13901 | Niagara Gazette - 1/28/1957 WASHINGTON -An autopsy was being held today in the dcat of Paulina Longworth Sturm. 31, granddaughter of President Theodore Roosevelt and daughter of "Princess" Alice Roosevelt Longworth. Mrs. Sturm died Sunday at Georgetown University Hospital an hour after she was found uncon- scious in her home by her 10-year- old daughter Joanne. Police said an empty pill bottle was found nearby. Coroner a. Magruder Macdon- ald said he understood Mrs. Sturm had been under the care of a physician. Mrs. Sturm was the widow of Alexander McCormick Sturm, an artist, writer and partner in Sturm-Rugger & Co., manufacturer of firearms. He died in 1951 after a long illness. Mrs. Sturm's father was Nich- olas Longworth, former Republi- can speaker of the House who died in 1931. Her mother, daughter of Theodore Roosevelt, is a prom- inent Washington socialite. In her childhood, Mrs. Sturm was known as the "Valentine Baby" because she was born on Valentine Day in Chicago in 1925. 13904 | Niagara Gazette - 1/28/2011 BUFFALO - Ralph E. Belling, of the Town of Pendleton, NY, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011, at Millard Fillmore Hospital Gates Circle, Buffalo, NY. He was born in Amherst, NY, on September 25, 1922, the son of John and Elsie (Wolf) Belling. Mr. Belling grew up and had worked on his family’s farm for over 28 years before becoming a mixer with the Durez Chemical Co. in North Tonawanda for 17 years, before retiring in 1984. He delivered food for the Interfaith Food Pantry in North Tonawanda and was a member of the Wendleville Senior Citizens. Mr. Belling enjoyed spending time with his family and taking care of his pets. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna F. (Hartman) Belling; two sons, Roger J. (Rebecca) Belling of Wheatfield and Roy D. (Patti) Belling of Sanborn; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Kevin; one great-granddaughter, Ella. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Norris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Norris Jr., 1150 Willow Ave., was born Oct. 17, 1930 in this city and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1948. At* Wagner College, Staten Island, he majored in philosophy and was active in the choir, band, Student Christian Association. He was a member of the Beta Gamma Chi music fraternity and the Sigma Delta Phi social -fraternity. He graduated from Wagner College in 1952. In September of that year. Mr. Norris entered Mt. Airy Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, becoming active in the choir and a dramatic reading group. While a seminary student, he married the j former Barbara Ann Lorcnz of j Philadelphia. The Norrises have a I daughter, Adrian Lee, born last; August. Mr. Norris, who was graduated! from the seminary Wednesday, has I accepted a call to become the pastor; of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ancram, N.Y., in the Hudson Valley, i He will leave after his ordination; to begin work there on Feb. 1. Thilk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Thilk, of Chestsnut road East Wilson. The church was beautiful with decorations of evergreens large bowls of red roses cathedral can- dles and illuminated cross. Preced- ing the ceremony Mrs. Winifred Groan, pianist, played the wedding music and mrs. Violet Wrinklesas sang, "Always" and "Because". The bride who was given in mar- riage by her uncle, William Rosen- busch, of Buffalo, was lovely in a gown of white satin made with full skirt gathered at the waist and fall- ing in a long train in the back. The bodice, buttoned in the back to the waist, was fashioned with a sweet- heart neckline outlined by seed pearls with long pointed sleeves and slippers to match. 13935 | Niagara Gazette - 1/3/1966 Two Niagara Falls women were among -the six Western New York drivers or passengers killed S u n d a y as bad weather and slippery driving conditions closed out an otherwise mild holiday weekend. Dead in Niagara Falls were Mrs. Aid-a DeFazio, 58, of 1612 South Ave., the driver of one car, and Mrs. Mary'Moro, 48, 528 28th St., a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Anthony Moro, 47. Mr. Moro received facial lacerations and Miss Marlene Moro, 15, daughter of tne couple, received head lacerations and contusions of the legs. The two utomoviles col- lided at about 1:15 p.m. on the Hyde Park Boulevard overpass after the DeFaxio auto skidded on the ice-cover- ed bridge. Police said that the DeFazio car turned around three times before colliding sideways with the front end of the Moro vehicle. The rescue squad from the Fire Department was summoned when it appeared at first that Mrs;.DeFazio was trapped in the car. However, police and other firemen were able to free her quickly and get her into a waiting ambulance.. Both women were dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital. Police said that the DeFazio vehicle was equipped with seat belts, but they were not in use at the time of the accident. The Moro car had no seat belts. Mrs. DeFazio was born in tfhis city and attended area schools. She graduated from Stella Niagara. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Drs. Wiilliam C. Gililick, Edward C. Weppner and Joseph H: LaTona, her brother. Previously, she had been employed for 12 years as a bookkeeper for Postal Telegraph. . Mrs. DeFazio was a mem- ber of -Ladies of Charity of Sacred Heart Church and the St. Francis Guild of Mount St. Mary's Hospital. He resided at 284 Delaware St. Mr. Andres compiles more than 2,000 hours as a volunteer worker at the Buffalo Veterans Hospital and received a citation for his service. He was a member of Salem United Church and past president of the church council, past superintendent of the Sunday school and a member of the church choir. Mrs. Alex has been a resident of Ni- a g a r a Falls for 17 y e a r s . She w a s born in Lithuania and came to this country 29 y e a r s ago. Her h u s b a n d . W i l l i am Alex, disap- peared about three years ago and no word has been heard of him since. At the time of his disappearance. Falls police conducted a search for him in this and other cities. He is still thought to be alive. however. and members of the family are hoping he will r e t u r n home w h e n he h e a r s of his wife's death. Besides her husband, Mrs. Alex is survived by t h r e e sons. William. Joseph and Stanley, and two daughters, Mary and Anna, all a t home. Erie county, in 1852, and had been a resident of this village for the past 52 years. For a number of years he was employed as caretaker of Mountain View cemetery until falling health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Pekin Church of Christ He Is survived by his wife, Florence Allard: one daughter, Mrs. Pierce: one sister, Mrs. Winnifred Even, of Oregon City, Oregon: three grandchildren. three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
