Flavel Shawn Tobin 
passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021. He was born on September 24, 1968 to the late William and Diana (Blakeslee) Tobin.
Flavel was a 1986 graduate of Akron High School.  He and Luann Jago were married on March 19, 1994 and they had four children together. Flavel worked for KT Construction in Tonawanda for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He especially loved doing crossword puzzles and watching wrestling with his son.
Loving husband of Luann Tobin, cherished father of Flavel S. Tobin II, Michelle (Nick) Szalay, Hannah Tobin and Renee Tobin; proud grandfather of Amara Szalay and Heaven Tobin-Srock; dear brother of Denise (Amielia) Tobin, Bill (Laurie) Tobin, Cindy (Bryan) Shafer, and Karen (Rick) Carey.

Gerald William Lindke 
went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2019. He was born in Middleport, NY on July 28, 1941 to the late Burt and Evelyn (Sahms) Lindke.
Gerry lived most of his life in the Western New York area. He and his wife, Jean (Lombard) were married on October 27, 1962 and they raised five children together while he worked as a truck driver for R.L.Gaude Heating and Oil Co. Gerry loved the Lord and attended Legacy Bible Study at the Chapel CrossPoint. He spent most of his time reading and listening to The Bible and always cherished the time he spent with his family.
Gerry is survived by his loving family: his wife of 57 years, Jean Lindke; his children, Samuel (Jacqueline) Lindke, Barbara (Douglas) Foust, Timothy (Melissa) Lindke, late Kristie (Robert) Jones, Benjamin (Molly) Lindke; fifteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister, Betty (Robert) Williams. Gerry is predeceased by his daughter, Kristie and his sister and brother in law, Jean (Willard) Henry. 
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM with a Memorial Service starting promptly at 6:30 at The Chapel  CrossPoint, 500 CrossPoint Pkwy, Getzville, NY 14068. IN LIEU OF

 passed away on October 20, 2020. She was born in Lockport, New York on January 19, 1941 to the late Alton and Marjorie (Baker) Hoste.
Guin was a 1958 graduate of Akron Central High School and worked many years as a bookkeeper for Packing Corporation in Lockport. She loved caring for her two cats and enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with friends.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Her husband, John Kelkenberg predeceased her in 2009.
Burial will be private.

Harold J. Bergquist “Jim” went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2022, after a long battle fighting cancer. He was born in Buffalo, NY on October 29, 1945 to the late Harold E. and Jane (Goss) Bergquist.

Jim was a 1963 graduate of Royalton/Hartland High School. After high school he went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. He took great pride in restoring his 1953 Willy’s Army Jeep, and had been a member of MVPA (Military Vehicle Preservation Association) where he often took part in military reenactments & parades. He was especially proud of the many first place Classic Car awards his jeep received.,

He retired from Harrison Radiator after 35 years of service. He then worked many years after establishing his own “Quest Trucking” business. Jim enjoyed boating and was an avid fisherman who often made his own fishing lures. He especially loved watching NASCAR races, college football, and the NFL; with Notre Dame & Buffalo Bills being his favorite teams.

Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cathy (Lindke) Bergquist; his children, Jacqueline (Will) Worden, Harold “Ed” Bergquist, and Jaime Bergquist; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his brother, David Bergquist.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM with a Memorial Service starting promptly at 12:00 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wolcottsville, 6369 Wolcottsville Rd, Akron, NY 14001. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to either Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wolcottsville, VA, or Wolcottsville Fire Department.

John W. Lang, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2022. He was born in Buffalo, NY on November 18, 1940 to the late Wilbur and Ruth (Koch) Lang.

John attended schools in Williamsville and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and the National Guard. He and Nancy Van Buren were married on February 4, 1967 and they had two children together. John started John Lang Trucking where he hauled grain and farm products until his retirement. He was the proud owner of a 1972 Gran Torino Sport which he purchased brand new.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years Nancy (Van Buren) Lang; beloved father of Allen Lang and Anita (Jeff) Cummings; cherished grandfather of Brittany (Zach) Sucrese and Hunter Cummings; proud great-grandfather of Zander Wilson. He is also survived by his brothers David (Lynn) Lang, Jeffery (late Kathleen) Lang, and Peter (Sondra) Lang as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Car Cruise and Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 2 – 6 PM at the Rapids Fire Hall, 7195 Plank Rd, Lockport, NY 14094.

Joshua David Feitshans, a funny, charismatic, loving, and dedicated man, was born on May 15, 1985, in Lockport, NY, and passed away on June 1, 2023. Joshua, affectionately known as Josh by his friends and family, lived his life to the fullest, always making the most of every moment. He was a devoted husband, a caring son, doting brother and admired uncle. His impact on those around him will be felt for years to come.

Josh was a talented Enterprise Solutions Architect, dedicating his professional life to helping businesses grow through innovative cloud solutions. In his free time, he was a proud Buffalo Bill's fan and enjoyed four-wheeling and working on home improvement and outdoor projects. He always found time to relax and enjoy life with his immediate family and friends. As a loving husband, he was building his family's future with a newly constructed home in Broadview Heights, Ohio. He was the light of every room he walked into and could instantly put a smile on anyone's face. Most importantly, he remained excited about growing his family and becoming a father. His and his wife's firstborn son, Jacob Peter Feitshans, is expected August 1st, 2023.

Josh is survived by his wife, Jennifer Kaczmarek; his parents, Kathy and Kurt Feitshans; his sister, Kristy Lucas; his brother-in-law, Jonathan Lucas; his grandmother, Edith Forsyth; and his nephews and niece, Tyler, Bailey, and Ryan Lucas. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward Forsyth.

Joshua's memory will live on through the love and laughter he shared with those who knew him. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 10th from 2pm until 5pm at the Ross Funeral Home of Akron, NY with a Memorial service immediately following to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man.

Karen Keith of Akron, NY,  entered into rest on May 19, 2023. She was born in Batavia, NY on April 24, 1949 to Wilbur and Naomi (Ewald) Covert.

Karen was a 1967 graduate of Akron Central School District and received her nursing degree from Monroe Community College. She worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Mount St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital in Lewiston for 47 years.  She is a Breast Cancer Survivor and former Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed doing crafts and reading in her spare time. 

Beloved mother of Jeremy (Jennifer Marquart) Keith and Kristin Keith; cherished grandmother of Dillon (Paige Schultz) Bisher, dear sister of Kathy (Robert) Artico; fond aunt and great aunt of Matthew (Jennifer Baker) Heppner and Isaac Heppner. Karen is predeceased by her husband, James Keith in 2003 and youngest sister, Judy Covert in 2013.

Louise Ribbeck,
 of Akron, NY, passed away after a brief and tough battle with cancer at the Buffalo Center.
She is the mother of the late Debbie Paula Ribbeck and Lynn Ann (John) O’Donnell of Honeoye, NY. She was born to the late Wanda and William Pagels and was the youngest of 5 siblings; William (Sharon) Pagels, Elizabeth (Robert) Bergman, Kenneth (Colette) Pagels, and Susanne (Thomas) Keryk. She had many nieces and nephews and was the proud Godmother to Thomas Bergmen, Kristen Keryk, and Christopher Cooper. She was loyally loved by her grand dogs, Jake and Mia.
Louise worked for 38 years as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and assisted her daughter Lynn at her EMS classes as a patient for skills testing. Louise was married to David Ribbeck for 20 years and they were co-owners of Ribbeck’s Greenhouse prior to their divorce. Louise was a 4-H leader with her sisters for many years, where she loved doing floral arrangements and gardening with kids. She was into country music and an avid Bills fan. She especially loved to travel and a was a huge history buff. She was a graduate of Akron High School Class of 1973 and BOCES Student in Cosmetology. She was a member of the ACS Alumni Association.

, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2021. She was born in Akron, New York on August 1, 1931 to the late Warren and Amelia (Czolgosz) Leight.
Norma was a 1949 graduate of Akron Central High School. She married Clair Bluhm on June 16, 1951 and they shared 63 wonderful years together. Her first job out of high school was at National Gypsum where she made many lifelong friends. Norma was a member of the Newstead Historical Society and very involved with St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed canning and gardening in her spare time.
Loving mother of Diane (Andrew) Edwards of Fairview PA, JoAnn Bluhm, and Thomas (Kristine) Bluhm; loving grandmother of Phillip (Wren) Edwards, Zachary (Christine) Bluhm, and Kaitlin Bluhm. Raymond A. Schmigel,
 went home to be with his Lord on May 21, 2022. He was born in Pembroke, NY on October 14, 1929 to the late Walter and Eva Leona (Sprague) Schmigel.
Ray attended Pembroke School and then followed his brothers into stock car racing while working different jobs, racing first at Civic Stadium and later at Ransomville Speedway. He worked as a mechanic for Al Zimmerman Oldsmobile before changing careers to drive a concrete truck for Clarence Redi-Mix where he retired in 1993. Ray enjoyed deer hunting. He was an usher at the Akron First Baptist Church where he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He especially enjoyed helping Duane on the farm and took great pride in his garden.
Loving father of Dale Schmigel and Mark (Connie) Schmigel; cherished grandfather of Carissa (Darren) Berghorn, Chelsea (Brad) Kunkle, Tonya (Jeff) McCormick and Stefanie Schmigel.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren Lilly and Lacey Berghorn as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert L. Brucker, of Akron, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on November 20, 2022. He was born in Akron, NY on June 11, 1939 to the late Lloyd and Margaret (Peters) Brucker.

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Akron Central High School, where his career spanned 30 years as bus mechanic. He retired in 1985. Bob’s hobbies included hunting and fishing but his farm was his real passion. He always looked forward to coffee with the guys every Monday and Friday.

Loving husband of Sandra (Stockman) Brucker; beloved father of Anne (Todd) Lotz, Michael Brucker, and Jennifer (Tim) Manchester; cherished grandfather of Michael (Jamie) Lotz, Joseph (Erin) Lotz, Steven (Nicole) Lotz, and Brittany Manchester; proud great grandfather of Grace, Evan, and Carson Lotz. passed away on February 15, 2023. She was born in East Springwater, NY on May 25,1933 to the late Karl E. and Arlie (Shaver) Becker.
Ruth received a bookkeeping certification from Bryant and Stratton College and went on to work as a tax auditor for New York State, retiring after 20 years. She married the late Walter Kloss on April 3,1954 and they had two children. They shared 63 wonderful years camping and traveling all over the country together.

Shirley Alice Powers 
of Akron entered into rest November 22, 2020. She was born on December 2, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY to Devillo and Mary Gray.
In 1958, she graduated from State University of NY Teachers College at Fredonia with a Bachelor of Science. After a 30+ year career teaching first grade at Allendale Elementary School, Shirley retired in 1995 and set out on numerous traveling adventures as a leader of the Hamburg Senior Citizens Travel Club. Not content to do local bus trips, Shirley took the group far and wide with trips to New York City, the Grand Canyon, California, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other locales.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband John Powers and her siblings Devillo Gray, Bruce Gray and Aileen Hogge. She is survived by her sons Steven Powers, David (Linda) Powers and daughter Alison (Joseph) Paluchak. Shirley was proud grandmother to David and Samantha Powers and JoAllie and Bryleigh Paluchak. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Age 101-peacefully, on December 15, 2021. Esther was born on September 16, 1920. She was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed the distinction of being the church oldest member, and the matriarch of the Kopp family. She was an excellent cook and baker, a championship bowler, and an avid golfer. She was also a master knitter and enjoyed reading and playing Rummikub, Scrabble and various cards games, especially Pinochle. Her love of sports was legendary. She was an avid Bills fan and watched all NFL and college games. She loved Nascar as well and attended many races, rooting on Jeff Gordon from the stands. She also followed tennis, golf and the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She began her career at Wurlitzer after high school and became a homemaker after marrying Harvey Loucks in 1955. Esther attended night school and received her certification as an Electronics Technician. She was employed at Moog Music in East Aurora for 9 years. Esther also enjoyed camping and traveling. She and Harvey traveled the states in a Winnebago camper for many years and were members of several RV clubs. They also traveled to Alaska, Nova Scotia, Switzerland and Norway. Beloved wife of the late Harvey Loucks; dear mother of Jan (Daniel) Krull of Ephrata, PA and Amy Loucks-DiMatteo (James Bishop) of Pendleton; grandmother of Matthew Krull, Andrew (Gayle) Krull; Rachel Bonfessuto; Brian DiMatteo and Blake DiMatteo; great grandmother of Dylan and Hannah Krull and Ethan and Lian Bonfessuto. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. No prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Date and time to be announced. Alice was an amazing mentor and friend to all her family and those at SonRays Ministries, an organization in which she was director for over 35 years. She always reminded everyone that life is precious from conception to eternity. Her message even now would be that it isn't about knowing a God, it's about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Hilda (Jagow) Shaver. Allan W Zuch age 92 was called home to the Lord on Monday May 9, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Al, as he was known, served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952 to return home to marry his love, Beverly. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, traveling and supervising bingo at Rescue Fire Co. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Beverly (nee Richert) Zuch. He is survived by daughters Patti (Daniel) Hutchinson of The Colony, TX, Anna (Wayne) Stoner of Loveland, CO and son Garry (Susan) Zuch of North Tonawanda. Loving father of Anthony M. Pellegrino (Sondra Forgie), James J. Pellegrino and Paul R. Pellegrino (Tammy Denning). Grandfather of J.R. Pellegrino, Ryan Pellegrino, Corey Pellegrino, Brandon Pellegrino, Meghan Pellegrino, Joseph Pellegrino and Gavriella Pellegrino. Brother of Rose Mary (William) Billman, Eugenia (the late Larry) Brennon and the late Michael (Violet) Pellegrino and Teresa (Frank) Morabito.
Pooch retired from International Paper Company and Niagara County. He was a U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran. He belonged to the Renaissance Club in North Tonawanda, the Ganson Street Tigers and a co-founder of the Locust Street Whale Club.
There is no prior visitation. Interment will be at the Western New York National Cemetery, Corfu, NY.

Bruce Frederick Herman, age 77, of North Tonawanda, went to be with his Lord, May 5, 2022. Bruce was a U.S. Army veteran. He had retired from the Niagara Wheatfield School District. He was an avid gardener, he loved sharing garden knowledge and his plants. He loved reading, traveling, fishing and the beach. He was a volunteer at the North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens. He was a member of the W.N.Y Hosta Society and the Buffalo Area Daylily Society. Bruce was always patient and kind and he loved his family and friends. Carolyn (Kreher) Huntington surrounded by the love of her family peacefully passed away on Saturday January 22, at the age of 86.

She is survived by husband Carl whom she has been married to for nearly 65 years. Carolyn has five children; Patricia (Scott Sigel), Kathleen (Greg Obusek), Carl, Judy (Dennis Crowley) and Daniel (JoAnne) and nine grandchildren: Ryan, Colin, Abbie, Devon, David, Dylan, Jenna, Adam and Derek and great grand-daughter Isla. She is also survived by two siblings Katherine and William and numerous nieces and nephews.

Other siblings that predeceased her are Ronald, Ruth, Henry, Donald, and twin sister Marilyn.

Growing up in the Kreher family egg business Carolyn developed strong family values and work ethic. She valued education and graduated first in her Registered Nursing class at Buffalo General School of Nursing. After graduation she worked at different hospitals including Medina Memorial. She provided private duty nursing to those who were nearing end of life. Carolyn had a gift of being able to comfort others.

Carolyn and Carl with the help of their children continue to maintain a family farm market for over 60 years growing some of the best corn and strawberries in WNY. She often could be seen waiting on customers as recently as this past summer.

Carolyn’s first priority has always been her family and they knew it. She always put them first. Her five children and husband were well loved and truly blessed to have had such a wonderful mother.

There will be a private funeral for family at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home in Middleport New York.

(Albion)  John N. “Gramps” Bartel age 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 13, 2022.  John was born December 18, 1954 in Buffalo, a son of Shirley (Jones) and the late Norman Bartel and had lived in this area most of his life. 
John worked as a plumber at Albion Correctional Facility retiring after 25 years.  He loved going to his cabin in Olean, watching the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres; but most of all he loved being with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.  He attended all of their sporting events and took them to Darien Lake often.  John always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anyone.
In addition to his dad, he was predeceased by his brother David Bartel.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 47 years, Debbie; his daughter Stacey (Jake) Olles; his son Neil (Rachel) Bartel; grandchildren Carly, Mia, Maggie, Jackson; his mom Shirley Bartel; brother Paul Bartel; sister-in-law Cheri (Massih) Gray; brother-in-law Roger (Pat) Boehnke; best friend Kenny Dlugosz as well as nieces and cousins.

(Albion)  Richard A. “Dick” DeCarlo, Sr. age 88 passed away peacefully February 24, 2022 at Elderwood of Brockport surrounded by his loving family.  He was born May 25, 1933, in Albion, a son of the late Joseph and Clara (Monacelli) DeCarlo and had lived in this area all his life.
Dick served in the United States Navy for 4 years.  He was a member of Holy Family Parish and Knights of Columbus.  He served as Supervisor and Council Person for the Town of Gaines for many years, Village of Albion Planning board, and he was also on the Albion School Board of Education. Dick taught Industrial Arts and Drivers Education at Churchville Chili School for 27 years, along with being a local developer of Albion Mobile Homes and Heritage Estates for over 60 years.  His passions in life were working hard, hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, his many rottweilers, his pond; but most importantly, his family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Margie.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marleen of 42 years; sons Richard (Sabrina) DeCarlo, Jr., Dustin (Nicole) DeCarlo; grandchildren Mackenzie DeCarlo, Dominic DeCarlo, Matthew DeCarlo, Carson DeCarlo; great-granddaughter Halina; sister Mary Ann Braunbach; brother Joseph DeCarlo as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jack served in the US Navy.  He worked and retired from General Motors in Rochester as a machinist for many years.  Jack enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, gardening, fishing and hunting.

Linda C. Mietz, age 81, died peacefully March 3, 2022 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. 

She was born December 6, 1940 in Medina to Elmer and Mildred (Bruning) Leffler and was a life-long resident of this area.  Linda was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday school for many years.  She was a very devoted wife and old-school homemaker who took great pride in spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.  Linda was a great cook and baker and loved the simple joys of life such as going on her daily trips to Tim Hortons or Candy Apple to socialize with her husband and all the ‘regulars’ while sharing coffee and perhaps a meal.  Mrs. Mietz was predeceased by her sister: Virginia Messore. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Donald, her daughters: Molly (Stephen) McIntyre of Wolcottsville, Jane (Christopher) Harding of MI, her brothers: Stephen (Bette) Leffler of W. Shelby, Timothy (Tina) Leffler of NC, 4 grandchildren: Rachel, Justin, Bryan, Brooke as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dearest brother of Paula (late Donald Kenney), Robbie (Vince) Galvan, and Jackie (Kevin) Graves. Also survived by his daughter Cassie Fusco-Kobayshi. Cherished by his grandchildren Kaylie McAndrew, Salvatore and JuJu Fusco. Eddie was also survived by his niece Jackie Stinson and nephews, Don (Carla) Kenney, Max and Sam Galvan. Eddie was the proud owner of Fat Sal’s Pub & Eatery in Akron, NY where he was “famous” for his Buffalo logs and his quick wit. He was also a veteran in the U.S. Navy.

Gail was a 1971 graduate of North Tonawanda St. High School. She graduated from Logan Chiropractic in St. Louis in 1986. She was a caring professional who sought to help people from their pain. Her love in life was caring for her dogs and her home in Lewiston.

James retired from the City of North Tonawanda where he was the City Building Inspector for over 30 years. Additionally, Jim was a proud WWII Marine Corps Veteran, member of the Renaissance Club and Knights of Columbus Madonna Council. He was an avid golfer and poker player, fearless golf ball hunter, and was loved by all.
