19862 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 11/20/1936 Two sudden deaths in North Tonawanda required the investigation last night and today of Coroner J. E. Helwig. Driving along Oliver street near the Spillman Engineery Company's plant shortly before 8 o'clock this morning, Frank Heim, an employe of the company, saw a man sitting on the sidewalk in a helpless condition. Heim learned that the roomed at the Lincoln Hotel, Main and Goundry streets, and, placing him in his car, drove rapidly to the hotel. Hurrying inside to secure help, Heim and several guests returned to the car and found the man dead. Dr. Helwig said that death was due to a heart attack. In the man's pocket was found a card, on which appeared the riame of William Carpenter, 77 years old, 134 Main street, North Tonawanda. The police and Coroner Helwig were trying this afternoon to learn if this is the man's name and whether he has any relatives. Dies Eating Apple. Dr. Helwig was called to the home of Gerhardt Zuch, 1521 Kingston street late last night because of the sudden death of Warren Hill, 53 years old, a boarder, who was employed as a cabinet maker at the Wurlitzer company's plant on the Niagara Falls boulevard. Hill was eating an apple when he was stricken, passing away almost instantly. Dr. Helwig gave the cause of death as apoplexy. Mrs. Frederick G. Voss of Buffalo, a daughter and the only surviving immediate member of Hill's family, came to North Ton- awanda this afternoon and made arrangements for services Sunday afternoon and cremation at Forest Lawn, Buffalo. | HILL, Warren (I107730)

19882 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 11/24/1916 A quiet wedding was solemnized last evening at 7:30 o'clock, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Rech of J84 Payne avenue, when their niece Miss Mable Carrington of East Felton street was united in marriage to Mr. Elmer Behrns of Washington street. Rev. Willis P. Hume, pastor of the Third Presbyterian Church performed the ceremony, in the presence of thirty relatives and friends. The house was decorated with ferns and cut flowers and the ceremony was performed under an arch of smilax and flowers. The bride was gowned in blue taffeta and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums. Miss Mable Kinzly, cousin or the bridegroom was the maid-ofhonor and was gowned in green taffeta and carried yellow chrysanthemums. Mr. Clarence Behrns, brother of the bridegroom was the best man. Given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Amos Eaton, the bride wore a gown of white satin having long sleeves coming to points at the wrftts, princess neckline outlined with tiny white pearls, tiny buttons down the back to the waist and a long train. Her finger tip veil fell from a Juliet crown of orange blossoms. She wore a string of pearls, the gift of the groom, and carried an arm bouquet of calla lilies. Miss Gladys Gable was maid of honor wearing a yellow gown of marquisette princess style, with roses and freesia in her hair and carried talisman roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Pearl Witkop, sister of the groom, wearing blue marquisette, Mrs. Gilbert Fritzke in aqua marquisette and Miss Betty Goetz of Buffalo in pink marquisette all similar in style to the maid of honor.
