Mr. and Mrs. William Witkop
of 27 Stenzel Street were pleasantly
surprised last evening by
large number of relatives and
friends the occasion being their
fortieth wedding anniversary.
The Rev. Louis Heuer of Bergholtz,
brother of Mrs. Witkop,
gave an appropriate talk appro
priate to the occasion. The evening

was spent in playing games.
Four children and five grandchildren
of the couple were present.
The children are Mrs. Bernard
Moll, Mrs. Ruth Ziehm, William
Witkop and Fred Witkop.
Mrs. Phillip Schultz of Niagara
Falls, was one of the guests. She
was a bridesmaid at the wedding
which took place in St. Johns
church, St. Johnsburg in 1899.
Later In the evening luncheon
was served to thirty-two guests.

Saturday, November 15 at 5
o'clock in the home of the Rev.
Harold F. Hewitt, who performed
the ceremony.
The bride wore a long white,
starched organdy dress, made
with princess style neckline and
a finger tip veil. Her shower
bouquet was of white roses.
Miss Mary Russell was bridesmaid
and Miss Ruby Pieper, siser
of the bride was maid of honor.
Mr. John Parvu, Jr., was best
man and Mr. Clifford Pohlman
was usher.
Following the ceremony a wedding
supper was held for 125
guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Fill are at the
present time making their home
in Oswego, N. Y.

Sherwood Graff were united in
marriage in St. John's Church
St. Johnsburg on August 12, 1944
at 4 o'clock, the Rev. Walter
Thiemecke performed the cere-
mony and Mrs. Walter Thiemecke
sang "O Promise Me.
A beautiful wedding was sol-
emnized Saturday, Aug. 12 when
Miss Marian Andrees, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Andrees of
140 Delton street, Tonawanda, be
came the bride of Mr. Sherwood
Graff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben-
jamrn Graff of 859 Payne avenue,
North Tonawanda.
The bride, who was met by
the groom, half-way up the aisle
was beautifully gowned in white
satin top trimmed with lace and
a marquisette skirt with a long
train. Her finger tip veil of illusion
was held in place with orange
blossoms and she carried a bou-
quet of white roses and baby's
breath tied with white ribbon.
The bride wore a locket, the gift
of the groom.
Her attendant Miss Gladys Andress,
sister of the bride, was
maid of honor and was gowned in
yellow lace with a tight bodice
and a net skirt with a sweetheart
neckline. She wore a locket. Her
headdress was a crown of flowers
with a blue veil attached and
blue shoes.
Mr. LeRoy Stenzil of St. Johnsburg
was chosen as best man.
The groom's mother selected a
gown of powder blue with navy
blue accessories and wore a corsage
of white and pink roses tied
with a pink ribbon.
After the ceremony a supper
was served for the bridal party
at Keller's Restaurant on Adam
street, Tonawanda.
Later In the evening a reception
was held at the home of the
groom's parents on Payne avenue
for the immediate family and
friends. The table was centered
with a three-tiered wedding cake.
Guests were present from the
Tonawandas, Pennsylvania and
the Sampson Naval Training Station.

after a long illness.
A World War I veteran and

Sprenger was a member of
Sweeney Hose Company and
Frontiersmen Post 7545,
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Besides his brother, Mr.
Sprenger is survived by his wife,

hospital. He was a member of

Company. Surviving are four sisters,
Mrs Roy Carroll and Mrs.
Walter Ferguson of North Tonawanda,

of North Tonawanda. Rites will

Mrs. Barber, the former Nancy Bachmann

Saturday in St. Mary's Hospital,
Niagara Falls, after a brief illness.
A registered nurse,"Mrs. Barber was
a graduate of Mt. St. Mary's Hospital
School of Nursing and a magna cum
laude graduate of LeMoyne College.
She held a master's degree in nursing
from State University at Buffalo. #
Mrs. Barber was on maternity leave
from her job as a counselor in the
Rehabilitation Center at Buffalo State
Hospital when she was stricken.
Before joining the Buffalo State
Hospital staff, she had been employed
as a counselor at the Niagara County
Drug Abuse Center.
She is survived by her husband.

lengthy illness. He was born in
Newark, N.Y. and resided in the
Tonawandas most of his life. He was
an Army veteran of World War II,
serving in the Pacific theatre and he
was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Mr. Stoltz was retired from the New
York Central Railroad system after
27 years of service, and also retired
from the North Tonawanda School
system after 12 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Helen
(nee Miskow) Stoltz of North Tonawanda;
two daughters, Mrs.

York City, Mrs. Ronald (Brenda)

a boat builder by occupation. Besides

.son, Merritt D. Annis of Tonawanda;
one sister, .Mrs. Geraldine Tilbe of
North Brookfield, N. Y., and two
brothers, Albert S Annis of New
York city and James A. Annis of

in a white marquisette gown, the
fitted Bodice made with square
neck and long sleeves, and the

set in with lace and forming

and she carried a bouquet of
bridal roses, sweetness and Mies
of the valley.
Miss Gladys Andrees was her
sister's maid of honor and wore
a gown of blue tafeta with
matching marquisette skirt and
bows at the waistline. She also
wore a tiara of flowers and car-
ried yellow roses, and orchid

sweetpeas, tied with a yellow
bow.
Private Richard Hughes, uncle
of the groom, Niagara Falls, who
has been stationed at Fort George
Wright, Spokane, Washington,
was best man. ,
Th e groom's mother wore a
navy blue dress with white accessories
and a corsage of white
roses, sweetpeas and lillies of the
valley. Another sister of the
bride, Miss Marian Andrees,
wore a yellow and blue plaid suit
with white accessories and a °corsage
of mixed flowers.
Immediately after the cere-
mony a dinner was held at Fangar's
tavern for the bridal party
and families, where covers were
laid for ten. At seven o'clock that
evening a reception was held at
the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall
on Robinson street. The table
there was centered with a three
tiered decorated wedding cake.
Guests were present from Niagara
Falls, Akron, Ohio, Kenmore
and the Tonawandas.
The couple left for a trip to
visit relatives in Orangeville, Pa.,
the bride wearing a beige suit
and a white hat with red and
white accessories. They are making their
home for the present
at 125 Minerva street.
Pre-nuptial showers were given
by fellow employees of the Rudolph
Wurlitzer company at the
home of Mrs. Marie Krueger in
Bennett street; by three aunts of
the bride, Mrs. Edward Heschke,
Mrs. Philip Moll and Mrs. William
Andrees, and by her sister,
Miss Gladys Andrees, who was
assisted by another sister, Miss

FREDERICK KIPHUTH
Frederick Kiphuth, 78 years old,
died yesterday afternoon at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. William
Grobe, 32 Walter avenue,
after a brief illness with pneumonia.
He was a life-long resident
of Tonawanda and a member
of the Salem Evangelical
church and the Home Department
of the church. Surving are two
daughters, Mrs. Grobe and Miss
Mabel Kiphuth; a son, William;
two grandsons, Leonard and William
Grobe; a brother, John, Orlando,
Fla., and three sisters, the
Misses Amanda and Lena Kiphuth
and Mrs. Louisa Kratt, all
of Tonawanda- Rites will be held
Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from
the Grobe residence. Rev. Walter
F. Hetzel will conduct the service
and burial will be in Salem cemetery.
Mr. Kiphuth was a member
of Tonawanda Council, No. 117,
Jr. O.U.A.M.

Frank Baronich, a former North
Tonawandan, died yesterday in
San Bernardino, Calif., according
to word received here today.
He lived here in 1940 and 1941.
He is survived by four brothers,
Peter and John of North Tonawanda,
Michael of DuBois, Pa.,
and Edward of Buffalo; two sisters,
Mrs. John Chorny and Mrs.
Gordon Porter, both of North Tonawanda.
He will be buried Saturday
in San Bernardino.

Prospect Ave.. Tonawanda, Saturday
morning (Dec. 17, 1955) in Buf-
falo General Hospital after a brief
illness. Born in Tonawanda, Mr.
Batt was a lifelong resident of
the city and had been employed for
the past 23 years at Spaulding Fibre
Co. Inc. He was a member
jof First Presbyterian Church of
Buffalo. He is survived by his
wife, Marie, nee Foehl; three sons,
Dean, Dennis and Jon; a daughter,
Mrs. Martin Livingston of
Grand Island: three grandsons;
!his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Batt, and a brother, Edward Batt
Jr., of Tonawanda. Friends may
call after noon Sunday at the Hamp
Funeral Home, 37 Adam St., Tonawanda,
where services will be at
2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Dr. Ralph
B. Hindman officiating. Burial
will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.

a long illness. Born in Eggertsville.
she had lived in Tonawanda
for the past three years
and was a member of Salem
United Church of Christ. Survivors
include her husband, Arthur
R. Schmeichel; a sister, Mrs.
Phillip (Anna) Muck of Tonawanda,
and a brother, Albert
Kolz of N o r t h Tonawanda.

S t , Tonawanda, where services
will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday.
