Jeffery, age 86, of Ransomville, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at his home, under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice. William was born February 7, 1926 in Ransomville, the son of the late Clarence and Mabel (Gillis) Jeffery and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1944 graduate of Wilson High School and worked at his father's family business, Purina Feed Store, in Ransomville. After the business was sold, William then became Manager of the Youngstown Cold Storage for many years, until his retirement. He enjoyed stock car racing every Friday night at Ransomville Speedway, as well as NASCAR. He was also an avid fan of the Buffalo Sabres. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Gately) (Geltz) Jeffery, whom he married October 11, 1969; his children, Sidney (Carol) Jeffery, Janis Faery, Suzi (Don) McGinnis and Tim (Patty) Jeffery; his stepchildren, Becky (Dave) Shed, Rick (Chris), Mike (Grant) and John (Roxanne) Geltz; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial in North Ridge Cemetery will be private. There will be no prior visitation. Goodman, age 93, of Ransomville, previously of Sanborn, died peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2014 surrounded by her children while under the care of Hospice of the Valley, in Mesa, AZ, where she resides six months every year. Marie was born on December 2, 1920 in Ransomville, the daughter of the late Fred and Grace (Magorien) Faery and was a graduate of Wilson High School and Doyles School of Beauty. She was a Beautician for 68 years, starting when she was 11 years old. Marie owned and operated Marie Hair Fashion, in Sanborn from 1963 to her retirement in 2000. She had also worked as a clerk in the Emergency Dept. at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for a number of years. On November 2, 1941, she married Gordon Goodman and she assisted him with the operation of his farm as well. Gordon predeceased her in 1979, leaving her to raise her five children. Marie was a communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Ransomville, and a member of the Newfane and Sanborn Senior Citizens. She loved to travel, the country of Austria, Arizona sunshine, and Lake Ontario sunsets and breezes. Marie was a beautiful lady both on the inside and out. Kids loved her, student athletes from Starpoint and Immaculate Heart School in Tucson, AZ. She loved her family, friends, flowers (especially roses) and her rosary. Our beautiful strong mother will be missed by her children, Robert (Sharon) Goodman and Gregory Goodman both of Tucson, AZ, Kathryn M. (Adrian) Frerichs of Wilson, Richard (Annie) Goodman of Pekin, and Sherry (fiance' Doug Wainwright) Goodman of Mesa, AZ. She leaves thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters; a brother, James (Edith) Faery of Wilson; a sister, Therese Melcher of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Diez; a brother, George Faery; and a granddaughter, Deborah Frerichs. 11666 | McCollum, Abram M., was born in Porter, October 29, 1842, a son of Abram Howe and Susanah (Zittle) McCollum. His father was born in Tuscarora Valley in 1820, son of Joseph McCollum, born in Pennsylvania in 1775, and in 1820 came to Porter, settling on a farm where he lived and died in 1853. The maternal grandfather, Conrad Zittle, was born in Germany in 1765, and came to the United States with his mother in 1774, who died in Pennsylvania. Mr. Zittle came to Porter about 1809 or 1810 and settled on the farm at Tourer's Corners by the Four-mile Creek; he sold to Peter Tower and settled at Zittle's Corners about 1816 or 1817, where he lived and died April 11, 1850. Abram M. McCollum was reared on a farm, and educated in the common schools. He is a farmer and owns 120 acres of land and works about 200 acres. In 1869 he married Almyra S. Sanborn, daughter of Israel Sanborn of Orleans county, aud niece of Hon. L. R. Sanborn of Sanborn, Niagara county. Mr. and Mrs. McCollum had seven children Anna W., May (who died at four years of age), Evangeline, Abram D., Israel L., Lulu and Grant. Mr. McCollum is a Republican in politics, and in 1863 enlisted in Co. F, 8th N. Y. Heavy Artillery, serving under Col. Peter A. Porter until the battle of Cold Harbor, Va., June 3, 1864, where he was disabled by a bullet striking the shoulder and lodging in the left side of his head, which caused him to lay on the field unconscious for ten or twelve hours; after coming to he had lost so much blood from the shattered arm, that he was unable to help himself, and as no flag of truce u-as accepted from either side, was left laying on the field for two days, and then taken to Fairfax Seminary, Va., from which he was honorably discharged October 10, 1864. He is a member of Melville C. McCollum Post of Ransomville, N. Y., and its present commander, said post being named in honor of a brother. Mr. McCollum's father was a lifelong Whig and Republican; he was a leader in his town and county and served for a time in the regular army. He enlisted in the volunteers, serving for a time in a light battery, when he received an honorable discharge from the governor of his State, telling him he could do more good recruiting. He spent hundreds of dollars for the benefit of the government during the Civil war for recruiting, and in the Christian and Sanitary Commission for the benefit of wounded soldiers and their families that were left at home. Mr. Rountree, an Orleans County official for several years, lives in Medina. Greetings have been received from President Reagan, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Governor Carey and local officials congratulating Mrs. Olscamp on her 100th birthday. Born Sarah Keighan on March' 9, 1882 at Riveire du Loup, Quebec, she survived a smallpox epidemic that killed her mother and two sisters at age 11. Later her family survived a disastrous fire with only the clothes on their Two Sentenced, Three Guilty in County Court ALBION - Two men have been sentenced in Orleans County Court before Judge Paul I. Miles, court officials have reported. Eugene Roberts, 35, of 123 Starr St., Medina has been sentenced on a conviction to attempted reckless endangerment in the first degree. Roberts, who was represented by attorney Michael Couture, has received a sentence of 60 days in the Orleans County Jail along with a probation term of five years. ' Fritz Kopitski, 17, of Eagle St., Lyndonville, one of four youths involved in the vandalism of the Village of Lyndonville's flag pole, has been sentenced on his conviction to d i s o r d e r l y conduct. Represented by attorney Lance Mark, Kopitski has been ordered to pay a fine of $50 within seven days of sentencing. In other court matters, the re-trial of James V. Latiiigee, Joseph W. Lathigee and Gordon L Montgomery has resulted in a guilty verdict against ail three defendants. The three men were originally found guilty, but the State Court of Appeals, Appellate Division Fourth Department in Rochester, reversed the conviction and granted a new trial. Joseph Lathigee and Montgomery, 23, of Rochester, are also awaiting court action of various weapons charges. Both Lathigees have been released on $5,000. bail and will be sentenced along with Montgomery, who is held in the County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, on April 4. The trial lasted four days with Public Defender John Russelli representing James Lathigee and Montgomery while Joseph Lathigee was represented by attorney Roy King. Brigham was born July 26, 1911 in Gasport, the son of the late Charles and Cora (Otto) Brigham. A resident of the Town of Ridgeway for the past 25 years, Brigham was employed as a truck driver for 14 years by the Middleport Lumber Company until his retirement in 1973. She moved,together with her family, to the Lyndonville area in 1943 where she worked on the family farm and raised her family. She worked for two years during World War II at Bell Aircraft Mrs. Krisher was a member of the Ashwood Wesleyan Church of Lyndonville where she taught Sunday School at one time and was a member of the Missionary Society of the church. She was at one time a member of the Farm Bureau.She enjoyed embroidery and needle work and gardening. A favorite pastime was traveling. 11693 | Medina NY Daily Register - 10/29/1984 Mrs. Gladys W. Breitsman, 87, of South Ave., died suddenly Sunday morning at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born in Medina. Feb. 15, 1897, to Samuel J. and Elizabeth (Hannan) Wilson, and lived here all of her life. She had been employed by Branson's Dry Goods, and later Crowley's Dry Goods for 40 years prior to retirement in 1978. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Auxiliary of Lincoln Post No. 1483 V.F.W. Her husband, Willis J. Breitsman, died Dec. 16. 1964. Survivors include two sons, Willis J. Breitsman Jr. of Lew is ton, Robert W. Breitsman of Medina; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Franklin of Medina; three grandsons and three granddaughters; five greatgrandchildren; one brother, Reginald D. Wilson of Memphis, Tenn.; a nephew, Robert F. Perry of Canandaigua, and a great-nephew and great-niece. - There will be no visitation. A service will be held at Houseman Funeral Home at the convenience of the family. The Rev. He was born June 7, 1889 in the Town of Royalton, to Ferdinand and Anna (Brege) Eick. He worked for the New York State Highway Department retiring in 1969, and farmed for several years on the Johnson Road. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Middleport. He was husband of Helene Eick, and the late Ida Eick and Myra Eick. He was father of the late Mrs. Hilda Orlando, and brother of the late Hattie Duchow, Loren Eick and Avery Eick. Survivors include his wife; one son, Norman Eick of Virginia; one daughter, Mrs. Janet Dormer of Middleport; two brothers, George Eick of Gasport and Erwin Eick of Middleport; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was bom Aug. 27, 1903 in the Town of Royalton, daughter of the late Paul and Rosa (Hellert) Riemer, and lived most of her life in Wolcottsville. She married Willis A. Tryloff on Nov. K), 1927, who survives her. Mrs. Tryloff was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid Society, and was a charter member of die Wolcottsville Fire Department Auxiliary. Besides her husband, survivors include one son, Edward Tryloff of Gasport; one daughter, Mildred Freh of Scottsville, Ariz.; three brothers, Paul Riemer,of Wolcottsville, Fred Riemer of Saxsonburg, Pa., and the Rev. Elvin Riemer of Mountain Home, Ark.; one sister, Ada Landow of Middleport; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. She and her husband, Edward Buehring, who died in 1974, owned and operated Buehring Grocery Store in Lockport for 53 years until they closed it in 1973. Mrs. Buehring was a member of the Wolcottsville Golden Ager, St Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, the Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Born Nov. 22, 1918 in Alabama, N.Y., his parents were the late Christopher and Cora (Like) Roggow. Mr. Roggow had lived much of his life on Ridge Road in Albion. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany in the European Theater during World War II. He fanned in the Town of Alabama and on Ridge Road (Pafk farm). He also trimmed trees for the Department of Transportation (New York State) and enjoyed hunting.
