholas (Jamie) Scalice, Jennifer (Jonathan) Payne, Joseph Scalice, Matthew Scalice, Jonathan Shafer, Andrew and Caroline Stringfellow and Claire Nealen; great-grandmother of four; sister of Jean Siegmann, Carol VeRost, Donna Stec, Francis Lewis, Edna Sokol, Shirley Weich, late Walter Smith, late Arlene Kuehn, late Lillian Kolbe, late William, late Albert, late Eugene Martin and late Loretta Weich; also survived by nieces and nephews. LOCKPORT — Lucy Prohaska passed away on March 27, 2012 after a long illness. Lucy was born on May 24, 1926 in Providence, RI, the daughter of Louis and Antoinette (DeAngelo) Farina.

She worked for 31 years in production at Harrison Radiator, Div. of G.M. retiring in 1984. Lucy was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church.

Lucy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Paul Prohaska; sister of Dominic (Betty) Farina of Lockport and the late Angelo, Anthony, Louis Farina, Bridget Campisano and Virginia Fink; also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret (the late Anthony) Beringer; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Friday morning, March 30th, 2012 at 10 AM in All Saints Parish Oratory, 391 Market Street, Lockport, NY. MEDINA — Helen L. Herendeen, of Middleport, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina, NY. Mrs. Herendeen was born in Medina, NY on June 4, 1911, daughter of the late William and Lydia (Jagow) Mittlestadt.

She had lived in the Barker-Middleport area all of her life and she was employed at Spafford's Greenhouse in Barker, NY. She enjoyed her family, playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles and reading.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Herendeen in l996; a son, Kenneth Mittlestadt; a grandson, Paul Mittlestadt; a great-grandson, Kenneth Mittlestadt and her siblings, Clarence Mittlestadt, Irene Stoll and Esther Mittlestadt.

She is survived by a daughter, Esther (Allan) Gilbert and a daughter-in-law, Aleith (Len) Godleske, all of Middleport. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Diane (Brian) Johnson of Lockport, David (Craig) Gilbert of California, Daniel Gilbert, Deborah (Robert) Faltyn, Darrell (Jackie) Gilbert, all of Middleport, Mark (Kim) Mittlestadt of Arizona and Karen Mittlestadt of Lockport. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great- grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Clarence Elliott officiating. Burial will be in West Ridgeway Cemetery.

ALBANY — LeRoy F. Van Luven, 94, of North Syracuse, died February 23, 2012 in Albany, NY.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY to Harry and Florence (Armstrong) Van Luven, Roy lived in Lewiston, Lockport and Liverpool, NY, Oak Ridge, TN, and Bradenton, FL. He moved to North Syracuse in 1953. Roy was predeceased by his son, LeRoy R.; and by his beloved wife of 65 years, Irene. He was the brother of Harry James (Jim) Van Luven (Florence Buyhoff) of Lockport, NY, Helen Bristol (John), and Lois Van Luven, all of Niagara Falls, NY.

After graduating high school, Roy worked days and attended Niagara University in the evenings. During this time, he met and married his sweetheart, Irene. Roy also attended Columbia University and the University of Tennessee. Roy loved music and had a show on radio station WHLD in Niagara Falls. Roy's favorite job was as chief radio announcer for the Union Sun & Journal radio station WUSJ in Lockport. Roy often spoke with great fondness of his time at this station.

Roy worked in operations, research and instrumentation in the heavy chemical industry, most notably for Hooker Chemical Co., Lake Ontario Ordnance Works, Carbide and Carbon Chemicals Corp., and DuPont Chemical Corp. In addition, Roy created Lock City Chemical Company. While with Carbide and Carbon Chemicals Corp, Roy went to the atomic energy program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee to work on the "Manhattan Project."

Roy worked as a manufacturer's representative of technical industrial process and control equipment before starting his own successful company, Control Components, Inc. He was a life member and past President of the International Society of Automation.

Roy was a devoted husband and family man and loved animals. Roy was well-known for his magnificent voice and was frequently called upon to sing at weddings. In his younger days, he would sing at the nine o'clock High Mass in the Catholic church, then run over to the Presbyterian church in time to sing at the 10:30 services!

An avid reader with a quick wit and curious mind, Roy never stopped learning. He was truly a Renaissance man. Among his many interests were flying light planes, boating, oil, pastel and charcoal painting, reading and writing poetry, performing in local theater and musicals, photography and electronics.

Roy was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of their choir.

Roy is survived by his son, R. Paul Van Luven of Cicero, NY; and his daughter, Lorraine Van Luven of North Syracuse; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

NORTH TONAWANDA — Shirley A. Wolcott, age 74, of North Tonawanda, passed away on March 27, 2012, following an extended illness. Mrs. Wolcott was born on April 3, 1937, daughter of the late John and Frances Moore.

Mrs. Wolcott attended local schools. She was head cashier for Twin Fair Stores and then for the Value Home Center. Mrs. Wolcott was a life-member of Payne Ave. Christian Church and a former member of the Order of the Amaranth. Her hobbies included camping, embroidery, crocheting and knitting.

Beloved wife of Cecil W. Wolcott of North Tonawanda; beloved mother of Susan L. (Aaron) Lyon of North Carolina; loving grandmother of Sandra S. Szewczuk and Jennifer M. (Mark) Doyle; sister of Norma (Wayne) Schaeffer, Beatrice (Marvin) Tooke, late Arlene Bell, late June Zacher, late Ronnie Walker and late Robert Reinbolt; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Bertram E. Gardner, born on March 3, 1924 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Bertram was a WWII veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served as a Communications Expert of the Air-Sea Rescue team. He was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls.
Bertram was co-owner of Bucholtz and Gardner Heating and was employed by Gross Plumbing & Heating and Gray Furnace Services in Niagara Falls, NY. Bert's favorite song was "I Did It My Way" and so is the way he lived his life. Bert loved to fish and gamble. Las Vegas was his favorite vacation destiny.
He was predeceased by his former wife of 42 years, Maureen Ivy (Stuart) Gardner; loving father of James E. Gardner (Sue) of Joliet, IL, Cheryl (William) Kochan of Niagara Falls, NY, Trish Gardner of Sanborn, NY, and Robert Gardner (Robert's mother, Teresa Gardner) of Niagara Falls, NY; grandfather of Terry E. Cathy Marie World, age 58, of Wilson, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Born March 18, 1955 in Newfane, Cathy is the daughter of the late Mahlon E. and Catherine M. (Hedden) World.
Cathy was a graduate of Wilson Central Schools. She worked cleaning houses in the Wilson and Newfane areas. She also delivered the Metro Retailer in Wilson. Cathy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, walking and talking to her neighbors and going to church functions. She was a wonderful aunt and loved being with her nieces and nephews.
Cathy is survived by her siblings, Gary World of Lockport, Joan (Dale) Wilson of Wilson, Lisa (Daryl) Austin of Wilson and Karen (Andre) Morrison of Woodlawn, TN; dear aunt of Derek and Jessica Wilson, Lauren, Madelyn, and Jacob Austin, and Dominyck and Kristian Morrison. Cathy is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Harold Herman Stolzenberg of Burt, husband of Patricia Foley Stolzenberg, entered into rest on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Eastern Niagara Hospital. Harold was born in Newfane, NY on September 25, 1934, son of the late Herman and Caroline Schultz Stolzenberg.
Harold and Patricia were married on July 17, 1954. He retired from Harrison Radiator in 1991 after 31 years. Harold and his brother Don ran D and H Service Station in the late 50s and early 60s. Harold also enjoyed racing stock cars at Ransomville and Holland Speedways. In 1995, Harold and his brother-in-law, John Foley, were in the Great Race which rallied from Ottawa to Mexico City, they were in a 1936 Plymouth and won in his class. He showed a 1946 Ford in Lockport and Olcott Cruise Nights. Harold was an exempt member of the Olcott Fire Company and a member of the Lake Erie Region Antique Auto Club of America.
Father of Donna (James) Lingle, Robert (Melynda) Stolzenberg and Douglas Stolzenberg, all of Burt, NY. Grandfather of Michael (Jennifer) Lingle, Matthew (Margaux) Lingle, Joshua Lingle, Samantha (Michael) McAllister and Steven Stolzenberg. Great-Grandfather of Alan, Simon, Myles and Oliver Lingle; Jenna, Kiara, Riley and Seth McAllister; Hudson and Emerson Lingle. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. NIAGARA FALLS — Meriam L. (Diehl) Tedesco, age 87, formerly of 61st Street, Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2011 in Our Lady of Peace Health Care Center in Lewiston, NY. She was born in Westover, PA, on August 17, 1923 to the late Willis and Cynthia (Eagler) Diehl.

Meriam was educated in the Westover School System and moved to Niagara Falls in 1940. On July 22, 1949 the former Meriam L. Diehl married Thomas S. Tedesco in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. He died January 1, 1996. Mrs. Tedesco worked as a packer for Kimberly Clark for over 21 years retiring in the 1960's. Meriam enjoyed traveling. She traveled the world including Russia, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Hawaii. When she was at home she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth (Emmett) Berard of Niagara Falls, NY, Gladys (late Joseph) Russo of Denver, CO; her devoted companion, Donald Insalaco of Niagara Falls, NY; a brother-in-law, Harold Russo of Jacksonville, NC; sister-in-law, Louise Diehl; and several nieces and nephews. Meriam was predeceased by her husband; her parents; two brothers; the late Francis and James Diehl; and a sister the late Dorothy Russo.

The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 3:00-6:00 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, where prayers will be said on Saturday morning at 10:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, NY at 11:00 AM. RANSOMVILLE — Wendy Jo (Machaby) Kavanaugh, age 57, of Ransomville, NY, left this world to fly with the Angels on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, to parents, Donna and Hector Machaby.

She graduated from Niagara Wheatfield H.S. in 1971, and also graduated from Niagara County Community College, Buffalo State College, and Washington State University. She beautifully played eleven instruments, all of which she was self taught. She once was the 3rd chair Bassonist in the Buffalo Philharmonic. Wendy was a very skilled craftswoman, hulling and spinning raw wool that she sheared from sheep, hand dyed, and made wearable clothing to sell in her shop, Meadow Creek Weaving, in Palmer, Washington.

Predeceased by parents, Hector and Donna Machaby. She leaves behind a sister, Sherry (Sissy) (Bill) Benz of Ransomville, NY; daughter, Callie Benz of Ransomville, NY; nephews, Nicholas Benz of Niagara Falls, NY and Wm. Jr. (Pamela) Benz of Woodstock, GA; great-niece and great-nephew, Caitlin and Colin Benz also of Woodstock , GA; also survived by the residents and staff of Heritage Manor of Ransomville; and her special friend, Ed Weber.

There will be no visitation, however there will be a memorial service at a later date. Donations will be gratefully accepted by Save-A-Pet of Lockport, due to both her love of animals. Arrangements were made by Hardison Funeral Home.

Allen P. Walck, Sr., 80, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY, following a lengthy illness. Born on November 4, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Evelyn H. (Blank) Walck.
Mr. Walck attended local schools and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1950 of Niagara Falls High School. Allen also attended Capital University in Columbus, OH. He served in the United States Army, as a Specialist Third Class, from May 14, 1956 until his honorable discharge on April 19, 1958. On August 5, 1961, Mr. Walck married the former Diane D. Dargis in St. John de LaSalle Roman Catholic Church. She predeceased him on January 6, 2013. For thirty dedicated years, Allen worked as a Jr. Civil Engineer for the Niagara County Department of Public Works, until his retirement in 1992. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn, NY and was a former member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company, where he currently was serving as treasurer for their Exempts Organization. Mr. Walck enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word searches, fishing, coin collecting, walking around Goat Island and going to cardiac rehabilitation at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Above all, Allen loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Walck is survived by two sons, Allen P. (Audrey) Walck, Jr. of Avon, NY and Christopher Walck of the Town of Niagara, NY, who was an excellent caregiver to both of his parents. Allen is also survived by two grandchildren, Zachary and Benjamin Walck; three brothers-in-law, Stanley (Cleo) Dargis of Mt. View, AR, Kenneth (Patricia) Dargis of Wilmington, DE and William (Nancy) Dargis of Grove City, PA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Lange and Patricia Schearer.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). A prayer service will be held by the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company on Monday at 7:00 PM in the Funeral Chapel. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, April 2nd at 11:00 AM which will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY. Carleton R. Andrews, 69, of North Tonawanda, Thursday (March 28, 2013), surrounded by family at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Carleton was born in Niagara Falls on February 13, 1944 to James G. and Evelyn D. (O'Neil) Andrews. Carleton was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a Vietnam Veteran serving in the Army Infantry, former employee of Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., avid New York Yankees fan, and most of all, he enjoyed his spending time with his grandchildren.
Carleton is survived by his loving wife, Leigh R. (Peters) Andrews; father of Kelly (Jason) Francis, Daniel P., and Lindsey (Hector) Acevedo; brother of Shirley Markuson, James (Gloria), Gerald (Connie), and the late Diane (Stanley) Kasperzak; grandfather of Kacey, Jason, and Madison Francis, Nataleigh, and Nevaeh Acevedo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

LEONARDTOWN, MD - Sven T. Nelson, formerly of Lockport, NY, passed away on February 11, 2014 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on March 25, 1931 in New York City, he was the son of Sven Axel and Martha Elvira Nelson.

Sven Nelson lived most of his life in Niagara County, NY. He was a 1953 graduate of New York State Maritime College, where at graduation he was recognized by alumni as the cadet who accomplished the most for athletics. He was subsequently selected into the college's Sports Hall of Fame.

Sven worked at the Chevrolet Tonawanda Engine Plant for 27 years and at retirement held the position of Superintendent of Plant Engineering. In addition, he was registered for practice in New York State as a Professional Engineer.

Sven is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma Jean Nelson (nee Phelan) of California, Maryland; a son, Richard (Amy) Nelson of Lusby, MD; a daughter, Cynthia Nelson (Carter Rawson) of Takoma Park, MD, and three grandchildren.

SANBORN — Donald R. Kroening, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital Lewiston, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on May 2, 1952, the son of Rose (Zastrow) Kroening and the late Raymond Kroening.

Don graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1970. He was employed with Harrison Radiator, later Delphi, for over 35 years, before retiring in 2005. Don was an Exempt Member of the Pekin Fire Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid sportsman.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janelle L. (Wendt) Kroening; three daughters, Melissa (Gordon) Hermanson, Jr. of Sanborn, NY, Kelly (Bryan) Lane of Rochester, NY and Rachel (George) Sisson, Jr. of Amherst, NY; one granddaughter, Kaylee Lane; three brothers, Ronald (Sandra) Kroening, David (Sue) Kroening and Mark (Donna) Kroening, all of Ransomville, NY; one sister-in-law, Debra Kroening; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Don was the brother of the late Gary Kroening.

NORTH TONAWANDA - Patricia L. Woods, formerly of Niagara Falls, died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility. She was 69. She was born in North Tonawanda on June 27, 1944, the daughter of the late Erwin and Mildred (Schoenfeld) Krull.

Mrs. Woods worked in the Gilmore School Cafeteria and as a tray girl at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. A member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Patricia enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was a member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) as well.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Jerry A. Woods; five sons, Terry Woods, Niagara Falls; Richard Woods, Henderson, NV; Jerry Michael Woods (Maureen), Holiday, FL; Donald Woods (Marybeth) of Clarence Center, and Eric Kleiner of Niagara Falls; siblings, Judith Zastrow of Wheatfield; Jim Krull (Barbara) of Wheatfield; Paul Krull (Anita) of Ohio; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Burge, age 61, of Niagara Falls, was called to his heavenly home on March 30, 2011, with his loving family at his side, after he valiantly fought a battle with lung cancer, and under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 11, 1949 to the late Elmer and Lorraine (Hasley) Burge. Brian graduated from Lew-Port High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 when he was honorably discharged. Brian was employed as a chemical operator at Goodyear in Niagara Falls. He enjoyed shooting pool, working the NY Times crossword puzzles, cooking special meals for the family and was a voracious reader of books and newspapers. Brian was a quiet man with a keen sense of humor and was greatly loved and admired by his family.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Linda (Arone) Burge; a daughter, Christina (Nathan) Isgett of Taylors, SC; a son, Jeffrey Burge of Niagara Falls; brother, Curtis (Cindy) Burge of Niagara Falls; an aunt, Iris (John) Kuder and several cousins.

Mrs. Jaworski was born in North Tonawanda on October 8, 1941 to Gerard and Alice (Strasser) Davignon. Mrs. Jaworski was predeceased by her husband, Richard Jaworski; her children, Christopher and Dawn Laport.

Susie is survived by her children, Jean (Steve) Krebs, Annette (Douglas), John (Marie), Kathy (Rayhan), Lynn (Larry), Richard Jr. (Kandi), Norman (Penny), Kevin (Lisa); also survived by two brothers two sisters; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Norman R. Bilski, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on March 28, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Lucy (Szykalski) Bilski. Norman was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School and also completed various courses in electrical engineering. Norman was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and took part in the invasions of New Guinea and the D-Day assault on Normandy. Norman served as a radio man, and was a veteran of eight years active duty in the Navy, including 36 months overseas during World War II, and was assigned to the Naval Air Reserve Transport Squadron 851. During World War II in the Southwest Pacific area, he served 11 months aboard a Navy landing craft infantry ship. He took part in the initial landing assaults on Japanese-held positions along the East Coast of New Guinea, Goodenough and Woodlark Islands.
He was later assigned aboard another landing craft infantry in the European theater and served in the English Channel area from Feb. 1944 to August 1945. During the June 6, 1944, D-Day invasion of Omaha Beach in Normandy, France, his ship took part in the first wave of invading amphibious landing craft. He also took part in the invasion landings on Utah Beach, Normandy, France. Following the invasion beachhead landings, Norman's ship shuttled troops from England to France until V-E Day. During the Korean War, he was recalled to active duty for two years and served as supervisor of the communications department of Naval Headquarters in New Orleans, LA. He received Four Bronze Stars for his service.
On August 8, 1945, he married Jenny (Zemla) Bilski in Niagara Falls, NY. Norm worked as an electronic technician at Bell Aircraft in Wheatfield, NY and at Uhl Haul & Rich as an office clerk during the construction of the NYS Power Project. He later worked as a teletype operator for Great Lakes Carbon in Niagara Falls. Norman was also the owner and operator of Bilski's No Name Tavern in Niagara Falls, NY. In his earlier years, he played accordion with local bands, and in his leisure time played the organ. Norman enjoyed his daily visits to Tim Horton's with his wife, Jenny, and centered his life on his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of sixty-seven years, he is survived by a daughter, Norma J. Genovese (Peter J. Marra) of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Christopher (Tonjua) Lohnes, Lynn (Mark) Brown and Richard Genovese; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brock Lohnes, and Andrea and Amanda Brown; a niece, Joan (Bob) Dorn, a great-niece, Katie; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Norman was predeceased by four sisters, Helen Orleman, Fritzie (late Frank) Pluzdrak, Regina (late Edward) Calhoun, Jean (late Andy) Creston; and one brother, Joseph (late Wanda) Bilski.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3rd from 10:00 -11:00 AM at M.J. LEWISTON - Joanne T. Biggins, 67, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on March 29, 2014, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Lucille (Schumbehl) Price.

Joanne attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1964. On September 4, 1994, she married William J. Biggins at the Falls Wedding Chapel in Niagara Falls. Joanne had an unending love for children and often became a caretaker for them in her home. She was also an avid QVC shopper and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Joanne is survived by her loving daughters, Tina Shammot, Justine Brierley and Lori Farallo, all of Niagara Falls, NY; her step-children, William (April) Biggins and Debbie (Fred) Stempien, both of Niagara Falls, NY; her loving grandchildren, Nicholas Breed, Aaron Adamec, Christian Brierley, Jillian Brierley, Andrew Farallo, Liam Biggins and Aiden Biggins; her siblings, Shirleyann (late Neil) Jarvis, Elaine (Robert) Abersold, Geraldine (Edward) Dawl and Agnes Sulkey. She was a graduate of Auburn Central High School and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church of Weedsport. Deborah had a love of animals, especially her cats, and she enjoyed her QVC shopping.
Deb is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Cutillo of Elbridge; her son, Jeffrey Picciano of Auburn; a sister, Diane (Kent) Evans of Lima; a brother, Daniel (Regina) Wilcox of Hannibal; nephews, Dylan Groom and Riley Whitten of Elbridge. Helen C. Milleville, age 103, lifelong resident of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home on March 3, 2014 while at the Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on November 22, 1910 she was the daughter of the late John W. and Helene E. Milleville.
As a child, Helen attended the St. James Christian Day School and was a lifelong, active member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she was a former Sunday school superintendent and teacher for many years. Helen was also a member of the worship and music committee at the church, and attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Helen was employed for 31 years at the Moore Business Forms, Niagara Falls, as a data input operator, retiring in 1975.
Helen was predeceased by four brothers, Hugo, Rev. Edgar, Carl and Martin Milleville; and five sisters, Elsie Milleville, Thekla DeVantier, Amanda Walck, Ella DeVantier and Ada Mueller. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

LEWISTON — Austin H. Woock, of Niagara Falls, died on Sunday, March 4, 2012 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, after a brief illness. He was 100.

He was a native of Niagara Falls born on July 12, 1911, the son of William F. and Mary (Eberly) Woock. He attended Niagara Falls High School and also completed a course in accounting with the Alexander Hamilton Institute of Chicago.

In 1930, Mr. Woock began his 45-year career with Moore in the office at the Gilman Fanfold Corp, which later became Moore Business Forms, Inc. He served in various office capacities and was manager of Moore's Special Products Dept. at the time of his retirement in 1976.

From 1980 to 1990, he worked part time at Tops Markets as a receiver of Grand Island and for the next 10 years did volunteer work for the Community Missions in Niagara Falls.

Mr. Woock served 3Ù years in the U.S. Army during World War II, and participated in the Normandy Campaign, Northern France, The Rhinelands and Central Europe. He was Radar Technician with Headquarters Battery of the 131st AAA Gun Battalion and attained the rank of Tech Sergeant 3rd grade. He received the European Theatre Medal with four battle stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was a member of the Moore Retiree Club, The American Legion LaSalle Post 1142 and the AARP Association. He also served as President of the former Moore Old Timers Club. He was a member of the former St. Charles R.C. Church.

He is survived by his nieces, Many Ann Woock of Niagara Falls, Nancy Moore of Bell, FL; nephews, Gary L. Woock of Lockport, John A. Woock of Youngstown. He was predeceased by his siblings, William F. Woock and Stanley R. Woock; and nephews, Robert Woock and William Woock, Jr.

NIAGARA FALLS — Patricia Ann Janis, formerly of 72nd Street, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 4, 2012 in Schoellkopf Health Care Center. She was 71. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, on July 24, 1940, the daughter of Frederick and Mary E. (Scotland) Gandt.

She attended local schools. In November of 1966, she married Leonard F. Janis, later blessing their marriage with a son, Leonard; and a daughter, Lori. As a young woman, she worked for Goodbody and Company Brokerage Firm as a secretary for several years. Later in life, when her children were older she worked for Dr. Henry Merletti for several years also as a secretary. As time permitted, she enjoyed crocheting, learning to country line dance, but most especially enjoyed her beloved grandchildren.

Survivors include her two children, Leonard F. Janis and Lori A. Fountain, both of Niagara Falls; her grandchildren, Cheyenne Langer, Cody and Faith Fountain; her brothers and sister, Fred Gandt (Grace) of North Carolina, James E. Gandt (late Georgia) and Mary L. Gandt Brockway (Dave), both of Ransomville; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents; her husband and love of her life, Leonard F. Janis, she was predeceased by her sister, Diane Gandt Deschamps and her husband, Ed.

LOCKPORT — Alma S. Herbst, age 92, of Lockport, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Eastern Niagara Memorial Hospital in Newfane.

Mrs. Herbst was born on February 10, 1920 in Sanborn, NY, the daughter of the late John and Augusta (Stoelting) Strasburg. On January 11, 1947, she married the late Elmore Herbst, who died in January of 1992. For 40 years, together with her husband, they operated Maplehurst Farm on Ridge Road in the Town of Cambria.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, and a past member of its Ladies Aid Society. Alma also enjoyed greeting guests at Maplehurst Bed & Breakfast. She loved baking, quilting, tatting and gardening.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail (David) Miller of Medina, NY and Jill (Ronald) Bargiel of Huntingdon, PA; two sons, John Herbst of Lexington, KY and Mark Herbst of Lockport; her grandchildren, Marshall Herbst (KY), Alicia (Drew) Mease (SC), and Benjamin Bargiel (PA); three great-grandchildren; a sister, Olga (Strasburg) Wermuth of Youngstown; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Robert and Burnett Strasburg; and sisters, Hilda Hermanson, Elena Read and Ida Schworm.

TOWN OF NIAGARA - Gordon Charles Ortt, age 92, of the Town of Niagara, passed away from this life on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at his residence, under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.

He was born August 3, 1921 in Pekin, NY, the son of the late Charles and Carrie (Hillman) Ortt. A decorated WW II U.S. Army veteran, Gordon enlisted in 1942 and served his country as a Military Police officer as part of the 345th Engineer Regiment General Service, both stateside and in Italy. He received a head wound in Anzio during a regular artillery shelling by the Germans, known as "Anzio Annie." He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the American Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with one bronze star, the WW II Victory Medal, the Honorable Service Lapel Button, the Sharpshooter Badge and the Carbine Bar. He was honorably discharged as a Cpl. in 1946.

He was a Mechanic and Truck Driver by trade. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. In his younger years he enjoyed square dancing and was an avid hunter until the age of 86. He enjoyed bingo and was friends with many of his fellow bingo players at Active Hose Fire Hall. Gordon was often found in his garden growing vegetables for canning. He really enjoyed being outdoors in the sun.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (nee Keith) (Moretti) Ortt. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on April 9, 2014. He is also survived by his children, Charles "Chuck" (Darlene) Ortt of Bel Aire, MD, Terry (Kenny) Tompkins and Mark (Julia) Moretti, both of Niagara Falls, NY, Cynthia Innocenti of Canada; his grandchildren, Christina (James), Chuck (Cindy), Earl (Rebecca), Tim, Samantha, Callahan, Michael, Irene, Jennifer, Jeremy, Lindsey, Rachel and Katie; a brother, Milford (Ruth) Ortt; his sisters, Charlotte Stoner-DeLorenzo, Betty Tuttle, Annabelle DiNicolantonio and Carol Brown. Also survived by several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, John Ortt; a sister, Bertha Roberts; and three brothers, Donald, Jim and Ron Ortt. Gordon also leaves behind a wealth of knowledge for his children and grandchildren. From how to break down motors to his little special songs we will remember him and smile. He also leaves behind his friend, David Barry and his Sunday Breakfast and world problem solving best friend, Dave Boorom.

He was the husband of the late Kathleen Vigrass, who died in 2008. LEWISTON — Frances (nee Gresart) Rolfe, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born on August 2, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Frances (Briggs) Gresart.

Mrs. Rolfe was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. On November 25, 1947, Frances married Charles Rolfe in Lewiston, NY. He predeceased her on November 18, 1979. She was a loving person who had a big heart. Mrs. Rolfe would always lend a helping hand and put others first. Frances enjoyed bowling and crocheting. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rolfe is survived by nine children, Sharon Rolfe of Nevada, Rhonda Kneener of Lockport, NY, Charles Rolfe of Niagara Falls, NY, Michael (Wendy) Rolfe of Niagara Falls, NY, Paul (Krissia) Rolfe of Ransomville, NY, Donald Rolfe of Lockport, NY, David Rolfe of Lockport, NY, Frank Rolfe of Niagara Falls, NY, and Monia Earl of Texas, and was predeceased by one daughter, Charlene Hartman. Witold was a member of the Third Warders Social Club.

Ken, as he was known by family and friends, was raised in Elwood, IL and came to Niagara Falls, NY at the age of 16. Since the age of 14, he worked as a mason for various companies. Most recently, Ken was a stay at home dad. He loved cars. Ken enjoyed playing Mob Wars on Facebook, playing darts, hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Ken is survived by his loving companion, Melissa A. Norman Snyder, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was 71. He was born in Niagara Falls on April 5, 1942, a son of the late Norman and Margaret (Crawley) Snyder.
He attended local schools including Military Road School. After school he worked as a mechanic at Western Transmission on Hyde Park Boulevard and then at N.F. International Airport until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Snyder was a classic car and motorcycle enthusiast and was an avid supporter of local businesses and coffee shops, especially Justin Tyme.
He is survived by three children, JoAnn Lanich, Elizabeth (Dave) Rice and Alexander J. (Michele) Snyder; five siblings, Florence (Lewis) D'Antuono, Katherine (Mark) Concialdi, and Deborah, Helen and Edward Snyder. Mr. Snyder was the loving Papa of seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and also had many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Snyder and Richard Snyder (2012).

11193 Marcia Haseley of Lockport, NY passed away peacefully on  March 15th at Kenmore Mercy Hospital.  She was born March 25, 1935, she was the daughter of  Howard and Sarah Brigham. She is survived by her husband, Laurence Haseley, with whom she would have celebrated their 70th anniversary in April.  Marcia  loved spending time with her family, she especially loved the chaos of Christmas morning when the family was able to gather together.
Marcia was predeceased by her loving son, Robert H. (Jane) Haseley, her parents, brother John (Bernice)  Brigham and sister Alice Brigham.   Besides her husband Marcia will be sadly missed by her family, her children Dan (Debi) Haseley, Diane Haseley, Gary (Laura) Haseley and Roger (Tammy) Haseley.  She was also very proud of her nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews.

She was born in Niagara Falls on March 31, 1939,  the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Kaczynski) Pawlowski. 
Marcia graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1957 and married William J. Game on February 4, 1961. 
In addition to meticulous management of the Game family affairs, Marcia was employed over the years at Bell Aerospace, Melody Fair, Opportunities Unlimited, and the American Red Cross,  all of Niagara Falls as well as Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, FL.  She enjoyed her winters for over 25 years  in St. Petersburg and Spring Hill,  Florida. 
Marcia is survived by her husband of 58 years William J. Game, their three children  Michael (Gina) Game, Mark (Jeannie) Game and Michelle (Joel) Brenner, two grandchildren Michael Game, Jr. and Skyler Game, a sister Patricia (late Ben Jr.) Hayes and a brother Joseph (Deborah) Pawlowski, also many nieces and nephews.

Marcia’ s favorite adventure was thrift shopping , She also enjoyed attending concerts at Art Park in Lewiston, but most of all she cherished spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Marcia is survived by her children, Jessica Gilbo, Michael Gilbo and Erin (Edward) Tredo, her grandchildren Aaryk Gilbo, Lillee Gilbo, Michaela Gilbo and Edward Tredo VII, her three sisters, Maggie (Jim) Fortune, JoAnn (Rev. Richard) Neumann and Irene (Jeff) Fraser-Young. Marcia was blessed with her dear friends Deb Latham-Pembleton and Bonnie Coram-Lewis. Marcia was predeceased by the love of her life, Howard Irish, who passed away in 2013.

11196 Marcia M. (Leverentz) Newman, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Schoellkopf Health Center. Born on May 8, 1928 in North Tonawanda, NY, Marcia was the daughter of the late Clarence and Matie (Baehr) Leverentz.  On May 11, 1996, she married Nels E. Newman.
Mrs. Newman graduated from North Tonawanda High School and later from Kelley Business Institute.  Marcia was employed as an engineering secretary for E. I. DuPont.  She was a former member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and currently a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in the Town of Niagara.  For many years, Mrs. Newman served as a volunteer at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital and in her younger years Marcia played bocce ball on the DuPont league.
In addition to her beloved husband, Mrs. Newman is survived by step-children, Sally Mastrangelo, Nels A. Newman, Mary Lynn (Robert) Marcolini and Patricia (David) LeGault; a brother, Fred Dale (June) Secrist; nieces and nephews, James (Eileen) Leverentz, Jane Harris-Hattaway, Paul (Gloria) Leverentz, Thomas (Connie) Harris, William Leverentz, Alice (Dave) Ortiz and Brett Secrist; nine great-nieces and nephews and many great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marcia was predeceased by two siblings, Robert (Lillian) Leverentz and Donna (late James) Harris.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara.  Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service honoring Marcia on Tuesday, May 16th at 11:00 a.m. which will be celebrated in Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2759 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.  EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH.  Prayers of committal and interment will follow in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Wheatfield, NY.

11197 Marcia Panepinto, 74, of Lewiston, NY and formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the loving daughter of the late William Charles Kelman and Vera (Fitzgerald) (late Ray) Neville-Kelman.
Marcia attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On June 29, 1978, she married her beloved husband, Stephen “Coach P.” Panepinto at the former Wintergarden. Mr. Panepinto predeceased her on March 16, 2015.
Marcia began her career as a payroll clerk for the City of Niagara Falls, and was also employed by Rado-Mat Holdings for 10 years. She later retired from Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in 2011.
Marcia was an avid bingo player and enjoyed going to the casino, as well as Chinese auctions. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Panepinto is survived by her children, Robin (David) Beahen and Kevin (Deanna) Smith; her step-daughters, Tammy (Jim) Mayes-Olander and Tina Smeal; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her siblings, Kathleen (late James) Milne and William (Paula) Kelman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother John (Sharon) Kelman.

11198 Marcia V. Craft passed away on Saturday April 29, 2023 at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport.  Born in Lockport on August 28, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Murial Bisher Kenyon.  Marcia retired from Reid Petroleum in Lockport.
She is survived by her son Rhett (Jennifer) Craft and granddaughter Jacie Craft.  Marcia was the sister of Roberta Allen and the late Rochelle Warrant.  She is also survived by several Nieces and Nephews.
There will be no prior visitation.  Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

11199 Marcie Ann Redick, age 44 of Cambria, NY, entered into rest on July 11, 2023 at Mercy Hospital, in Buffalo, NY. Daughter of Dennis and Peggy (King) Redick, she was born in Buffalo, NY on May 15, 1979 at the former Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital. Marcie was a 1997 graduate of Starpoint High School, and continued her education at Niagara County Community College, earning her Horticultural Degree in 1999. Marcie enjoyed landscaping design, and working with flowers. She was employed as a File and Data Entry Clerk, at Viola, Cummings and Lindsay Law Office, located on Main Street, Niagara Falls.Survivors include her mother; domestic partner of 13 years, Shawn Pinkham; three children, Zachary Heath, Alexander James Heath, and Sarah Lynn Pinkham; two brothers, Adam and Kenneth Redick. She was preceded in death by her father.Friends are invited to join with her family, for a memorial service on Friday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m., in the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, NY. 11200 Margaret "Peggy" (nee Myers) Boehnke, age 71, of the Town of Wheatfield and formerly of the City of Tonawanda, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, under the care of Niagara Hospice surrounded by her family. A resident of Tonawanda for 35 years, Peggy had been employed by Messmer Dairy in various locations for more than 20 years. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Walter J. Boehnke; two children, Kathleen (the late Gerald) Miano of Cheektowaga and W. Lance (Deborah) Boehnke of Youngstown, NY; two grandchildren, Lauren M. and Scott T. Boehnke; two sisters, Anne (Tom) Biggs of Tonawanda and Sandy Greer of Buffalo; and three brothers, Chuck (Lois) Myers of Tampa, FL, Larry (Joanne) Myers of North Tonawanda and David (Margie) Myers of New Trenton, IN; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
