Mr. Leaderstorf was a paperhanger and painting contractor here 16 years before he moved to California for his health. He last visited the Tonawandas and his many friends here in 1948 when he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary. He was a charter member of the Junior Order of the United Ame r i c a n Mechanics, Tonawanda Council 117, and a member of the I. O. O. F. He is survived by his wife, Emma (nee Breunner), a sister Mrs. Louise Wiik of North Tonawanda; a daughter, Mrs. Cecelia Jeffery of San Diego; and two sons, Chester of Tonawanda and Herbert of North Tonawanda. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Roger, Duane, Donald, Robert and Harry Jeffery. Burial will be Tuesday afternoon. 20455 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 3/22/1932 The police today were conducting an intensive investigation in an attempt to secure trace of Mrs Mildred Briggs, 29 years old, and her daughter, Alice, four years old, and son, David, 1 1-2 years old, missing from their home at 31 1-2 Wall street since 9 o'clock yesterday morning. Edward Briggs, husband of the missing woman, sought the services of the police late last night. having exhausted efforts to locate her. The husband told the police that he feared his wife had committed suicide, as she Had made threats recently to end her life. It was feared, the police said, that if the woman committed suicide she likely intended the same fate for her children. Seen Going Toward Main Street Neighbors reported that Mrs. Briggs and her children were seen crossing a lot near their home. going toward Main street. Tlie police later learned that the woman and her children boarded a Niagara Falls bound high speed trolley car at the Ward road station in the outskirts of the city later in the morning. Mrs. Briggs has been in poor j health for some time. Police Chief George C. Marohn and Ptrolman Herburt Root went to Niagara Falls after learning that Mrs. Briggs and her children boarded a car bound for that city. There they learned that the woman and children were seen in the waiting room where the mother purchased some candy for the youngsters, The police also learned that they were seen passing a restaurant on Falls street. The Falls police assisted Chief Marohn and Officer Root and questioned the state reservation police and attendants at the bridge crossing the gorge there but failed to find any further trace of the missing trio. Rewards were offered in the hope that persons might be spurred to give greater attention to the movement tq recover the bodies from the lower part of the Niagara river before they worn swept into Lake Ontario and out of reach of searching parties. "Red" Hill of Niagara Falls, Ont. whose daring exploits on the Niagara river recommended him to the Briggs family made a special effort at the request of the woman's husband, Edward Briggs. to find the bodies. The Rev,. Alexander Corti performed the double ring ceremony before an altar enhanced with white snapdragons and chrysanthemums. White chrysanthemums tied with satin ribbons marked the family pews. The bride's gown of white Chantilly lace was designed with a stand-up collar, long sleeves and a tulle ruffled skirt with a fanshaped train. Her fingertip veil of tulle was fastened to a jeweled queen's crown. She carried a heart shaped bouquet of white sweetheart roses and lilies of the valley centered with an orchid. She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Penny Hallows, the bride- groom's sister was maid of honor wearing a floor length pink taf- feta dress complemented with matching hat and gloves of net. Wearing identically fashioned costumes were the bridesmaids; Miss Jean King, in yellow; Miss Judith Hallows, the bridegroom's sister, in green and Miss Sally Budwey, in orchid. The flower girl, Kathleen Vi- grass, the bride's niece, wore a blue taffeta frock with net hat and gloves. all attendants car- ried baskets of mixed flowers. Thomas LeBar was best man. James Vigrass, the bride's brother, Dewey Bush, the bridegroom's cousin, and Ernest Vigrass, the bride's cousin, were ushers. Kenneth Vigrass, the bride's brother was ring bearer. Mrs. Vigrass wore a pink lace sheath dress with matching shoes and white accessories. A corsage of white roses accented her costume. Mrs. Hallows wore a blue satin sheath dress with matching accessories and a corsage of red roses. A reception was given in Adams Fire Hall.
