Born in North Tonawanda, NY on July 12, 1942; she was the daughter of the late Allan and Hilda (DeVantier) Grawe. Martha was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, in Wheatfield. She had been employed at Jenss Department Store, and Tops Market. Martha retired early, so that she could enjoy spending time and watching her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with her family and friends, spending time in her pool and gardening. Martha enjoyed family traditions, especially loved decorating the entire house for the holidays, making pierogies, and cooking her mother's recipe for rice pudding. She was also predeceased by her twin sister Margaret (dec'd Henry) Failing; a brother, Daniel Grawe; and a daughter, Claudette Lemieux.Survivors include two children, Jeanette Prohaska and Glen (Jody) Darlak; five grandchildren, Dalton (Christina) Lemieux, Hunter Lemieux, Lynnea Lemieux, Cole Darlak and Cloe Darlak; one great-grandchild, Archer Lemieux; a sister in law, Fran Grawe; son in law, Marlin Lemieux; and many nephews and nieces. Following high school, she attended Wyoming County Community Hospital School of Nursing in Warsaw, NY, graduating in 1970. Martha worked as an OB/GYN maternity nurse at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, retiring in 2012 after 39 years of service. 11404 | Martha Willett Ferguson, 88 of Newfane, went home to be with the Lord March 25th, 2022 at Elderwood of Lockport. Born June 22, 1933, daughter of Harold and Edna (Lindke) Willett. She worked as a dietician at her alma mater, Roy Hart Schools, and Duke University where she especially enjoyed serving meals at the marine biology lab. Her food service skills were enjoyed most by her family, especially when vegetables from the family garden were prepared or preserved. She was very active in the community serving at Teen Tunnel, Hamilton House, 4-H, church, Newfane School Board, Newfane Library Board, and Kenan Quilters Guild. She followed her life's dream and opened Martha's Cupboard Quilt Shop leading to a 12-year career fueled by her passion for teaching textile design. Married Nov 28th, 1957, to late James Ferguson. She leaves behind her four children, James, Beth, Tod, and Julia, whom she lovingly raised. She was a devoted grandmother to Aaron, Meredith, Sarah, and Nate. The apples of her eye were her great-grands, Rhett, Emma, Tanner and Meritt. Meritt was born only hours after her great-grandmother's passing, a bittersweet day. Also survived by her sister, Joan; and many nieces and nephews; predeceased by her sister, Rita; sisters-in-law, Joan and Jeanne; and brother-in-law, Roger. Mr. Milleville attended St. James Evangelical Lutheran School in Bergholz. He married Elizabeth Haseley on Oct. 10, 1936 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He worked at the former Grief Brothers in Niagara Falls and was a dairy farmer for several ears. Mr. Milleville was a member of St Peter's Lutheran Church in Walmore, where he served as an elder and choir member for 50 years. He also was active with Bible study classes and supported church missions. He enjoyed his family life. In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by a son James Milleville of Plymouth Mich.; three daughters, Susan Dunbar of Aurora, OH, Marilyn Ruppel of Kenmore and Carol Moll of Bergholz; two sisters Thekla DeVantier of Lewiston and Helen Milleville of Wheatfield; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Born on January 22, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Martin and Anna (Bartko) Johnson. On April 28, 1956, Martin married the former Joan M. Targosz at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Mr. Johnson proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and the New York Air National Guard through 1955. Martin was employed by Moore Business Forms for over 45 years, never missing a day of work. His increased responsibilities in the finance department resulted in relocating to various cities throughout the country. He retired from the Glenview, Illinois, US Headquarters, in 1991 as a Corporate Comptroller. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 65 years; four children, Michael, Kathleen, Thomas and Timothy; their spouses; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Josephine Campbell, Gladys Sweeney and Carol Adam; and brothers, John Johnson and Robert "Red" Johnson. Flowers are graciously declined. Martin served his country with great pride. He began his military career with the Air Force, receiving many Decorations, Medals and Ribbons for his dedicated and faithful service. He was the doting father of Adaleigh Latko, his life was devoted to her and participating in her school and extracurricular activities. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting. 11416 | Marvin Harlee Kneeppel, a beloved resident of Ransomville, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Buffalo VA Medical Center after a courageous battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), linked to exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam over 50 years ago. Marvin's family hopes his story inspires others to seek testing and care if experiencing similar symptoms. Born on March 24, 1949, in North Falls, NY, Marvin was the son of the late Lamont Kneeppel and Lois Keir Harms. Following his graduation from high school, Marvin answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served as a Lance Corporal in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970, earning numerous honors including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, and the Rifle Marksman Badge. On February 15, 1969, Marvin married the love of his life, Carolyn Schultz, in St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Ridge, Lockport. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared dreams, settling in Ransomville where they raised their family. Marvin was the proud owner of Kneeppel Flooring, retiring in 2019 after many years of hard work and dedication. In his free time, Marvin cherished the tranquility of the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, and indulged his passion for movies of all genres. Marvin is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Carol Jean; his loving children, Katrena Hart of Allen, TX, and Ira (Kara Kembro) Kneeppel of Milton, FL; his cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Brooks, Grayson, Gabriel, and Griffyn; and his caring brother, Wayne (Barbara) Kneeppel of Gasport, NY. A life-long resident of Niagara Falls, NY, he was the loving son of the late Anthony “Cubby” and Sylvia (Peters) Colucci. Marvin served in the United States Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. On April 18, 1952, he married Nancy V. (Elia) Sisney at St. Joseph’s Church in Niagara Falls. She predeceased him on October 8, 2015 after 63 beautiful years together. Mr. Sisney was employed at Wendt’s Dairy for over 30 years until his retirement. Following his retirement, he continued to stay active by working the Maid of Mist. He was also an avid bowler, winning many tournaments in Niagara Falls and Rochester. Marvin was a fan of the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Tigers and founding member of the “Ground Hoggers Club.” Above all, Marvin enjoyed vacationing with his wife in Florida during the winter months. He will be remembered as an easy going person who enjoyed having a good time with his friends and family. Wendt, 73, of Shenk Road, a Niagara County legislator from 1978 to 1991, died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. He was born on Nov. 23, 1922, in Cambria, the son of William and Grace Wendt. On June 17, 1944, he married the former Ruth O. Belling in St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Marvin W. Wendt North Tonawanda. Born in Cambria, he was self-employed as a well driller and excavator from 1944 to 1989. From 1978 to 1991, Mr. Wendt served as a Niagara County legislator. He was a member of the Western New York and the New York State Volunteer Firemen's Association, and was active in civic affairs. He was a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club. He was very active with the Republican party and was a past Republican committeeman. Wendt, a self-employed well driller and excavator and a Niagara County legislator for 13 years, died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. Wendt, 73, of Shenk Road was born in the Town of Cambria and had been a lifelong resident of Sanborn. He had owned and operated a business as a well driller and excavator from 1944 to 1989. Wendt was a member of the Niagara County Legislature from 1978 to 1991 and was active with the Republican Party, serving as Republican committeeman. He was also active in civic affairs and was a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club. Wendt had also been active in the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company, having served as their past president and past assistant fire chief. He was also the past president of the Niagara County Volunteer Fireman's Association. He was an avid fan, as well as a collector himself, of old steam engines. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, following politics and gardening. She also enjoyed using computers and everyday technology. Above all, Mary's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Mary was a superb cook, cake decorator, seamstress and gardener. Most of all, she was the loving matriarch to her dear family. Anita was a member of many quilting groups in Western and Central NY and routinely made quilts for the Quilts of Valor program and many other charitable causes. She loved living by Cayuga Lake, playing (and bidding at) Pinochle, and spending time with family, friends, and her friends in the Amish community. She was the most loving and caring wife, mother, and friend. She continued her education at Buffalo State Teachers College, receiving her Masters of Science with a major in Arts in 1959. She was employed by the Niagara Falls Board of Education as an Art Teacher beginning in 1961. Mrs. Jamieson loved helping and teaching her students. She retired as Head of the Art Department. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Eberhard) Lauzau and wife of the late Edward Ghougasian. She attended St. Mary of the Cataract Elementary School and Niagara Falls High School. She met her husband Edward when she began working for him as a waitress at the Park Restaurant. They then operated the iconic Club Restaurant and eventually the Greens Restaurant on the Hyde Park Golf Course. Mary Ann was happiest when she was taking care of others and she always made you feel comfortable and welcome whether at home or the restaurant. She will be remembered by her family for her love of animals, her cozy cottage on the lake, the afghans that she crocheted for everyone, love of music (her best friend was the late Hank Hamam) and dancing (she was an instructor at Arthur Murray), and memories of all the laughs and the good times that were shared. Her grandsons were the light of her life. In addition to her husband, Mary Ann is predeceased by her brothers Ronald, Donald and James Lauzau, and sister and brother-in-law Caroline (Ralph) Scozzafava. Sy on November 21, 1959 and he predeceased her in 2002. Mary was Co-Director and teacher of Nursery School at Emmanuel United Methodist Church for over 25 years, retiring in 1999. She was active in area civic organizations including Lockport College Women’s Club, Lockport Junior Service League and St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society. Mary enjoyed reading, playing bridge, travel and time with family. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Thomas E. Sy; son, Timothy (Ann) Sy; grandchildren, Mathew and Heather Sy and siblings, John, Joseph and Nancy Byrne. She was employed at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, was a New York State Emergency Medical Technician, a certified advanced first aid instructor with the American Red Cross, and served as an active member of Tri-Community Ambulance Service Inc., where she became a life time member for all her years of service. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, embroidery and playing the organ and the accordion.Survivors include seven children, William R. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Onofrio and Josephine (Giarrizzo) Ingrasci; and loving wife of the late Thomas DeMunda who she married in 1967. Mary graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1949 and received her Bachelor’s degree from D’Youville College in 1953. The following year, she earned her Master’s degree in Teaching at the University of Albany. Mary was employed as a French Teacher at Gaskill Preparatory School and Niagara Falls High School for many years. Mary loved traveling throughout the United States with her husband and spending the winter months in Florida. She was an excellent cook and baker, and enjoyed playing cards. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. DeMunda is survived by her daughters, Josie DeMunda and Angela (Joseph) Martin; six grandchildren, Olivia, Jason, and Adriana Martin, Jocelyn, Ava, and Anthony Mercurio, as well as several nieces and nephews. (Nickerson) Buttery, on May 11, 1933. She attended school in Youngstown and was one of the first to walk across the stage at Lewiston Porter High School when she graduated in 1952. She married the late Lee W. Furnace on May 16, 1964. She worked as a meat wrapper at Acme Markets in Niagara Falls, ran the Country Kernal Restaurant in Youngstown for several years, and worked as a dietary aide at Old Lady of Peace in Lewiston for several years before retiring in April of 2010. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and rooting for her Josh and the Buffalo Bills.She will be remembered for being our beloved Mama, Nana, and G-Nana, always being there for us, her strength in difficult times, her amazing potato salad and deviled eggs, and her beautiful blue eyes.Mary is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Lee Rohring (Kevin Kennedy) of Appleton and Pamela Mary Levering of Newfane. She was born in Niagara Falls on February 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Nelson and Effie (McNarin) Brontmire. Mrs. Workman was a homemaker who devoted herself to caring for her family. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, camping and bowling. She was a member of the VFW Post 54. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Biagio and Liboria (Barone) Ferrara. Mary was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. She attended local schools and graduated with honors from Niagara Falls High School in 1937. On April 19, 1941, she married Nicholas J. Vilardo at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Vilardo predeceased her on June 19, 1988. Mary was employed at several local companies which included, the former Niagara Searchlight Company, Beir’s Brothers, DiCamillo Bakery and retired from Niagara Mohawk. Mary was a devout Catholic and member of the Anime Sante Del Purgatorio Society of St. Joseph’s Church as well as the Ladies Cristoforo Colombo Society. Above all, Mary will be remembered as a loving and generous mother and grandmother. Mrs. Vilardo is survived by her two sons, Nicholas S.J. (Barbara) Vilardo and Ronald B.
