Lockport, June 23.-The body of
Howard Stahl, nineteen, Royalton
Center, drowneu yesterday morning in
Cothran's pond, Chestnut ridge, was
recovered at noon today, twenty-six
hours after the young man lost hid
life while swimming. The body was
found by an uncle of the boy, August
Pittler, Jr., also o f Royalton Center,
who grappled with the help of a hook
attached to a long rope. It was some
distance from where the boy had gone
down.

Before an altar bedecked in pink and white snapdragons,
baskets of cut flowers, and ferns and palms, Beatrice J.
Stenzel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Stenzel of
Ward road became the bride of Howard S. Sahr, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Benjamin Sahr of 612 Falls boulevard. The ceremony
took place in St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johnsburg
on Saturday, June 7, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Walter
Thiemecke officiating.
The bride, given in mexriafe
by her father wore a gown of
white starched chiffon. Her veil
adorned with orange blossoms,
fell from a sweetheart bonnet and
she carried white carnations and
lilies of the valley. She wore a
rhinestone pin, choker and earrings,
the gift of the bridegroom.
Mrs. Alfred Schimschack was
matron of honor. Her gown was
of acqua marquisette with cap
sleeves and matching accessories.
She carried a bouquet of yellow
rosea and white carnations tied
with aqua ribbon.
The bridesmaids, Miss Lucille

Sahr and Mrs. La Verne Vorpahl,
wore gowns of pink marquisette
and carried bouquets of pink carnations
and pink roses.
Anna Elizabeth Killian was junior
flower girl wearing a gown
of pink organdy. She carried a
bouquet of pink carnations and
baby breath.
Donald Werth, attired in a white
suit, was ring bearer.
Arthur Rudnicke of Buffalo was
best man. Ushers were Howard
Stenzel, brother of the bride and
Bernard VerralL
Mrs. Stenzel, the brides mother,
chose a dress of blue print and
white accessories. Her corsage
was of white and yellow roses.
The groom's mother, Mrs. Benjamin
Sahr wore a acqua dress and
her accessories were white. Her
corsage was the same as the
bride's mother.
Mrs. Thiemecke sang two solos,
"Because" and "The Lord's
Prayer" and was accompanied by
Mr. Howard Passel, organist
A wedding supper was served
at Fanger's with covers for forty-
two. A reception was held in
the St John's Fire Hall.
The bride gave her attendants
rhinestone chokers.
Out of town guests were present
from Buffalo, Niagara Falls,
Lockport and Youngstown.
Mr. and Mr. Sahr took a trip
to Pennsylvania and are at home
at 153 East Felton Street.

hospital, Buffalo. Mrs. Blackmore
was a life long resident and a

BAKER - Harvey P. Baker, 70,
of 21 Ward Rd.. Town of Wheatfield,
died Satruday evening (June
21, 1958) at his residence after a
lingering illness. He was a mem-
ber of First Presbyterian Church,
Tonawanda, and had been em-
ployed by Columbus McKinnon
Chain Corp. for 25 years until his
retirement. Surviving are his wife,
Harriet (nee Rich), three daugh-
ters, Mrs. Ernest Vigrass, Mrs.
Glen Sisson and Mrs. Fred Kol-
pack and one son, Harvey L. all
of the Tonawandas; eight grand-
children; two sisters, Miss Lydia

The bride was gowned in nile green
chiffon trimmed with matching Spanish
lace and carried an arm bouquet
of bride roses and gypeophelia. Her
sister. Misa Regina Strassel, was the
attendant, wearing peach georgette
with cream Venetian lace trimming,
and her arm bouquet was of lavendar
asters and gysopheha. The groom was
attended by his brother, Elmer Goldpenny.
Following the ceremony a wedding
supper was served at the home of the
bride with covers for ten at the bride's
table which was centered with a wedding
cake decorated with a.miniature
bride and groom. Mr. and Mrs. Goldpenny
left for a trip to Philadelphia
and Washington. Mrs. Goldpenny wearing
a. traveling suit of navy blue with

One of the most attractive wed-
dings of the season occurred at four
o'clock yesterday in Immanuel Luth-
eran Church on Morgan street which
Miss Alma W. Streblow, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. August R. Strehlow of
240 Morgan street became the bride
of Clarence c. Tiedman, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Tiedman of Fletcher
street. Rev. F. O. Scholtz, pastor of
the church performed the ceremony
amid attractive decorations of Palms
and white peonies. Pews for the
families were marked with white
bows.
Miss Strehlow, clad in an ivory
satin gown trimmed with chantilly
lace, her tulle veil caught with
orange blossoms and carrying a bou-
quet of bride's roses and lilies and the
valley showered with sweet peas,
entered on the arm of her brother.
Mr. John F. Mahl. tenor, sang, "The
Bridal Sons" to Lohengrin's wed-
ding march as the procession enter-
ed the church and later, "The Lord
is My Shepherd" accompanied by
Mrs. Jacob Smith, organist.
Miss Ruth Strehlow, sister of the
bride, in a green taffeta frock made
in bouffant style with arm bouquet
of Butterfly roses and gypsophelia,
was maid of honor. Brides maids
included Mrs. Herbert Strehlow and
Miss Elde Schoen of Buffalo, the
former in yellow, the latter in or-
chid groesette crepe gowns alike and
carrying arm bouquets of Columbia
roses and sweet peas. Little Miss
Geraldine Boyer of Niagara Falls in
a peach colored dress was flower
girl, carrying a basket of Gladioli
and sweet peas, tied with white
tulle.
Mr. Tiedman was accompanied by
Arthur Waterstrat, best man and
Herbert Strehlow, Walter Morgan,
Alfred Strehlow and Franklin Hahn
as ushers.
Mrs. Strehlow, mother of the
bride, was gowned in rosewood
georgette crepe and Mrs. Tiedman,
the groom's mother wore a peach
colored crepe dress. Both had cor-
sage bouquets of pink and orchid
sweet peas.
The bride wore her gift from the
groom, a demmie strand of pearls,
and he her white gold cuff links.
Miss Strehlow presented her atten-
dants with friendship pins and Mr.
Tiedman gave his attendants white
gold cuff links.
Immediately after the ceremony a
reception was held at the home of
the bride's parents in Morgan street
for eighty guests. Supper was serv-
ed in a marquee, the bride's table,
with covers for twelve, being decor-
ated in white with wedding bells and
white cathedral candles. In the
center was a large wedding cake.
Those present from out of town
included Michael Paul of Pittsburgh,
Mr. and Mrs. Boyer and family of
Niagara Falls, the Misses Gertrude
and Elsie Schoen, Mr. and Mrs. Emil
and Miss Edna Cecil, Mr. and Mrs.
Frederick Paul, the Misses Wilma
and Gertrude Paul, Miss Elsie
Shoen and Walter Morgan of Buf-
falo.
Mr. and Mrs. Tiedman left im-
mediately after the reception for a
motor trip and will be at home after

wandans to build in t h e Elmwood P a r k development of
Tonawanda, will c e l e b r a t e t h e i r 50th a n n i v e r s a r y Sunday.
They have lived in 50 N o r t h Elmwood P a r k for 40 y e a r s.
Mr. Martin and the former Ma-
tilda E. wilke were married June
27, 1905 in the bride's home, 169
Keil St. the Rev. A. F. Lutz, pas-
tor of Redeemer Lutheran Church
officiated.
Their attendants were Miss Lil-
liam Wilke, now Mrs. George W.
Kroening; Miss Virginia Louns-
bury, now Mrs. William Clayton,
Jr., Judge Charles J. Knoell and
the late Dr. Edward C. Koenig.
The couple's first home was in
350 Delaware St. Mr. Martin was
employed 49 years at the First
Trust Company. He is a charter
member of Redeemer Lutheran
Church where he and Mrs. Mar-
tin are active members. He also
is a charter member of the Tona-
wandas' Kiwanis Club and a mem-
ber of the Lutheran Laymen's
League.
The Martins have three chil-
dren, Virginia (Mrs. David Was-
son); william R. Jr. and Glenn
W. Martin. Their grandchildren
are Janet, Christopher, Cindy,
Douglas and Roy Wasson, Carol
William R. III and Hal Martin
and Connie Martin.
After a dinner party at the Del-
aware Hotel for the immediate
family and close friends, the Mar-
tins will have open house in
North Elmwood Park from 8 to 10
p.m. Sunday. Their friends are in-

A beaded crown held her illusion
veil and she carried a cascade
bouquet of white roses.
Miss Mary Enid Sauberan was
maid of honor. The bridesmaid
was Miss Barbara Tripi, and Miss
Mary Jane Houdina was the flower
girl. Their dresses were aqua net with
square necklines trimmed in lace
and satin bows at the back. The
maid of honor carried a cascade
of red rose buds, the bridesmaid,
yellow roses, and the flower girl
carried a basket of yellow flowers.
Donald Brock was the best man
and Bruce Fernandez the usher.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Houdina chose a pink lace
dress over satin with white ac-
cessories. Mrs. Brock selected a
navy blue dress with navy acces-
sories. Both mothers wore pink
and white rose corsages.
A buffet-style supper was served
in Ukrainian Hall for 300 guests.
Out of town guests were from Clif-
ton, N.J.
After a trip to Washington, At-
lantic City and New York, Mr.
and Mrs Brock are at home in
158 Fletcher St.

Harold Bendt, 47, of Burt, died last
night at Emergency Hospital's Burn
Treatment Center in Buffalo from
burns suffered in an industrial
accident.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Department
said Bendt was working at the
Noury Chemical plant in Burt when a
small amount of chemical exploded
last Wednesday.
He was taken to Newfane Intercommunity
Hospital for initial
treatment and then transferred to
Buffalo.
No one else was hurt in the
explosion,

ter, Pauline, to Harold Brumley, Sat-
urday, June 20, at 3:30 o'clock at the
paronage of Frieden's church, Rev.
E. A. Schulz, officiating.
The bride wore a gown of flat white
crepe trimmed with silver lace and
veil of tulle caught with oragne blos-
soms. She carried a shower bouquet
of bridal roses. Miss Mabel Koepsell
was her sister's maid of honor, wear-
ing a gown of green capton crepe,
trmmed with silver lace and carrying
pink roses. Bridesmaids were Mis
Evelyn Deuer, wearing orchid crepe,
and Miss Cora Koenig, wearing peach
crepe. Both carried pink roses. The
best man was Stanley Schaffer and
ushers were Oscar Thoms and Charles
Koepsell.
Following the ceremony, a reception
was held at the home of the bride's
parents in 98 Wheatfield street. A
wedding supper was served with cov-
ers laid for twelve at the bride's table
centered with a miniature bride and
groom, and decorated with roses ar
ranged attractively. During the eve-
ning, the Ontario orchestra furnish-
ed music for dancing.

Rites will be held tomorrow
afternoon st 4 o'clock from the
late residence for Dr. Clarence A.
Warner, who was found dead in
his home at 374 Adam street early
last evening. He was found lying
on the bed in his room, a high
powered rifle beside the body.
Dr. H. C Fairbanks, was called
and announced that death occurred
several hours before the body
was discovered.
Dr. Warner had been in poor
health for several years and cancelled

all engagements yesterday.
During his prolonged illness, he
had been in almost constant
pain, it was stated today.
He and members Of his family had
been staying at their summer
home on East River road, Grand
Island, and no one waa at the
Adam street address when death
came to the popular dentist.
Dr. Warner was born in Strykersville,
N. Y. Upon his graduation
from the University of Buffalo
33 years ago he came to Tonawanda
to practice, locating in the
Litzenberg block on Niagara street
where his offices were located at
the time of his death.
One of the most distinguished
and best liked citizens of the Tonawandas,
Dr. Warner was active
in all types of civic and welfare
organizations, during his long residence
here.
He was a former president of
the Tonawanda Board of Education,
from which he resigned a
year ago because of poor health.
He was a member of the Rotary
club of which he was a past presided.
He was also a member of
Tonawanda Lodge, No. 247, F. &
A. M., the Buffalo Consistory, Ismailia
Temple, the Niagara Hose
Company, the Eighth District Dental
Society, the American Dental
Association and the Dental Society
of the State of New York.
His Survivors,
Dr. Warner is survived by his
wife, Lulu M.; two daughters,
Jane and Virginia; a son, Elwyn,
and a brother, M. C; Warner, Buffalo.
Rev. Clarence A. Hanna of the
First Church of Christ will conduct
the services.

Henry J. Balling Sr., founder
of Balling Bros, construction
company, which built many
schools and churches in the Buffalo
Catholic Diocese, died last
night at DeGraff Memorial Hospital.
He was 67 years old.
The first aid squad of the
North Tonawanda Fire Department
was called at 6:45 p.m. to
Mr. Balling's home at 59 Whiting
St., North Tonawanda,
where he was stricken. Oxygen
was administered and he was
taken to DeGraff, where he died
about four hours later.
A relative said Mr. Balling
had worked as usual yesterday
and did not complain about any
ailments until he was stricken.
Death was attributed to a ruptured
artery.
A native of the City of Tonawanda,
Mr. Balling founded the
construction concern at 454
Young St., Tonawanda, in the
1930s. The concern employed as
many as 60 employes during
peak construction periods

Mr. and Mrs. John Moll on Saturday
aftenoon, June 5, at 4
o'clock in St. John's Evangelical
Lutheran church, the Rev. Walter
Thiemeke performing the
ceremony, before a large assemblage
of relatives and friends,
using the double ring ceremony.
The church was beautifully decorated
with cut flowers and
palms, and the wedding march
from Lohengrin was played by
August B. Heubner, organist of
the church.
The bride wore a gown of
w h i t e s i l k marquisette made on
princess lines with cap sleeves
and a Peter Pan collar. Her long
veil of tulle was arranged in
crown effect with orange blossoms,
and she carried an old
fashioned bouquet of white sweetheart
roses, lilies and smilax.
Mrs. Norman Andrees who was
matron of honor, was attired in
blue net over satin, also with
puffed sleeves and Peter Pan
collar. She wore a headdress
fashioned of pink roses, sweetpeas
and lilies of the valley, and
carried an old fashioned bouquet
of pink roses, blue bells and baby
breath. The little flower girls
were Virginia Andrees, and Shirley
Moll, wearing frocks of pink
georgette and carrying baskets of
flowers tied with pink ribbon.
The bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy
Hildebrandt, wearing yellow
net over satin and Miss Arlene
Maerten in green net over
satin, made like the gown worn
by the matron of honor and
wearing a similar headdress. Both
also carried old fashioned bouquets.

The groom was attended by
his brother, Raymond Moll, and
the ushers, were Edward Andrees
and Lester Wurl. Mrs.
Thiemecke sang "O, Promise Me"
before the ceremony, also a vocal
solo at the conclusion.
The bride's mother wore an
orchid flowered gown and the
groom's mother, navy blue. Each
wore a corsage of pink roses,
sweet peas and baby breath.
Following the ceremony a reception
for 75 guests was given
at the home of the bride.

Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett
Tears, of Benton, N. Y., when their
daughter, Ethel May was united in
marriage to Mr. Fred World of
North Tonawanda. The decorations
were in the season's flowers and the
'ceremony was performed before a
bank of ferns and palms, by the Reverend
H. G. Andrews, pastor of the
Methodist Episcopal Church. About
seventy-five guests were present. The
bride was gowned in white crepe
voile with shadow lace and pearl
trimming and carried a shower bouquet
of Bride roses. Miss Mabel
Tears, cousin of the brwe who was
maid-of-honor wore a gown of yellow
brocaded silk and carried an

Mrs. Gertrude J. Batt. 68 years old,
died suddenly yesterday afternoon at
her home, 268 Summit avenue, Buffalo.
Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy.
Mrs, Batt was in good health up to
the time she was stricken.
She was the mother of Mrs. J. Nuwer,
Mrs. H. R. Hankin and Miss Adelaide
Batt of Buffalo, Mrs. James V.
Misner. Norbert and Raymond Batt of
North Tonawanda, and 11 grandchildren;
sister of Sister DePazzi, Sister
Delphina and Sister Philomena of Buffalo;
Mathilda A. Daul and Eugene
Daul of North Tonawanda and George
Daul of Niagara Falls.
Mrs. Batt was born in Williamsville
and moved to the Tonawaudas in
1872. She resided here until three
years ago, when she moved to Buffalo.
The funeral will be hold from the
late residence Friday morning at
nine o'clock and from St. Mark's
church, Buffalo at 9:30. Burial will
be in Mt. Olivet. Mrs. Batt was the
wife of the late Michael Batt of North
Tonawanda.

DeGraff Memorial Hospital after
a long Illness. Born in Manchester.
England, Mrs. Brock had
lived here 50 years. She is survived

of Tonawanda; four sons,
Daniel, David and George, Tonawanda,
and Charles of Pacoima,
Calif; 17 grandchildren and three
greatgrandchildren, and a sister,
Mrs. Currie Case of Buffalo. Services
will be Saturday at 2 p.m.
in the Hamp Funeral Home, 37
Adam St. The Rev. E. J. Cook

Charles Robert Britton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Britton,

The bride's gown of chantilly ny-
lon lace, trimmer wit sequins,
was fashioned with a sabrina neck-
line and long sleeves. The full
skirt featured a lace panel in
front and back tiers of nylon tulle
ending in a chapel length train.
Her veil was caught to a queen's
cronw trimmed with sequins and
seed pearls. She carried an or-
chid and white carnations on a
prayer book.
The Misses Terry Wirth, Joan
Kwiencinski and Patricia and Bev-
erly Britton were bridal attend-
ants. They wore gowns of eyelet
embroidery over blue and tiny bllue
crown headpieces with veiling.
They carried mixed flowers in lace
umbrellas.
Gary Corkum, Jerome Eisenhau-
er, James Britton and Albert Zell-
ner attended the bridegroom.
The bride's mother chose an
aqua dress for her daughter's
wedding complemented with white
accessories. A navy blue dress
with white accessories was the
choice of the bridegroom's moth-
er. The bride's grandmother, Mrs..
Mary Mollnow, wore a white cot-
ton lace dress with orchid trim
and her other grandmother, Mrs..
Anthony Zellner, selected a print
dress. All the ladies wore orchid
corsages.
A breakfast in Warren's Lounge
feted the bridal couple.
A reception in American Legion
Hall for 250 guests included friends
from Ohio, Pa., Buffalo, Cheekto-
waga, Niagara Falls, and Roches-
ter.
The couple is at home in 144
Monroe St., Warren, Ohio, after a
trip to the New England States
and New York City.

The bride wore a blue traveling
suit, white hat and carried white
rosea Miss Eva Hall was maid of
honor and wore a white suit, white
hat and carried pink carnations. Mr.
Frank World was best man. The ushers
were Messrs. Fred Stickney and
Fred World and the flower bearers
were Iris Stickney and Master George
World . After the ceremony luncheon
was served to the relatives and
friends at the home of the bride. Mr.
and Mrs. World will reside in Payne
avenue.

Batt of 346 Goundry street, the
Rev. John A. Weismantel officiating.
The bride, given in .marriage
by her father, wore a gown of.
white marquisette, with short
puffed sleeves, high neckline and
full skirt, her veil of illusion, arranged
with a halo of gardenias,
falling into a long train. She
carried a shower bouquet of white
roses and gardenias tied with
white satin ribbon. Miss Regina
Batt, sister of the groom, a maid
of honor, wore a gown of pink
mousseline de sois, with silver
slippers and a headdress of roses
and baby breath. She carried a
bouquet of roses and baby breath
tied with pink ribbon.
Elmer Harmon, brother of the
bride, was best man. The bride's
mother, Mrs. Frank Harmon, wore
navy blue crepe with white accessories.
Mrs. Norbert Batt also
.chose navy blue over-flowered
crepe. Both wore corsages.
Following the ceremony a dinner
was served at Tenbrook's.
The bride's going away costume
was a white silk suit.
Mr. and Mrs. Batt have left for
a wedding trip to the New England
states, and upon their return
will reside In 346 Goundry
street.
