Braun of Silver Creek; three sons, Arthur C. and I. Warren of Tona- wanda, and Edgar H. of Kenmore; a sister, Mrs. Hulda Selover of Tonawanda; nine grand and several great-grandchildren. She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today in the Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda. The Rev. Warren Ackerman of 175 Keil street, was solemnized Tuesday afternoon, June 8, at 4 o'clock in Salem Evangelical church, the Rev. Walter F. Hetzel officiating, assisted by the Rev. Clarence Braun, Buffalo, brother-in-law of the groom. The ceremony took pla'ce beneath a bridal arch banked with snowballs and the church was beautifully decorated with red and white peonies, snowballs and bridal wreath. Tall white candles burned at the altar. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of embroidered net over white satin, made with a long train, long sleeves with points at the wrists, calla lily collar, and a veil of illusion which hung gracefuflly from a halo of pearl beads and orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses and gypsophila with large bows of white satin ribbon. Mrs. Earle Roggow was matron of honor, wearing a gown of yellow taffeta, with godets forming a full skirt, a Queen Elizabeth collar, Short shirred sleeves, long lace gloves and sandals to match her gown. She wore a hat of yellow maline and taffeta, and carried a bouquet of yellow roses and gypsophila tied with yellow ribbon. Mrs. Isadore Sutter acted as bridesmaid, wearing a gown of Nile green, made on princess lines with low neck, and short puffed sleeves. She wore long lace gloves, sandals to match her gown and hat of Nile green maline and taffeta. Her bouquet was of yellow roses and gypsophila tied with green ribbon. Little Patricia Ann Lawrence of Charleston, W. Va., was flower girl, wearing a long gown of peach taffeta trimmed in aquamarine, slippers and socks of peach color, a halo of aquamarine flowers. Carrying a basket of shasta daisies and roses she preceded the bride scattering rose petals in her path. The bride's mother wore beige Elizabeth crepe with matching accessories, and the groom's mother powder blue lace, with white accessories. Each wore a corsage of sweet peas and roses. The groom was attended by Mr. Earle Roggow and Mr. Isadore Sutter. Mr. Fred Shultz and Mr. Arthur Ackerman acted as ushers. Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Ella Woodworth sang "I Love You Truly," and "O Promise Me," during the ceremony, with Miss Carrie Oswald at the organ. A wedding supper for 200 guests at the Elks' Temple followed the ceremony. The decorations were in pink and white, and the bride's table, with covers for 20 was centered with a three tiered wedding cake adorned with a miniature bride and groom. Mr. and Mrs. Ackerman have left for a Canadian trip and will be at home after June 15 in 41 King street. W. J. Thiemecke, officiating. The church was decorated with palms and baskets of peonies, and an archway over the front pews, was beautifully decorated with roses and beauty bush. Mrs. Thiemecke sang, "We at Thine Altar Stand," by DeKoven and "Wedding Hymn," by N. J. Hong with August Huebner at the organ. The bride wore a white satin gown, fashioned with a lace yoke and the fitted bodice was trimmed with tiny white satin buttons. The sleeves were long, extending to a point at the wrist, and the skirt flowed into a long train. Her long tulle veil fell from a halo of pearls and she carried a shower bouquet of bridal roses. The maid of honor. Miss Pearl Durow, of Niagara Falls, cousin of the bride, wore a peach colored chiffon dress, made with a shirred bodice. She wore blue flowers in her hair and carried a bouquet of delphinium and talisman roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Beatrice Stenzel, cousin of the bride and Miss Margaret Durow of Niagara Falls, also a cousin of the °ride. They wore blue chiffon dreSsea, with peach colored flowers In their hair and carried bouquets of talisman roses and delphinium. Joyce Millville, niece of the bride was flower girl, and wore a long pink taffeta dress and carried a basket of sweet peas. Howard Strassburg, cousin of the groom wtis ring bearer and wore a white satin suit. Robert Eichorn, of Buffalo, was1 best man. The ushers were Norman and Carl Goerss. brothers of the bride and Frederick and Arthur Witkop, cousins of the groom. The mother of the bride was attired in a blue printed crepe dress, and the groom's mother a black lace gown with bolero. Each wore a corsage of roses and sweet peas. Following the ceremony, a dinner and reception for seventy-five guests was held in the Holy Ghost school hall, Bergholtz. The hall and tables were decorated in a color scheme of yellow and white. The bride's table, with covers laid for sixteen, was centered mith a wedding cake. Mr. and Mrs. Witkop left for a motor trip to Michigan. 21245 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 6/15/1970 Two young North Tonawanda men were killed early today when their car went out of control on Walck Road, near Erie Avenue, in North Tonawanda and slammed into a building at National Grinding Wheel Division of Federal-Mogul Corp Pronounced dead at the scene were: Michael Zellner, 23, of 1005 Erie Ave., driver of the car. James Kohles, 22. of 156 Hagen Ave , a passenger. ° *4orth Tonawanda police said the car, a 1961 convertible, was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed on Walck Road and went out of control as (Another Photo, Page 9) it crossed the railroad tracks near the plant of Durez Plastics Division. Hooker Chemical Corp. After skidding sideways for about 285 feet, the car slammed into the office building of National Grinding Wheel, striking the lower half of the building that houses the plant cafeteria. Police said the force of the impact was so great that the wheel of the auto left its impression on the wall. Inside the cafeteria, bottles were broken when jarred from shelves and a wall separating the kitchen from the lunch room was severely cracked. The accident was discovered about 3:20 a.m. by a plant guard who noticed broken windows in the cafeteria while on routine patrol He notified police about the windows and said it looked like an attempted burglary. Dr. Albert Montani, a Niagara County coroner, pronounced both men dead at the scene. He ordered autopsies performed on both bodies. Mr. Zellner was seriously injured about a year ago in a motorcycle accident on Erie Avenue, near Sherwood Avenue, when the handlebars of the motorcycle he was driving broke and the cycle went out of control. An Army veteran of the Vietnam war, Mr. Kohles was wounded in action in 1967. He was retired from the Army as a disabled veteran after more than 20 operations to correct a shattered leg suffered in the war. She is survived by her husband, Norman D. Brosius; her mother, Mrs. Maud Watier of North Tonawanda; a son, D e W i t t ( R a n d a ) Newcomer of Kansas City, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Sandra) Bainbridge of Amherst, N.Y., and Mrs. Larry (Linda) Slorf of Denver, Colo.; a step-son, Norman (Karla) Brosius Jr., of North Tonawanda; three brothers, Peter, Stanley and Edward Watier, all of Lockport and ten grandchildren. There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. M a t t h e w L u t h e r an Church, 875 Eggert Dr., North Tonawanda by the Rev. A. W. Moldenhauer. Mrs. Wythe was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ and was a graduate of Children's Hospital Nursing School and a member of its alumna society. 21250 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 6/16/1969 Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday for Johhn V. Bedell. 58, a Tonawanda restaurant operator who died yesterday after apparently suffering a heart attack. The Tonawanda Fire Departments first aid squad was called early yesterday to Mr. Bedell's home at 129 Clinton St. and administered oxygen to him before he was taken to DeGraff Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Mr. Bedell was president of Bedell's Candlelight Lounge and Restaurant Inc., 83 Niagara St. He and his brother, Ossian. operated the Candlelight Restaurant and Bedell's Coffee Shop, 13 Main St. for about 15 years up until thr.ee years ago when John Bedell took over the restaurant and Ossian Bedell assumed control of the coffee shop operation. Born in Buffalo, Mr. Bedell had resided in Tonawanda for 50 years. A 1931 graduate of Tonawanda High School, he managed and owned several restaurants in Tonawanda before opening the Main Street coffee shop in 1946. Mr. Bedell was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Twin City Council 413, Knights of Columbus; National and Western New York Restaurant Association. Tonawandas Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club; Eldredge Club; Elks Lodge 860; Niagara Hose Company and Tonawanda Exempt Volunteer Firemen's Association. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Kohl Bedell; a daughter. Mrs Richard Gunkel of Carson City. Nev.; two sons. John V. Jr. and Daniel E. of Tonawanda; a sister, Mrs. George Leverenz of Wilmington. Del.: another brother, Robert of Williamsville. and nine grandchildren. Prayers will be said at 9 am Wednesday at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Morgan and William Streets.
