12552 | NF Gazette Warren E. Camann, well know and respected WNY Drum Major, died Saturday July 26, 2003, in the Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a short illness. A life long resident of Bergholz, NY, in the Town of Wheatfield, he was born on October 1, 1923, the son of Edwin J. and Lydia [ Baars ] Camann. He attended local schools and was a graduate of the Trot Vocational High School, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. He served in the United States Army, during World War II, in Ardennes Central Europe, Normandy and Northern France, and was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was employed as a machinist at General Abrasives for 48 years, retiring in 1989, and at Hutchin's Automotive, for 11 years, retiring last year. Warren was an Honorary Member of the Sanborn Fire Company, where he was a member of the Sanborn Band for over 50 years. He began as a member of the trombone section, he served as band manager for many years later becoming Drum Major, serving for 15 years, retiring in 2001. His proudest memories were leading the band in the Fourth of July Parades, in Washington, DC, and Philadelphia, PA., and twice in Canton, OH, for the Football Hall of Fame Parade, which is regarded as the # 3 Parade in the Country. He was a Charter and Life member of the Wheatfield Post #1451 American Legion. He was a member of the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Sanborn. Surviving is his wife of 54 years, the former June Haseley, who he married on October 8, 1949; a brother, Robert Camann, of Waynesboro, VA, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eloise Cindrich. Visitation will be at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, from 7 - 9 PM, Sunday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM, Monday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM, in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, with the Rev. Bruce Gamache officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. 12565 | NF Gazette 1 Jul 1922 MAN HIT BY TRUCK DIED IN HOSPITAL Otto Haseley of Saunders Settlement Road, Victim of Accident Near Home Otto Haseley. 46 years old, of the Saunders' Settlement road, died yesterday afternoon In Memorial hospital from injuries received on Thursday night when he was run over by a motor truck near his home. Mr. Haseley suffered internal injuries. Coroner W. L. Draper, who investigated the accident learned that Mr. Haseley was standing: talking to another man who was in an automobile on the road in front of his home. He walked out around the machine in the path of a motor truck. The driver. J. M. Taylor of Lockport, saw him and tried to avoid striking him but was unsuccessful and the heavy truck passed over Mr. Haseley's body. She was a graduate of the State University of Buffalo, in 1966, and had been working there toward a master's degree in health and physical education. She was a Sunday school teacher at Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, until two years ago. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara-Wheatfield District Education Association and the New York State Teachers Association. In addition to her parents, survivors include two brothers, Gilbert and Harold Kroening; a sister, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hu1da Haseley, and several nieces and nephews. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Rickert, pioneer residents of the old Clarksville section of the city. His father for many years was identified with the hotel business In Niagara Falls conducting the old Park Casino, which stood on the site of the present Gorge Terminal building, and was proprietor of the old United States hotel at the corner of Falls and Second streets and the Richmond House, which was located in Falls street just west of Main street. In his youth Mr. Rickert won recognition as a bicycle rider along the Niagara frontier. Besides City Clerk Rickert, he is survived by two other brothers, Carl and Fred, both of this city, and his wife, Mrs. Anna Rickert, of Miami.
