The Tonawanda bride and her North Tonawanda bridegroom were married Oct 3, 1901 in Ascension Church. Amid the well wishes of friends and relatives, they boarded the trolley for the trolley-trip. Mrs. Batt said today she doesn't remember too much about the ex- position except that it was won- derful and exciting. she says she is much more interested in her plans for Sunday. She has chosen a magenta wool dress to wear to church and to an afternoon Open House party. She will accent her attire with a silver and white cor- sage which will be presented to her by her husband. The couple will begin the day by attending a High Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Church where both have been active many years. Mrs. Batt presently serves as vice president of the Altar So- ciety and Mr. Batt is a member of the Holy Name Society. The afternoon party will be in the Anerald Boat Club in Niagara Street. Tonawanda. Mrs. Batt. the former Augusta Schmeichel, was reared in William Street, Tonawand, and Mr. Batt lived on Main Street in North Tonawanda. After their marriage they made their home in Tona- wanda. Mr. Batt worked on the docks and drove a laundry wagon in the early days of their mar- riage. Later he was employed at Van Raalte for more than 30 years and retired in 1953. Mr. Batt is a member of the GAR. The couple had two children, Edward Jr., and the late Leo 0. Batt. M. when Miss Betty Louise Maerten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Maerten of 1088 Falls Blvd. became the bride of Edwin G. Zuch, son of Mr. and Mrs Gerhard Zuch of 1821 Kingston Ave. The Rev. Glllman Burghard performed the ceremony. Arnold Nuoffer. organist, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Rudolph Bush the bride's aunt. Preceding the ceremony she the sang "I Love You Truly" and "Because". and during the service, the hymn "O' Perfect Love" The bride, given in marriage by nor father, wore a gown fashioned in heavy traditional satin. The shadow yoke accented by Venise medallions and embellished with sparkles, outlined the slim waistline and long pointed sleeves. The bouffant skirt with swirling gathers and Venise lace medallions, draped into a Cathedral length train. Her veil, a fingertip illusion with scalloped edge, was caught to the coiffure by an orange blossom clustered tiara and she carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and carnations can- tered with an orchid corsage. Miss Jean Maerten, mald-of-honor for her sister, wore an aqua satin gown, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and gathered shoulderettes with matching mitts. A bosque bodice was trimmed with tiny buttons and the bouffant skirt was scalloped and worn over a net hooped underlining. She worn a maline picture hat and carried a cascade bouquet of multi-colored c a r n a t i o n s, daisies and sweetpeas. The bridesmaids. Miss Patricia Schweichler, Miss Dorothy Schroeder, and Miss Myra Strong were attired in gowns similar to that of the maid-of-honor to orchid, nile green, and maize. They also wore matching picture hats, mitts, and carried multi-colored bouquets. The flower girl, Kathleen Schweichler, cousin of the bride, had a pink taffeta hooped gown with scalloped edge and trimmed with blue bows. Her head-piece was a matching bonnet and she carried a basket of mixed flowers. Donald Zuch attended his brother as best man and the ushers were Glen Nantke, Edward Schweichler, Jr., and William Morrison. For her daughter's wedding. Mrs. Maerten 'Chose a navy blue lace dress with navy 'and pink accessories. Mrs. Zuch, mother of the groom, wore a navy blue marquisette dress with navy and white accessories. Both mothers had corsages of white gardenias. encircles with pink roses. A reception was held to the V.F.W. hall immediately following the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Zuch left for a wedding trip to Washington, D. C, and New York City, the bride wearing a gold suit and topper with brown accessories and an orchid corsage. The church was decor- ated with flowers, and preceding the ceremony, Mr. August B. Heubnor played organ selections. Mrs. Walter Thiemecke sang "Lord, We At Thine Altar Stand." The bride, who was given in, marriage by her brother, Lester Ziemendorf. wore a gown of velvet- ray tafetta fashioned on Empress lines with a sweetheart neckline. Her fingertip veil of illusion fell from a tiara of seed pearls, and she carried a colonial bouquet of white roses. Miss Leetta Ziemendorf, sitter of the bride, was her only attendant. She wore a peach lace dress with tulle inserts and carried a colonial bouquet of talisman rosea and narcissi. Mr. Carl Schulmeister attended his brother as best man and the ushers were Alvio Ziemendorf and Fred Schulmeister. Mrs. Ziemendorf, the bride's mother, wore black crepe and Mrs. Schulmeister choose blue velvet. Each wore a corsage of yellow roses. Dinner was served at the bride's home with covers laid for six at the bride's table which was centered with a three tiered wedding cake. Guests were preaent from Pittsburgh, Niagara Falls and the Tonawandas. Mr. and Mrs. Schulmeister left for a short wedding trip. Miss Arlene Lubs, cousin of the bride, presided at the organ, playing soft music throughout the ceremony, and sccompanying Mrs. Gunnison, soloist, who sang, "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer." Given in marriage by her father, the bride was lovely in a gown of white satin and net, fashioned with high rounded neckline, with net and beaded yoke, fitted sstin bodice with peplum snd long sleeves forming points over the wrists. The full net skirt faffing in a long train. Her finger tip circular veil fell from a beaded tiara. She carried a showed bouquet of white roses, pompoms and gyosophilia. She also wore a single strand pearl necklace, a gift of the groom. Mrs. Kenneth Holmes, cousin of the bride, sttended as matron of honor, while Miss Anne Goodman, sister of the bride and Miss Dorothey Rhoadhouse acted as bridesmaids. The sttendants all wore identical gowns of white faille and carried bouquets of red roses, white pompoms, and aypsophilia, tied with red satin ribbons, and each wearing a small cluster of white pompoms in their hair. Kenneth Holmes was best man. and the ushers were Glenwood Zimmerman. cousin of the sroom and Gerald Dischinger. The mothers' of the bride and groom each chose black crepe with matching accessories, and wore corsages of mixed flowers. Following the ceremony a reception for 123 guests was held at the home of the bride In Wilson. A buffet lunch was served from a lace covered table. centered with a tiered wedding cake and lighted tapers. Miss Kay McCann and- Miss Helen Rhodehouse pre- siding at the urns Mr. and Mrs. Schmitt left for a motor trip to West Virginia, visiting tha Luray Caverns, and returning by the way of Washington D. C. The bride traveled in a brown wool suit with matching accessories, and a corsage of yellow roses. Upon their return and after Oct. 1, they will be at home at 1009 Nash Road. On Thursday evening Sept. 19, after the rehersal. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Hagle entertained the bridal party and the two immediate families at which time the bride presented her attendants with gifts of bracelets, and the groom presented his with wallets. Mrs. Fehrmann moved to Taylor Ridge, about a year ago following the death of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Toellner with whom she had made her home. She is the widow of the l a te Charles Fehrmann, proprietor of a hotel for many years in Lockport Rd., Martinsville s e c t i o n . They were parents of t h r ee daughters, Clara. Lucinda and Ruth and a son, Arthur. All are deceased. Mrs. Fehrmann, the f o r m e r Sophia Freck, was born in the Freck family home, Nash Rd., in 1869. She and her husband lived their entire married life in Martinsville. She has two grandchildren, Walter E. Toellner, North Tonawanda, and Artha Fehrmann Stuebe. She makes her home with Mrs. Stuebe. Mrs. Fehrmann still busies herself with light household duties, attends church regularly and en joys television. She retains her membership in St. Paul's Luther- an Church Falls Blvd. Mrs. Fehrmann has a sister, Mrs. Emma Zimmerman, 520 Old Falls Blvd. Other members of her immediate family were four sisters and a brother, the late Mrs. Mary Edwards.
