Mrs. Bertha Wienke
SANBORN-Mrs. Bertha A. Wienke, 83, of 2652 Saunders Settlement Road; died unexpectedly at her home Monday (Jun.12, 1967) after suffering a heart attack. She had been in ill health for the last year.
Born in the Town of Lewiston March 20, 1884, she was the daughter of August and Auguste Hellert Haseley. She had been a resident at the Saunders Settlement address for the last 56 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Walmore.
Survivors include her husband, Adolph; two sons, Walter A. and Clarence E. Wienke, both of Sanborn; a daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Hilda) Ferchen, Niagara Falls, and a brother, Edward Hasley (sic) Niagara Falls; also five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Service's will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday a St. Peter's Church. The Rev. Alfred W. Walck officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

Hospital. Buffalo, at the age of 90.
A native of London, England,
Mrs. Smith moved to this city in
1926, shortly after the death of
her husband, John L Smith. She
moved to Buffalo in 19M to live
with her daughter, Mrs. Hazel
Schwinn, and lived in that city
until her death.
In addition to Mrs. Schwinn,
Smith is survived by two

city; six grandchildren, 11 great

Mrs. Maria Gabrielli of 2749 Forest Ave., known to
hundreds of kids of another generation as "Non," is
dead.
She died today (Feb. 5, 1962) at the home of two ,
of her daughters where she had been living with her
memories since retiring from her grocery store business.

She would have celebrated
her 95th birthday anniversary
on Feb. 14.
In addition to four sons and
five daughters, Mrs. Gabrielli
is survived by 45 grandchildren,
92 greatgrandchildren
and 6 great-greatgrandchildren.
Mrs. Gabrielli, a resident
here 50 years, opened her
first grocery store in Italy at
the age of 18 and for many
years operated a store at.2712
10th St. here.
Known at "Non"
To hundreds of children in
that area she was known as
"Non" a contraction of nona,
Italian term for grandmother.
Even the kids of Irish
descent who patronized her
store used the knickname,
pronounced "nawn.". They
thought It was her name when
they heard Mrs. Gabrielli's
grandchildren using it.
Born in Italy, she early
showed a flair for business
and opened a store in Villa
St. Stefano; near Rome, at the
age of 18, shortly after she
married her first husband,
Vincent Leo. Several years
after his death she married
Mr. Gabrielli and the family
eventually came to this country.
Mrs. Gabrielli was soon in
business here and for a time
ran two grocery stores, the
second one at 13th Street and
Center Avenue..
Retired at 87
She gave up business at the
age of 87, after breaking her
hip in a fall. At 90 she underwent
surgery.
Mrs. Gabrielli is survived
by sons Charles, Joseph and
Ernest Leo and William Gabrielli,
and five daughters, Mrs.
Josephine Baldassaro, Mrs.
Arthur ' Marcucci, Mrs. Guy
Cutonilli, Mrs. Gabriela Bove
and Mrs. Angelo Augustino,
all of this city. Several nieces
and nephews also survive.
One of her sons, Joseph Leo,
served In World War I and
another, William Gabrielli,
served in World War II. Fourteen
of her grandsons also
served in World War II.
She lived with Mrs. Bove
arid Mrs. Augustino.
Servicces will be held Wednesday
at 9:15 a.m. at the
Magaddino Memorial Chapel
and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of
Mt. Carmcl Church.

Franklin Pletcher, of this city, died at
3 o'clock yesterday afternoon In Rochester.
The funeral will be held from
the Cornell and Daggett funeral chapel,

Mrs. Pletcher was born In the old
Wltmer homestead on the Lockport
road, four miles east of this city. She
was the daughter of Joseph and. Catherine
Wltmer, pioneer residents of Niagara
county. She had lived In Niagara
county for over 60 years and was well
known and highly respected. She was
most active In the affairs of the Church
of Christ, Niagara avenue and Tenth
street, and was also an ardent member
of the Willard W. C. T. U. She was
honored a few years ago by being made
a life member of the national W. C. T.
U.
For the past ten years years. Pletcher
has ben living with hef daughter and
family In Rochester. Her death follow-
ed a lingering Illness of four years,
which she bore with great patience and
Christian fortitude. She is survived by
her daughter, Mrs. Charles Eshelman,
of Rochester; a slater, Mrs. A. R, Laur,
of this city; and four grandchildren,

She was admitted, to the hospital Thursday but had been ill three weeks. A native of Bergholtz, she lived in Niagara Falls most of her life.

Myron L. Mueller, age 73, of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior, on Monday, April 6, 2009 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY on January 1, 1936 to the late Edward and Edna (DeVantier) Mueller. He was a lifelong member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he held various positions over the years and enjoyed singing in the choir. Myron served in the National Guard and retired as a carpenter superintendent with Scrufari Construction Company, was a 50 year member of the Buffalo Carpenters Union and was project manager, working on the Wheatfield recreation and water department buildings and was very proud of his accomplishments. Myron enjoyed bowling at the Manor II Lanes on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons, played bingo, traveled many places along the coast - Maine to the Carolina's, visiting lighthouses, faithfully kept a weather journal and had an A-frame at Rushford Lake, where his family vacationed during the summer months. Hobbies included woodworking, gardening, painting, puzzles, fishing and golfing. Myron especially enjoyed being with his family and watching his grandchildren play baseball, and would have an Easter Egg hunt at his house for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with pizza for lunch.Survivors include his beloved wife, Marlene (Goater) Mueller. There were united in marriage on June 14, 1958; four children, Kyle (Larry) Hall, Karen (Gary) Pfohl, Kim (Bill) Szelazkiewicz and Mike (Cindy) Mueller; grandchildren, Darryl and Michelle Hall, Kelly and Dave Patterson, Billy Szelazkiewicz, Mikie Szelazkiewicz, Alex Mueller, Michael Mueller and Jillian Mueller; great-grandchildren, Erica, Andrew and Kyle V. NEWFANE — Bertha May Roberts, age 91, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Bertha was born May 22, 1919 in the Town of Lewiston, the daughter of the late Charles and Carrie (Hillman) Ortt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell K. Roberts; a son, Keith Earl Roberts; and three brothers, Ronald Ortt, Donald Ortt and James Ortt.

She worked various occupations in Niagara County during her life. During WWII, she worked as an airplane assembler at Bell Aircraft, Niagara Falls, NY. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church of Pekin, NY and attended other Methodist churches in the area when Pekin closed.

Bertha is survived by her son, Dr. Kenneth Roberts (wife, Virginia) of Fayetteville, GA; two granddaughters, Cheryl A. Porter (husband, Fred), Newnan, GA, Christina L. NEWFANE-Earl A. Wilkins, 45, of 6318 Charlotteville
Road, died today (June 17,1966) in Lockport
Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for
the last four days.
He was born Dec. 1, in
Newfane, the son of John and
Gertrude Bundrock Wilkins,
and had been a resident here
all his life. He was a veteran
of World War II.
Mr. Wilkins was employed
as a machine operator at the
Lockport Felt Co. here. He
was an active member of
Miller Hose fire - company
and a member of St. John's
Lutheran Church, Burt.
He married the former
Ruth Brier on June 3, 1948.
Survivors i n c l u d e his,
widow; two sons, Richard
and Clifford, and a daughter,
Mary Carol Wilkins, all at

65, co-owner of the Niagara
Implement Co., Lockport-Olcott
Road, died today (Sept. 3, 1967)(sic)
in Mount View Hospital, Lockport,
where he had been taken
Monday. He had been in ill
health, for some time.
Born July 31, 1902, at Rome,
N.Y., he was a son of Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Weir. He came
to Newfane 15 years -ago from
Wolcottsville.
He was a member of .the
Wolcottsville Exempt Firemen
and was a past fire chief.
Survivors include his wife,
. Irene; two sons. Howard, of
Newfane and Donald of Rochester;
a daughter, Mrs. Carl
(Mary Ann) Dunlap of Niagara
Falls and nine grandchildren.

suddenly Friday (July 20,
1962) at Inter-Community
Memorial Hospital.
He was a farmer for the
last 28 years. Prior to that he
was employed at the Palmer
Lumber Co., Tonawanda. For
several years Mr. Rutland
was a member of Newfane
Lodge No. 392, IOOF and the
Farm Bureau and was a onetime
chairman of the Board
of Elections in Wilson.

NIAGARA FALLS — Carl E. McGee, Sr., 80, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Niagara Hospice. Carl was born on September 27, 1930 in Detroit, MI. He was the son of the late Jesse U. McGee, Sr. and Josephine McGee. He graduated from LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School in 1949. Carl married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Anne (Dobie) McGee on November 10, 1951 at the First Christian Church in Niagara Falls, NY.

Carl worked for Carborundum for five years, Airco Speer for 23 years and for Niagara County, where he operated the print shop, until he retired in 1996. He also ran his own printing business for over 55 years.

He was a member of Niagara River Lodge #785 F&AM who honored him with the Dedicated Service Award in May of this year. He was also a member of Niagara Chapter 200 Royal Arch Masons and was the present Commander of Niagara Commandery #64. Carl and his wife were also active members of Flager Chapter #355 OES, where he had been Patron 13 times and was a past Grand Officer for the State of NY. Carl belonged to Lockport Court #145, Order of the Amaranth and was Past Grand Royal Patron in 1999-2000 for the State of NY. He was also a longtime member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Carl is survived by three children: son, James (Dawn) McGee, Sr.; daughter, Melodie (McGee) Stein; and son, Robert (Carole) McGee. He was predeceased by his son, Carl E. McGee, Jr., who died in 1978 while serving in the US Air Force in Korea.

Carl was the proud grandfather of Heather McGee, Chrystal Cloud, Faith Dyal, James McGee, Jr., Caitlin McGee, Jon McGee, Kevin McGee, Jennifer McGee and Robert McGee. Carl was also proud to be grandpa to 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Jesse U. McGee, Jr.; his brother-in-law, Alfred Hewitt; and his daughter-in-law, Charlotte McGee; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Welford McGee and sister, Lola Hewitt.

There will be no prior visitation as Mr. McGee's body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Buffalo.

Niagara River Lodge #785 will hold a Masonic Service at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 2, 2011 that will be followed at 2:30 PM by a Celebration of Life Service at the United Baptist Christian Church, 4800 Creek Rd., Lewiston, NY, with the Rev. Bette Bond officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094, or to United Baptist-Christian Church, 4800 Creek Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092.

NIAGARA FALLS — Dennis C. Harris, 46, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on May 30, 1964, he was the son of Mildred (Budde) Harris and the late William S. Harris, Sr. and attended local schools. Dennis was an avid Dallas Cowboys' fan, hunter and loved the outdoors.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Tina (Rice) Harris of Pennsylvania; son, Thomas Davis of Pennsylvania; daughter, Lisa Harris of Pennsylvania; his brothers, William S. Harris, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY, Robert (Erin) Harris of Warsaw, NC, Donald Harris of Niagara Falls, NY; sisters, Pamela (Jerry) Fuller, Tammy (Carl) Zaker, both of Niagara Falls, NY; his grandmother, Dorothy Blacklock; his close friend, Tina Marsh of Niagara Falls, NY; also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and two great-nephews. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his great-grandmother, Mildred Budde.

NIAGARA FALLS — Eleanor May (Allen) Call, age 93, of Niagara Falls, formerly of Pekin, was called to her eternal home to be with her Lord on August 28, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Nicknamed "Nonny", she was born August 13, 1917, in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Harry and Anna (nee Hanson) Allen. She grew up in a loving Christian family with two sisters and two brothers, attending the First Baptist Church on Main and Fourth Streets. She was united in marriage to Gordon Call on September 27, 1935. He was called to his eternal home in January 1977. Eleanor and Gordy were active with the LaSalle Yacht Club, Squadronettes, the Thespian Club at Pierce Avenue Presbyterian Church and later at Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, where they enjoyed playing in the hand bell choir. Eleanor remained active for many years at Bacon Memorial, in the Pairs 'n Spares Club and the Evershed Ladies League. She volunteered with the Sunday School, was on the Christian Education Committee, Board of Deacons, sang in the choir and church secretary for several years. Eleanor loved gardening and working at her nephew's greenhouse - Sanborn Greenhouses. She loved reading and was a literacy volunteer.

Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy (late William) Goater, Ethel (late William) Owler and one brother, George (late Dorothy) Allen; five nieces and seven nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Warren (wife Shirley) Allen and Ralph Allen.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert W. Peck on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, 166-59th Street, Niagara Falls. Interment will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park. NIAGARA FALLS — Estelle (Walasek) Hriczak, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 23, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Casimer and Caroline (Rusek) Walasek and attended local schools.

Estelle was a member of Divine Mercy Parish (St. Stanislaus Kostka); she worked at St. Mary's Manor for 32 years retiring in January of 2001. She was very proud of her Polish heritage enjoyed Polish Food and her garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grand daughter and family.

She is survived by her children, Stanley Carl (Teresa) Hriczak of Niagara Falls, NY, David (Mary Frances) Hriczak of Arizona, and Barbara (Nicholas) Vilardo of Niagara Falls, NY; beloved old grandma of Michael, Maria Vilardo, Carl, David and Alexis Hriczak, great-granddaughter, Miranda Vilardo; her sisters, Martha Bulinski, Bernadette Lachoski and Theresa Zielinski; beloved aunt, Stasia of many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Hriczak, Jr.; brothers, William and Henry Walasek; sisters, Sophie Bozek, Katherine Apen, Clara Zankowski, Cecilia Wisz and Renee Dunaj.

NIAGARA FALLS — Florence K. Donato of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. Born in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (DeFazio) Donato.

Florence moved to the Niagara Falls area as a child with her family and attended local schools. During World War II she was employed at Bell Aircraft in Wheatfield, NY. She later worked at the former Nabisco Shredded Wheat Co. and Kimberly Clark Corp. until the plants closing. Florence went on to become a civilian office clerk at the U.S. Air Force Recruiting office on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls until her retirement. While there, she was awarded an honorary recruiter certificate for being directly responsible for operating the office as well as the enlistment of numerous men and women to the Air Force. In 1970, Florence was also recognized for her heroism when she alerted the tenants of fatal fire that claimed two lives and nearly destroyed the landmark Sagamore Apartments in Niagara Falls. Her quick response to discovering smoke in the hallway and waking the tenants was credited for preventing a much more disastrous result. Florence was formerly involved in local politics for the Democratic Party and their campaigns. In her leisure time she also enjoyed Bingo and going to the Casino.

Florence is survived by one sister, Josephine (late Thomas) Tedesco of Niagara Falls, NY and was the beloved aunt to Penny (Mark) Adams, Ronald Appoloney, Thomas (Kathy) Tedesco, Frank (Jane) Donato, Rickie (Debbie) Donato, Richard (Joanne) Donato, William (Loraine) Corsaro, Jean Battilini and Sandra Barbaro. She is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-great-nieces, great-great-great-nephews and cousins. Florence was also predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, Mary (late Angelo) Trapasso, Angeline (late John) Corsaro, Anthony (late Lillian) Donato, Lena (late Frank) Appoloney and Frank (late Mary Lou) Donato.

Visitation will be on Thursday November 4th from 9 - 11:15 AM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where funeral services will begin at 11:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
