LYNDONVILLE - Alfred W.
Bickle, 66, of Lyndonville, died
Monday night at the Arnold Gregory
Memorial Hospital, Albion, after
having been in ill health for the past
three years.
Bom in Lyndonville on March 17,
1922, the son of Roy and Eva (Klino)
Bickle, he had spent his whole
life in Orleans County. Mr. Bickle
had been employed by the Lapp
Express Co. for 27 years prior to his
retirement in 1977.
He was a veteran of World War
II, having served in the 506lh Bomber
Squadron of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret
A. (Stahl) Bickle; a son, Alfred
L. Bickle of Barker; four daughters,
Joan Skernick of Medina, Mario
Bickle of Lyndonville, Pat Jepson of
Middleport, and Mary Lamonte of
Lyndonville; nine grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; a brother,
Leonard Bickle of Dansville; and
several nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
He was pre-deceased by two sisters,
Helen Bujalski in 1987 and
Verdella Bickle in 1988.
Relatives and friends may call at
the Houseman Funeral. Home, 228
Park Ave., Medina, today (2-4, 7-9).
The Rev. Richard Hertzenrater, pastor
of the Ashwood Wesleyan
Methodist Church, will officiate at a
2 p.m. service at the funeral home
on Thursday.
Burial will be in Bates Road

William Michael Snowdon,
34, of 212 Starr St., Medina, died
Monday afternoon in Angola as
the result of a skydiving accident.
Mr. Snowdon was born Feb.
1,1946, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
His parents are William
Snowdon and Beverly
(Weigand) Snowdon. Mr.
Snowdon was a former resident
of Albion, and a graduate of
Albion High School. He had
Uved in Medina for the last
eight years.
He was a veteran of the U.S.
Air Force having served from
1965-1969. He attended the
Presbyterian Church and was a
member of the Frontier
Skydivers Club. Mr. Snowdon
was employed as an inspector
at the Harrison Radiator
Company in Lockport.
He is survived by his wife,
Victoria (Brolinski) Snowdon;
one son, Christopher Joseph;
his mother, Beverly W.
Snowdon of Albion; his father,
William Snowdon of Venice,
Fla.; one sister, Debra
Snowdon Cook of Blue Springs,
Mo.; his mother- and father-inlaw,
Mr. and Mrs. Edward
(Mary Jane) Brolinski of Lockport.

Later Mr. and Mrs. Beers left
for a trip to Florida, and upon
their return will be at home in Me-

Medina celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary
September 9th.
They were honored with a dinner party at the home of
Col (Ret) Stephen and Sophie Skibinski of Grand Island h
Edmund and Helen (Biernacki) Kurdziel were wed in
California September 9th 1944, where Mr. Kurdziel was
stationed in the Army They are life long residents of
Medina.
They have one son Robert (Nancy) Kurdziel and three)
granddaughters.

Helen (Bickle) Bujalski. 73. of
Medina, died -Saturday at the
Medina Memorial Hospital alter a
short illness
Born in Medina on March 31, 1914,
to the late Roy and Eva (Klino)
Bickle, she had spent her whole life
in Orleans County. She had been
employed by area restaurants and
had at one time-operated her own
restaurant on Main Street. Mrs.
Bujalski was a member of the
Medina Turtle Club.
Among the survivors are two
brothers, Allred '(Peggy ) Bickle of
Lyndonville, and Leonard (Marian)
Buckle of Dansville; a sister. Verdella
Bickle- of Dansville. and
several nephews and nieces.
There will be no visitation and
burial' will be in Bates Road
Cemetery'at the convenience of the
family.
Memorials may be made to the
Orleans County Branch of the
American. Cancer Sociely.

following a short illness.
Mrs. Bensley was born April
5,1992 in Ontario, Canada, the
daughter of William J. and
Bridget (Knowland) Redmond.
She had lived most of
her life in Medina and was a
member of St. Mary's Roman
Catholic Church.
Her husband, Gerald H.
Bensley died in December of
1980. They had celebrated their
66th wedding anniversary July
8, 1980.
Mrs. Bensley was mother of
Gerald R. Bensley, Raymond
(Cecelia) Bensley, Robert
(Ann) Bensley and Donald
(Marilyn) Bensley, all of
Medina, Mrs, Phyllis Thompson
of West Seneca, Mrs.
Roger (Rita) Barry and Mrs.

of Medina, Mrs. George
(Lucille) Hotchkiss of Pennsylvania,
and the late Walter
Bensley.

Lydia M. Knuth, 86, of 1108
West Ave., died early this morning
at the Medina Memorial Hosptial
after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 21, 1902 in
Wolcottsville, daughter'of the late
David and Ida Bruning Hellert. She
had lived in the Medina area most of
her life and she was a member of die
Trinity Lutheran Church of Medina
and the Golden Agers of the church.
She was a former member of the
Altar and Service Guilds and sang in
the choir for many years. She was a
member of Twig Association of
Medina Memorial Hospital, having
worked at die reception desk for 20
years. She had been employed at one
time for Newell Shirt Factory in
Medina and had also worked for
several years for J.C. Penney Co. in
Medina.
Her husband, William C. Knudi,

Survivors include one son, Donald
F. (Nancy) Knudi of Fairfax, Va.; a
daughter, Mrs. Charles (Janet) Meier
of Medina; six grandchildren,
Donald Knuth and Susan Knudi,

Meier of Geneseo, Charles J., Sharon
A. and Andrew W. Meier, all of
Medina; one great-grandson, Justin

Mrs. Rosina Lindke, a well known
and highly respected resident of
Medina passed away Saturday at
her home on Park Ave. aged 53
years. She had been in ill health
for several years, for the last two
months being confined to her bed.
Mrs. Lindke had lived nearly her
whole life in and near Medina and
had a wide circle of friends. She is
survived by her husband, four sons
Frank, Fred, John and Walter and
five daughters, Rose, Clara, llda,
Lillian and Lorena all of this place.
The funeral will be held from ber
late home tomorrow at 2 o'clock.
Interment at West Shelby.

He resided at 16 Freeman Ave.,
since 1943 and worked at
Harrison Radiator in Lockport
retiring Feb. 1,1966. He was a
member of Holy Cross
Lutheran Church.
He was husband of the late
Alice (Reabold) Bruning.
Survivors include four sons

absent, and, upon arriving home,
fonnd the body of Mrs. Boorom burned

The bride wore a street length
dress of navy blue georgette and
a corsage of red rose buds.
The maid of honor was dressed

The bride who is Salutatorian
of the Senior Class of the Lyndon-
ville Central School will continue
with her studies while Corporal
Bane, also a graduate of the Lyn-
donville Central School will re-
turn to Avon Park, Florida, where
he is stationed on April 22nd.

Shelby subscriber, last week, contain-
ed the following of Interest to our
readers: "Willis Plant.age five years son
of Walter A. Plant, of Newbury.
England, (formerly of East
Shelby, Orleans County) was standing
near his father, who was running an
oil cake mill, when the child's hand
was caught in the cogs and badly
crushed, The attending physicians
believed they could save his hand and
he seemed to be doing well for about
one week, when It commenced getting
worse. He was taken with lock jaw
and died on the second of March.

afflicted with three fatalities last week,
namely : The funeral of a Mr. Leo at
Barker village on the 16th inst, an
obscure person about 70 years of age,
of whom little is known. Funeral ser
vices over the remains of the late Mrs.
Nellist, of the same place, were observed
on Wednesday, the 17th inst., at
her late home. Deceased was born in
Somerset 54 years ago and was the
daughter of the late Aaron Coleman.
She is survived by her husband,
George M. Nellist; also by two children.

also observed on the same day over the
remains of the late Stephen Atwater in
the M. K. Church at Somerset. Deceased
was born forty-two years ago

Stahl (nee Martha Schlegel) which
took place at her home Friday.
September 10th Mrs. Stahl has
been sick more or less the past

Mrs. Stahl died at the age of 51
years, 9 months and 16 days. The
funeral was held at her home on
Monday, Sep. 13. The Rev. Fred-

11898 Melanie George passed away on May 14, 2019 at the age of 73. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY to Jacob and Martha Wozniak. She graduated from La Salle Senior High School in 1964 and received her Associate of Arts degree from Niagara County Community College in 1967. Later that summer she married John George, also from Niagara Falls, and they moved to Omaha, NE where John attended law school. 

John, Melanie and their young daughters moved to the Bay Area in 1971. Melanie began working for Santa Clara Unified School District in 1978 as an instructional assistant at Kathryn Hughes Elementary School. She later worked at Scott Lane Elementary School in both mainstream and special education classrooms. When her daughters were older, she took a full-time position as the receptionist at the school district office. 

She retired in 2002 in order to spend more time with her grandchildren.

Melanie is survived by her daughters Leslie (Chris) Kloes of Santa Clara and Merrill (Brian) Turner of Capitola; grandchildren Caroline and Vincent Kloes of Santa Clara; sister-in-law Rosemary (David) Gleason of Greensboro, NC and brother-in-law Joseph (Barbara) George of Niagara Falls, NY.

11899 Melinda Hicks Jenkins, age 50, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2017 with her family by her side. Her journey with cancer was an example of strength and courage to all who knew her. Born on July 5, 1967 in Lewiston, New York, Melinda grew up in Bristol, Tennessee. She graduated from Tennessee High School and East Tennessee State University. In addition to her bachelor's degree, Melinda earned her master's degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University and worked as a social worker for the VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Melinda married her husband, Neff Jenkins, on October 17, 1998. They relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in June of 1999. In Jacksonville she continued her career in social work at the Children's Home Society and Baptist Medical Center until her first child was born. Melinda was a devoted wife, a loving and dedicated mother, a skilled cook, and the best friend anyone could have. She was quick with a smile, adventurous, fun loving, thoughtful, and a loyal friend. Melinda had a strong faith in God and lived her faith through her family and friends. She also had a generous spirit for her community, serving through the Junior League of Jacksonville and the Women's Board of Wolfson Children's Hospital.

Melinda is survived by her husband, Neff Jenkins; three children Luke (16), Kelly (14), and Avery (10); her parents Don and Karen Hicks; brothers Christopher Hicks and Jonathan Hicks; and sister Rebecca Whittemore

11900 Melissa Lynn Lorkowski-Venne, 45, of Grand Island, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2022. Born in Lancaster, NY, she was the daughter of Michael Lorkowski and Susan (Walter) (late Gary) Purpora.
Melissa was raised in Lancaster where she graduated from Lancaster High School in 1995. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Education from Buffalo State College. On September 22, 2012 she married her husband, John Venne II at St. Michael’s Church in Buffalo, NY.
Melissa was a longtime elementary school teacher for the Buffalo Public Schools until her illness. Above all, Melissa centered her life around her beloved children who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her husband and parents, Melissa is survived by her two children, Melania and Jaden Venne; her siblings, Melanie (Kevin) Meller and Jessie Lorkowski; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cheryl and John Venne, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 28 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.
