The full skirt of the gown which had unpressed pleated side pan- els had a court train edged with rosepoint lace. She wore a matching queen's crown, designed of seed pearls and rhinestone, which held her French silk fingertip illusion veil edged with imported lace. she car- ried a bride's bouquet of white or- chids tied with baby satin streamers over a gardenia satin muff trim- med with rosepoint lace. The attendants included Miss Jeannette Ettiopia, maid of honor, who wroe an antique gold satin gown and bonnet of matching sa- tin, the Misses Phyllis Alongi, sis- ter of the bride, and Dorothy Wo- jtowicz, bridesmaids, wore gowns of American Beauty satin and peacock satin, respectively, with bonnets of matching satin. 14702 | Niagara Gazette - 11/18/1952 A Niagara Falls man died yesterday afternoon less than 48 hours after his daughter died while visit- ing him at Memorial hospital. He is Biagio Ferrari, 79, of 471 Twenty- first street. Saturday his daughter, Mrs. Jes- sie Tcdesco, was stricken at his bed- side and died a few minutes later. Funeral services for Mrs. Tedesco were held this morning at the Amato Funeral home. She was buried in St. Joseph's cemetery. Mr. Ferrara, a native of Italy, came to this country with his family 46 years ago. He was retired from the Carborundum company. Surviving are his wife, Liboria Ferrara; three daughters, Mrs. Ventura Tarrenti, Mrs. Nicholas Vilardo and Mrs. Vito Scime, all of Niagara Falls; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Witkop had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Taylor, for two years after spending most of her life at Cambria. She was born in Wheatfield. Mrs. Witkop was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran church, North Tonawanda. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two sons, Leo Witkop, Wheatfield, and Melvin Witkop, Bergboltz, two sisters, Mrs. .George Witkop, Mrs Edward Lemke and a brother, Alfred Werth, all of North Tonawanda. She is also survived by four grandchildren. He had been a member of the Baptist Church choir, the former Masonic Chorus and the Jubal Quartet. The only living member of the latter group is Edwin J. Washbon. Other mem- bers were Frank Harwood and Jesse Shaffer. After working for 13 years as a rural mail carrier. Mr. Augustirio was bora in Italy and came to Niagara Falls about 50 years ago. He lived at 358 12th St. before moving to the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Hamilton, at the 32nd Street address. He was a yard master at the Cox Coal Co. for 38 years before retiring in 1946. He was a member of the M.S. Calogera Society and the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph's Church. In addition to Mrs. Hamilton, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Celestino Garcia, Town of Niagara; four sons, Joseph, Dominic and Police Patrolman Samuel Augustino; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and a sister in Italy. Funeral services will be held from the Magaddino Memorial Chapel Inc. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and at St. Joseph's Church at 10:15 a.m. with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. 14708 | Niagara Gazette - 11/18/1966 An autopsy will be performed today at Mount St. Mary's HHospital to determine the cause of death of William H Seip, 70, of 4659 Creek Road, Town of Lewiston, who was fatally injured while crossing Creek Road to get his mail late Thursday afternoon. Coroner Oscar H Bell pronounced Mr. Seip dead at the scene of the accident. Niagara County sheriff's deputies said Mr. seip was struck by a car driven by Mrs. Sandra J. Shrimpton, 26, of 4371 Creek Road, Town of Lewiston. Mrs. Shrimpton told deputies that she was traveling south in the Creek Road when she saw a dark object appear in the road. She said she tried to avoid hitting the object by swerving to the left, but the collision occurred. She told the deputies that she knew she had struck an object, but that she could not stop at the accident scene. She said she continued south into Lewiston, where she called police from the Frontier House. Mrs. Seip was sitting in the family car which was parked in the driveway of their home when the accident occurred. She told deputies that Mr. Seip had just left the car and was crossing the road to get the mail when the accident occurred,. She said Mr. Seip was in front of the mailbox at the time of the accident. Sheriffs deputies found Mr. Seip about 50 feet down the road from the mailbox and about eight feet from the shoulder of the road. Coroner Bell said today that Mr. Seip died almost immediately after the accident. The Niagara County Sheriff's Department has impounded the Shrimpton auto and deputies are continuing the investigation of the accident. Investigating the accident Thursday were Sgt. Raymond Sionko and Deputies Ronald Lucarini and John Kenney. Born in Forest Junction, Wis., Mr. Seip lived in the town of Lewiston for the last 10 years. Prior to that, he lived in Niagara Falls for 15 years. He was employed as a scheduler at Textron's Bell Aerosystems Co. for 15 years before retiring seven years ago. He was a veteran of World War I. In addition to his widow, Mr. Seip is survived by two sons, William Seip, of this city, and Edward Seip, of Eggertsville; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Hall, of Niagara Falls, Ont.; one brother, Irvin Seip, of West Bend, Ind., and eight grandchildren. This afternoon, on their golden wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Bluhm, both still in good health, received the congratulations of many friends and relatives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Sewar, 74 South Niagara street. Mrs. Sewar is a daughter of the happy couple. A day of celebration which recalled many Joys and sorrows of a fleeting half century will be brought to a close this evening when the honored couple will be feted by members of their family at a dinner to the Park hotel. Mr. Bluhm was born in Germany, September 1, 1863, and his wife first saw the light of day in the same country two years later on December 22, 1865- Both came here In their early twenties and have lived ln Lockport ever since. For 22 years Mr. Bluhm was toployed in the old Indurated Fibre corporation plant. Then he obtained employment at the Federal Milling company and remained there for another 21 years. 14723 | Niagara Gazette - 11/19/1962 A former city councilman, bridge superintendent a n d deputy county clerk, Roy B. Suitor. 79, died in his sleep Sunday (Nov. 18. 1962) at his home. 2008 16th St. Mr. Suitor had been in poor health for more than two years. He was released from Memorial Hospital about a week ago. Mr. Suitor was born in Youngstown. He lived in this city 60 years. His public life began in 1914 when he was named city sealer of weights and measures. In 1922 he became superintendent of public service. He continued in this post until 1935. Mr. Suitor was elected to the City Council in 1936 when Dr. W. Levell Draper was mayor and the other council- men were W a I t e r Greig, Stephen Lamb and Blinco. In 1944, when Mr. left the Council, Mr was mayor and Eugene But- ler, John Keller and Charles McDonald w e r e the other members. During his second Council term in 1941 Mr. Suitor was named terminal superivsor of the new Rainbow Bridge. He held this position for two years. He was named second dep- office, and continued in that office until he retired in 1954. Mr. Suitor was a member of the First Prcsbyt e r i a n Church. He was. a past master and 50-year member of Niaga r a River Lodge 785, F&AM. His wife, the former Lucy Laughlin, died two years ago. He .was Middleport mayor from 1943 to 1951 and also served as a deputy Niagara County clerk from 1937 to 1950. A Republican, he was a village trusteee .from 1935 to 1943 and was Niagara County rent administrator from 1950 to 1953. He was a former employe of the Harrison Radiator Division of the General Motors Corp. in Lockport, where he worked from 1953 until retiring in March 1966 because of ill health. He was a superintendent of technical data at the firm. A native of this community, he was bom the son of the late George S. and Winnifred Ennist Bennett. His father once operated the Bennett Lumber Yard here. Mr. Bennett was a 1926 sraduat of the former Middleport High School and attended the former Mechanics Institute in Rochester. A past president of the Northwestern Association of Villiage Officials, he was a past master of Cataract Lodge 295 F and AM. Y., Nov. 2.-A lovely candlelight wedding was solemnized on Daturday evening, October 27, at 7:30 o'clock at the Somerset Union Methodist church when Miss Frances Ella Rhodes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Henry Rhodes, of West Lake road, became the bride of Mr. Earl K. Dickinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willford Dickinson, of Woodstock, Ont., the double ring ceremony being performed by the Rev. Marcum B. May, pastor of the church. The church was beautiful with the chancel decorated with silver candelabra, behind the open Bible, flanked on either side by tall candles banked with baskets of large white chrysanthemums and white pom-poms. Mrs. Mary Tay- lor Rhodes, of Warren's Corners, N.Y., played a program of music preceding the ceremony, following with the wedding music. Miss Joan Wass, of Barker, sand "Because," before the ceremony, and "I Love You, "Truly" during the service. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a white gown, made with a fit- ted satin bodice, sweetheart neck- line and full puffed sleeves coming to a point over the wrists and with a wkirt of neonine, fashioned with a long train. Her finger tip veil, of Chinese silk, caught to a beaaded crown, was made of material sent to her from North Africa by the groom while he was stationed there. She wore three strands of pearls with matching earrings also the gift of the groom and carried a shower bouquet of white roses, pom-poms and stephanotis. The matron-of-honor, Mrs. Evelyn D. Riley, of Barker, a cousin of the bride, was gowned ln an ice blue dress made with a satin bodice, sweetheart neckline, bracelet length sleeves and full net skirt. Otto Brass, pastor of St. James church. The Rev. Mr. Brass has been pastor of the local church for the last 39 years. The Rev. Rudolph Grabau, D.D., Buffalo, uncle of the bride, performed the ceremony before an altar banked with yellow chrysanthemums. Mrs. Fred Sommerfelt, Buffalo, sang "O Perfect Love** accompanied by Mr. Theodore Grabau at the organ. The bride chase a teal blue streetlength dress, pink hat and matching accessories. Her corsage was of pink roses. Mrs. Elsie Macholtz was matron of honor, wearing green silk with white accessories and a corsage of white roses. Roland Brass, Niagara road, son of the Rev. Brass, was the best man. The wedding dinner was held at the Plantation restaurant for the immediate families. White chrysanthemums centered the bride's table. At 9 p.m. a reception followed at the parsonage, which was decorated with yellow and white chrysanthemums. Cake and coffee were served. Out of town guests included the Rev. and Mrs. Rudolph Grabau and Hugo Grabau, Mr. and Mrs. Fred sommerfelt, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Grabau, Jr., Miss Hilda Kinderman, Miss Norma Grabau, all of Buffalo; the Rev. and Mrs. Edward Grabau, North Tonawanda, and Miss Minnie Hoffmeister, Niagara Falls. The bride, who was an employe at Hens and Kelly's in Buffalo, was delightfully surprised by her co-workers attending the reception. 14744 | Niagara Gazette - 11/2/1950 Wilhelmina Swan Dies at Age of 91 Mrs. Wilhelmina Swan, 91, a native and resident of this city throughout her life, died last night at the Niag ara Falls Memorial hospital. She was the daughter of the late George and Charlotte Haeberle, an old pioneer family in the city, and the wife of the late Gayton H. Swan. Mrs. Swan was the oldest member ot the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, a life member of Flagler Chapter 355, Order of Eastern Star, a charter member of Riverdale Rebeka Lodge 195, and a member of the Ladies' Aid society of the Lutheran church. Surviving are a son, Frank G. Swan, Hamilton, Ont.; three daughters, Mrs. Charlotte E Dykstra, Mrs. Hilda B. Hauth and Mrs. Edna L. Hull; one brother, Charles E, Hae berle; two sisters. Miss Barbara Hae berle and Mrs. Carrie Padelford, all of this city, and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 14746 | Niagara Gazette - 11/2/2010 LEWISTON - Evelyn (nee Powell) Neubauer, 88, of Lewiston, NY, went to her eternal home on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at her residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on December 17, 1921 in Summerville, PA, she was the daughter of the late David and Mabel (Crawford) Powell. Mrs. Neubauer attended schools in Pennsylvania and came to Niagara Falls, NY during World War II. On September 28, 1946 Evelyn married Richard G. Neubauer in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He predeceased her on November 26, 2003. She worked for the former Spirella Company and later was a Manager for Jo-Ann Fabrics in Lewiston. Mrs. Neubauer was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in the Town of Niagara, NY as well as the former Home Extension Club. Evelyn enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing piano and sewing. Mrs. Neubauer is survived by one daughter, Roberta "Robin" Neubauer of Lewiston, NY; one sister, Jean (Clair) Miller of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Chapel of the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY (297-9007). Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on January 2, 1928 to the late Valerius and Helene (Voelker) Ferchen. A lifelong member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Bergholz. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Wendt on June 3, 1950. She entered into rest December 5, 1997. Robert is a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion- Wheatfield Post 1451 and an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company. His hobbies and interests included baseball, playing euchre and gardening. He was employed at Canlake-Ashland Oil Company and NOCO in Tonawanda, retiring as a supervisor in 1990. Survivors include two children, Cary (Laura) Ferchen and Claudia Ferchen; grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Ferchen, Donna (Ron) Ferchen, Tim (fiancee Franci) Ferchen and Jonathan Ferchen; step-grandchildren, Lisa (Andrew) Ferree and Erin (Michael) Jankowiak; a great-grandchild, Savannah and step-great-grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah and Madison; and several nieces and nephews. N. Y. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend Z. E. Bates. The church was beautifully decorated with palms and chrysanthemums. Mrs. Myron J. Schadc sang "At Dawning." Just before the ceremony accompanied by Mrs. Banks who also played the wedding march. The bride, who was given in marriage by her cousin Myron Schadc. looked lovely In a wedding gown of white crepe-back satin. The skirt was made of bouffant styk with uneven hemline and was trimmed with chantilly lace and pearls. Her tulle veil was arranged cap-style and' was caught with orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of lillles of the valley and bridal roses. The bride's sister. Miss Lorene Weaver, acted as bridesmaid. She was gowned in powder blue georgette with hat to match and carried an arm bouquet of chrysanthemums. Leonard Bradt. Jr.. acted as best man and the ushers were Burdettc Bob- zien and Myron Weaver. Immediately following the ceremony a reception for fifty guests was held at tho home of the bride. After a motor trip to Washington. Philadelphia ond New York. 14750 | Niagara Gazette - 11/20/1928 LOOKPORT, Nov. 20.-Refusal of the attending physician to sign a death certificate, yesterday moved Dr. P. A. Klttinger, coroner, to announce that he will hold an inquest in the death of Walter J. Kline, 53 years old, who died on Saturday after several weeks' Illness. Although Kline was critically ill with a carbuncle on his neck, only Christian Science practitioners were called until a few hours before the man's death. Coroner Klttinger said he had been told. Dr. H. H. Mayne, called after Kline lapsed into unconsciousness, refused to sign a death certificate, according to the coroner. At an autopsy held yesterday, upon direction of Coroner Klttinger, physicians found that the man died of ab- cesses on the liver and spleen attributed to poison from the carbuncle, which was six Inches in diameter.
