12256 Nadia Condino, 88, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on April 18, 2023, at her residence.  Born in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Decimo and Bruna (Gaddini) Dell’Arsina. At 19, Nadia was sponsored by her uncle in Chicago and emigrated to the United States. She traveled from New York to Chicago to live with her uncle’s family. As required by the U.S., Nadia immediately enrolled in night classes to learn English and found employment with her mother as custom drapery makers. This was fortunate, for at the time, the only word Nadia knew in English was “coffee”, which would then be served to her without cream and sugar.
Through her cousin, Rudy in Chicago, Nadia met Rudy’s friend, Albert Condino, who he brought home to Chicago from Michigan State University for a visit. Becoming enamored, upon his return to the college, Albert corresponded with Nadia until his graduation. On May 28, 1960, Nadia married Albert L. Condino, building a life and family together. After almost 54 years of marriage, Albert (Condino) predeceased her on February 1, 2014.
When her children were older and independent, Nadia decided to use her now excellent multi language abilities and was employed at Grey Line Tours in Niagara Falls, NY as an Italian and English bilingual tour guide. Always one to keep busy, she was an avid golfer, winning many league tournaments. Nadia also enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, sewing, upholstery work, and traveling. Nadia was an avid life-long learner.
Nadia is survived by her children, Dr. Dalinda A. Condino, M.D., Dr. Loretta A. Condino, PhD. (Christopher Grupp), Marisa P. D’ Addario (Joseph) and Dr. Adria A. Condino D.O. 12289 Naomi Cottrell
Our wild and crazy "Omi" known for her humor and inappropriate commentary left us on May 12, 2023, while at Niagara Hospice, no doubt leaving the staff with a few final laughs.
Born to the late John and Verna Weigel, Naomi lived in the Tonawanda's and Fort Pierce, FL (for last 9 years). She leaves behind her brother Harold (Norma) Weigel, while reuniting with her late brother, Jack and beloved dog Toby.
Her loving children, Earl (Sue) Cottrell, Mary Kay (late Patrick) Lee, and Michael (Camille) Cottrell, were often amused (and occasionally embarrassed) by her humor. Her seven grandchildren (Matt (Rachel), PJ (Jennifer), Shaun (Kristin), Andrew (Kristal), Nick (Kate), Judy, and Daneane) and twelve great-grandchildren will miss their adventurous grandma and her notorious "Grandma's Taxi."
She worked as an office manager at Weight Watchers for many years as well as JCPenney. Naomi spent many years as a member of the Niagara Sailing Club.
A committed volunteer, Naomi served at Hospice and as part of Big Sister - Little Sister, and Buffalo Clowns.
Naomi Cottrell, the woman who never missed a chance to make someone smile, has taken her final bow. In her honor, we ask that you share a hearty laugh, give a loved one an unexpected adventure, or say something so wildly inappropriate that it becomes a cherished memory.
