She died today (Feb. 5, 1962) at the home of two , of her daughters where she had been living with her memories since retiring from her grocery store business. several years ago. She would have celebrated her 95th birthday anniversary on Feb. 14. In addition to four sons and five daughters, Mrs. Gabrielli is survived by 45 grandchildren, 92 greatgrandchildren and 6 great-greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Gabrielli, a resident here 50 years, opened her first grocery store in Italy at the age of 18 and for many years operated a store at.2712 10th St. here. Known at "Non" To hundreds of children in that area she was known as "Non" a contraction of nona, Italian term for grandmother. Even the kids of Irish descent who patronized her store used the knickname, pronounced "nawn.". They thought It was her name when they heard Mrs. Gabrielli's grandchildren using it. Born in Italy, she early showed a flair for business and opened a store in Villa St. Stefano; near Rome, at the age of 18, shortly after she married her first husband, Vincent Leo. Several years after his death she married Mr. Gabrielli and the family eventually came to this country. Mrs. Gabrielli was soon in business here and for a time ran two grocery stores, the second one at 13th Street and Center Avenue.. Retired at 87 She gave up business at the age of 87, after breaking her hip in a fall. At 90 she underwent surgery. Mrs. Gabrielli is survived by sons Charles, Joseph and Ernest Leo and William Gabrielli, and five daughters, Mrs. Josephine Baldassaro, Mrs. Arthur ' Marcucci, Mrs. Guy Cutonilli, Mrs. Gabriela Bove and Mrs. Angelo Augustino, all of this city. Several nieces and nephews also survive. One of her sons, Joseph Leo, served In World War I and another, William Gabrielli, served in World War II. 13287 | Niagara Gazette Myron L. Mueller, age 73, of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior, on Monday, April 6, 2009 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY on January 1, 1936 to the late Edward and Edna (DeVantier) Mueller. He was a lifelong member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he held various positions over the years and enjoyed singing in the choir. Myron served in the National Guard and retired as a carpenter superintendent with Scrufari Construction Company, was a 50 year member of the Buffalo Carpenters Union and was project manager, working on the Wheatfield recreation and water department buildings and was very proud of his accomplishments. Myron enjoyed bowling at the Manor II Lanes on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons, played bingo, traveled many places along the coast - Maine to the Carolina's, visiting lighthouses, faithfully kept a weather journal and had an A-frame at Rushford Lake, where his family vacationed during the summer months. Hobbies included woodworking, gardening, painting, puzzles, fishing and golfing. Myron especially enjoyed being with his family and watching his grandchildren play baseball, and would have an Easter Egg hunt at his house for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with pizza for lunch.Survivors include his beloved wife, Marlene (Goater) Mueller. 13295 | Niagara Gazette NEWFANE-Robert J. Rutland. 82, of Lake Road, died suddenly Friday (July 20, 1962) at Inter-Community Memorial Hospital. He was a farmer for the last 28 years. Prior to that he was employed at the Palmer Lumber Co., Tonawanda. For several years Mr. Rutland was a member of Newfane Lodge No. 392, IOOF and the Farm Bureau and was a onetime chairman of the Board of Elections in Wilson. Survivors include his widow J. Hazel Rutland, four daughters, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Lawrence, Snyder; Mrs. Arthur (Eugenia) Albright, Newfane; Mrs. Edwin (Claire) Ponthier, East Aurora; and Mrs. Joseph (Louise) Ponthier, Orchard Park; two sons Clifton J. Rutland, Buffalo, and Richard L. Rutland, Olcott; and two step-sons, Samuel McCoy, Wilson, and Clifford McCoy. Olcott. Also 25 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. The Odd Fellows will hold a memorial .service at the Corwin Funeral Home at 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. 13296 | Niagara Gazette NIAGARA FALLS — Carl E. McGee, Sr., 80, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Niagara Hospice. Carl was born on September 27, 1930 in Detroit, MI. He was the son of the late Jesse U. McGee, Sr. and Josephine McGee. He graduated from LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School in 1949. Carl married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Anne (Dobie) McGee on November 10, 1951 at the First Christian Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Carl worked for Carborundum for five years, Airco Speer for 23 years and for Niagara County, where he operated the print shop, until he retired in 1996. He also ran his own printing business for over 55 years. He was a member of Niagara River Lodge #785 F&AM who honored him with the Dedicated Service Award in May of this year. He was also a member of Niagara Chapter 200 Royal Arch Masons and was the present Commander of Niagara Commandery #64. Carl and his wife were also active members of Flager Chapter #355 OES, where he had been Patron 13 times and was a past Grand Officer for the State of NY. Carl belonged to Lockport Court #145, Order of the Amaranth and was Past Grand Royal Patron in 1999-2000 for the State of NY. He was also a longtime member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Carl is survived by three children: son, James (Dawn) McGee, Sr.; daughter, Melodie (McGee) Stein; and son, Robert (Carole) McGee. He was predeceased by his son, Carl E. McGee, Jr., who died in 1978 while serving in the US Air Force in Korea. Carl was the proud grandfather of Heather McGee, Chrystal Cloud, Faith Dyal, James McGee, Jr., Caitlin McGee, Jon McGee, Kevin McGee, Jennifer McGee and Robert McGee. Carl was also proud to be grandpa to 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Jesse U. McGee, Jr.; his brother-in-law, Alfred Hewitt; and his daughter-in-law, Charlotte McGee; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Welford McGee and sister, Lola Hewitt. There will be no prior visitation as Mr. McGee's body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Buffalo. Niagara River Lodge #785 will hold a Masonic Service at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 2, 2011 that will be followed at 2:30 PM by a Celebration of Life Service at the United Baptist Christian Church, 4800 Creek Rd., Lewiston, NY, with the Rev. Dennis was an avid Dallas Cowboys' fan, hunter and loved the outdoors. 13298 | Niagara Gazette NIAGARA FALLS — Eleanor May (Allen) Call, age 93, of Niagara Falls, formerly of Pekin, was called to her eternal home to be with her Lord on August 28, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Nicknamed "Nonny", she was born August 13, 1917, in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Harry and Anna (nee Hanson) Allen. She grew up in a loving Christian family with two sisters and two brothers, attending the First Baptist Church on Main and Fourth Streets. She was united in marriage to Gordon Call on September 27, 1935. He was called to his eternal home in January 1977. Eleanor and Gordy were active with the LaSalle Yacht Club, Squadronettes, the Thespian Club at Pierce Avenue Presbyterian Church and later at Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, where they enjoyed playing in the hand bell choir. Eleanor remained active for many years at Bacon Memorial, in the Pairs 'n Spares Club and the Evershed Ladies League. She volunteered with the Sunday School, was on the Christian Education Committee, Board of Deacons, sang in the choir and church secretary for several years. Eleanor loved gardening and working at her nephew's greenhouse - Sanborn Greenhouses. She loved reading and was a literacy volunteer. Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy (late William) Goater, Ethel (late William) Owler and one brother, George (late Dorothy) Allen; five nieces and seven nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Warren (wife Shirley) Allen and Ralph Allen. She was very proud of her Polish heritage enjoyed Polish Food and her garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grand daughter and family. 13300 | Niagara Gazette NIAGARA FALLS — Florence K. Donato of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. Born in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (DeFazio) Donato. Florence moved to the Niagara Falls area as a child with her family and attended local schools. During World War II she was employed at Bell Aircraft in Wheatfield, NY. She later worked at the former Nabisco Shredded Wheat Co. and Kimberly Clark Corp. until the plants closing. Florence went on to become a civilian office clerk at the U.S. Air Force Recruiting office on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls until her retirement. While there, she was awarded an honorary recruiter certificate for being directly responsible for operating the office as well as the enlistment of numerous men and women to the Air Force. In 1970, Florence was also recognized for her heroism when she alerted the tenants of fatal fire that claimed two lives and nearly destroyed the landmark Sagamore Apartments in Niagara Falls. Her quick response to discovering smoke in the hallway and waking the tenants was credited for preventing a much more disastrous result. Florence was formerly involved in local politics for the Democratic Party and their campaigns. In her leisure time she also enjoyed Bingo and going to the Casino. Florence is survived by one sister, Josephine (late Thomas) Tedesco of Niagara Falls, NY and was the beloved aunt to Penny (Mark) Adams, Ronald Appoloney, Thomas (Kathy) Tedesco, Frank (Jane) Donato, Rickie (Debbie) Donato, Richard (Joanne) Donato, William (Loraine) Corsaro, Jean Battilini and Sandra Barbaro. She is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-great-nieces, great-great-great-nephews and cousins. Florence was also predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, Mary (late Angelo) Trapasso, Angeline (late John) Corsaro, Anthony (late Lillian) Donato, Lena (late Frank) Appoloney and Frank (late Mary Lou) Donato.
