She carried a cascade of white roses and shasta pompons. MISS KATHLEEN STENZEL was maid of honor. Miss Virginia Yousey and Miss Janice Walck were bridesmaids. Miss Stenzel was in gold and bridesmaids in royal blue. Their gowns were styled with fitted bodice and skirt with bow in back. They wore matching headpieces. Sommer, 35, associate publisher of the Tonawanda Daily Press, died early today at his home, 704 Niagara street, after a short illness. The funeral plans have not been completed. Mr. Sommer was born here and was a graduate of the North Tonawanda high school. He played end on the school football team of 1929 and was chosen as the Western New York all-star right end .of that year. Upon leaving school he became associated with the Curtis Publishing company as district manager. Later he worked with his father, Herman B. Sommer, publisher of the Press. | 14680 | Niagara Gazette - 10/22/1955 WILSON, Oct. 22 - One Wilson driver was killed and another seriously injured at 12:15- a.m. today in a headon col-. lision in Lake St., near the Duxbury Farm. ' Gordon Frank Dold, 25, of Ide Rd., was pronounced dead on arrival at Ransomville General Hospital. Coroner F. Eugene Ingram, Niagara Falls, said Dold suffered a fractured neck, fractured ribs, a fractured jaw and internal injuries. John R. Schoonmaker. 40, of 182 Franklin St.. was admitted to Ransomville Hospital with fractured ribs, multiple lacerations on the face and legs, a fractured left ankle and possible fractured spine. 50-fool Skid Marks Mr. Schoonmaker told sheriffs deputies he was traveling north in Lake St. and saw the Dold car coming south but could not avoid being hit. Deputies said marks on the highway show the Schoonmaker car skidded about 50 feet along the east side of the highway with the right wheel at the edge of the highway and partly on the shoulder. There were no skid marks from the other car. Both cars were demolished. The two men were taken to the hospital in the Wilson Fire Department ambulance by Kenneth Tracey and Donald Flagler of Wilson. The accident was investigated by Set. Robert Andrews and Deputies Ciyde Doty. William Munch and Stanley Dotmki of the sheriffs department. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Dold was born April 24. 1930. in the Town of Royalton. son of Frank and Clara Wittcopp Dold. He was graduated from Lockport High School. World War II Vet Mr. Dold was employed about three months at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corp before entering the armed forces in 1950 and returned to work there when he was discharged from mili- tary service in 1953. Mr. Dold served in the Air Force in Korea as an airman second class. He was a member of the First Pres- byterian Church, Lockport. In addition to his parents, he is survived by seven sisters, Esther, Elizabeth, Nancy, Arlene, Suzanne, Alice and Sandra, all of Wilson, and four brothers, Victor, Franklin and Frederick of Wilson and Charles O'Dell of Jersey City, N.J. Mr. Scoby was the first chief probation officer of Niagara county and served in that office from 1915 to 1935. when he retired. Previously he was undersheriff. He was born in Shiloh. Ohio, and at the age of ten went to Watklns Glen. N. Y.. to reside with an uncle. He graduated from Cook's academy and when a young man taught school for some time. He was also a prominent member of the Niagara County Pioneers association and served as its treasurer for many years. He was compelled to relinquish the office this year because of failing health. He was a charter member of the Twin City Lawn Bowling club and was its president over a long period of years? In 1880 he married Mary T. Swick. of Wilson. N. Y., and for a number of years conducted a farm In the Town Line road near that village and later opened a general store at "North Ridge. He was school commissioner In Niagara county for nearly 20 years and a member of the B. P. O. Elks and Odd Fellows. He came here to reside 46 years ago. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Claude E. Kinzly, who is investigating the death, said he will rule on the cause on Friday. Wilk was employed as a setup man at the R.T.Jones Lumber Co., Mich- igan Ave. It was reported he came in contact with a 440-volt wire leading to one of the machines. A lifelong resident of this city, Mr. Wilk was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School and was active in baseball and softball. He served as a sergeant in the Army during World War II and was a member of Our Lady of Czesto- chowa and its Holy Name society. Born Dec. 8, 1884, in Buffalo, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beyer, he had lived at the Ridge Road address for about 20 years. He had operated his own vending machine business throughout the county, for the last 10 years. Earlier he had,been employed by Buffalo Pump Co. for five years and was a watchman at the United Board and Carton Co. for seven years. Me was a member of the C a m b r i a Congregational Church and the Cambria volunteer Fire Co. Mr. Brennan resided at 5096 Bronson Drive. I,ewiston. Born in Kokomo, Ind., he came to this city as a youth and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A chemistry teacher at Niagara Falls High School for the last nine years,, he was a member of the Niagara Falls Federation of Teachers and of Civil Defense. He was a former member of the Upper Mountain Volunteer Fire Co. Surviving are his widow, Mary Hoff Brenuan; a daughter, Maureen Brennan and a son, Todd Brennan both at home ; two brothers, Alan Brennan and William Brennan, both of this city, and his stepmother, Mrs. Joseph Brennan. Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, lewiston, by the Rev. Henry Gugino. Sergeant Carr en- tered the service November, 1917, re- maining at Camp Dix, Greene and Merritt until April, 1918, when he was sent overseas, a member of Co. M. 7th U.S. infantry, which was a unit of what became th famous Third Division. He fought in nine great battles, including the battles of the Marne which checked the Ger- mans in their advance on Paris. It was during the meuse-Argonne of- fensive he was taken ill.
