Mr. Miller was born in Lewiston, New York, on May 3, 1933, to Francis Eugene and Arline Miller. Mr. Miller retired from AT&T in Western New York in 1986 after 32 years of service. Mr. Miller was a member of the American Legion Post 189 in Sebastian and Telephone Pioneers of Western New York. Mr. Miller served in the United States Army in the Korean War. Survivors are Mr. Miller's wife, Sharon; children, Michael Miller of Rochester, New York, Linda Suatoni (and Robert) of Brockport, New York, Kristen Kenney (and J. Mrs. Pfohl was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn and the Wheatfield Senior Citizens. Her husband, Henry J. Pfohl, died in 1973. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Witt of Wheatfield; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Dianne Kacala. She was the sister of the late Herbert Warblow, Norman Warblow, Gertrude Karre, Margaret Pfohl and Mildred Eddy. During World War II she worked on the assembly line at Bell Aerospace and retired in 1982 after 26 years in housekeeping for Palumbo Real Estate, Jennie was a member of Holy Trinity RC Church, served as Eucharistic Minister, Bingo worker, Ad Astra Polish Women's Alliance and former member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Portage Post #1465, Holy Trinity and Bishop Duffy Mothers Club and St. Stan's Craft Group. She enjoyed bowling and craft work. She is survived by sons, Robert J, (Florence) Krul of Olney, MD, Ronald J. Krul of Tonawanda, NY, and daughter, Dolores (late Robert) Werth of the Town of Niagara. "Jack" Hartman, 74, Council Street, died Wednesday (Sept. 22, 1999) at home while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Mr. Hartman was born July 24, 1925, in Niagara Falls, the son Fredrick and Beatrice (Pollard) Hartman: He was a graduate LaSalle Senior High School. He served the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific theatre, from 1943 to 1946. He received the America Defense Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal (eight bronze stars), the Philippine Liberation Medal (two bronze stars) and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a lifelong resident Niagara Falls. He married Pauline "Polly" Meraw on June 21, 1947. He was employed by the New York Telephone Company, retiring as an outside plant engineer in 1985 after 37 years of service. Mr. Hartman was a member Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the LaSalle Lions Club where he served as president, zone chairman and deputy district governor of District 20N Lions International and the Niagara Falls Lions Club for 43 years. He was an active member and past president of the Retired Men's Service Club Chorus. He was a past member and president of the Niagara Falls chapter S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., barber shop singing. He was a member of American Legion Post 1451; past president and member of the Oppenheim Zoological Society and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Hartman had a lifelong interest in hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and motorcycling. Family members say he was a true sportsman who enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with people. His other interests included carpentry and woodworking. He built three homes, furniture, decorative items, playhouses for his granddaughters and suspended lookout forts for his grandsons. He played on numerous fast-pitch softball teams and several hockey teams. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Susan 1. Ciesielski and Nancy E. Rosie, both of North Tonawanda; two sisters, Marylou Jones of' Niagara Falls and Lorraine, Lipp of Kenmore; two brothers, Elroy "Mort" of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Paul Hartman of Niagara Falls; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Fredrick Hartman. Mr. Hartman's body has been donated to the State University at Buffalo Medical School; his eyes were donated to the Buffalo Eye Bank & Research Society. The Rev. Louis was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Schendel, age 84 of Ridge Rd. was called to her heavenly home on Sunday June 12, 2005 in the Lockport Memorial Hospital, under Hospice Care, after a long illness. Marion was born May 12, 1921 in the Town of Lewiston, NY, the daughter of the late Herman and Helena (Jacobs) Lindhurst. She graduated from Lewiston High School and Kelly's Business Institute and worked as a secretary for LAUR and MACK Construction Co. in Niagara Falls for several years. Marion married Robert G. Schendel on October 30, 1943 and joined him in the operation of the family farm. She sold produce at the North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls Markets for many years. Marion was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge. She served her Lord as a Sunday School Teacher, church secretary, as president of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and as a choir member. She was also a member of the Sanborn Friendship Club. Her Church, family and friends were most important in her life. Marion was predeceased by her husband Robert on June 13, 1983 and a brother, Arnold (Velma) Lindhurst. Together they owned and operated Hurtgam Farms in the Town of Cambria for many years, taking their eggs and produce to the North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls City Markets. Mr. Hurtgam passed away on September 9, 1991. Mrs. Hurtgam was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge and very active in its' Ladies Aid Society for which she had served as Secretary and Treasurer. She was a member of the Newfane Golden Agers and the Sanborn Friendship Club. She enjoyed sending and receiving greeting cards. She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Brenda) Hurtgam of Ransomville, and Charles (Maggie) Hurtgam of Greene, NY; a sister, Eleanor Eckert and a brother, Carlton (Eleanor) Schultz both of Newfane; her grandchildren, Jeff (Harmony) Hurtgam, Jay (Cassandra) Hurtgam, Jodie Hurtgam, Robert (Nicole) Lewis, and Richard (Penny) Lewis; her great grandchildren, Melissa, Randy, Chris, and Jordan Lewis; her sisters-in-law, Jenny, Alvera, Martha, and Donna Schultz. Howe's plea of guilty to a charge of first degree manslaughter was accepted Tuesday by Justice Ann T. Mikoll of State Supreme Court. She set sentencing for Jan. 30. Howe had been charged originally with murder in the death of Siegmund Mackensen, 65, also of North Tonawanda. When questioned by Justice Mikoll, Howe said Mackensen grabbed him as he was going through automobiles looking for "small items like tape players".Howe said he threw Mackensen to the ground and kicked him repeatedly in the head. Mrs. Lindhurst was born in Ransomville on July 7, 1907, to William and Louise (Schultz) Borget. She was the wife of the late Arnold H. Lindhurst, who died in 1988. Mrs. Lindhurst had lived in Lewiston for 60 years before moving to Sanborn two years ago. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cambria. Mrs. Lindhurst loved sewing and embroidery. Surviving is a daughter, Norma Human of Sanborn; a brother, Wilfred Borget of Lockport; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Lilly Rohring. The body was discovered by his son, Melvin Zuch, who lives nearby in Niagara Street. Mr. Zuch had been alone at home during the one-day hospitalization of his wife, Florence, in Buffalo. Born in Germany, June 8. 1885, Mr. Zuch was a son of Carl and Augusta Zuch. He came to this country at the age of 9 with his parents. He resided here since then. A farmer most of'his life, Mr. Zuch also worked as a cussing watchman for the New York Central Railroad for 25 years, retiring three years ago. She was thrown into the path of another automobile, driven by Paul Wustrack, 1635 Cleveland avenue, but he claimed that he stopped his car before It reached her.
