The altar of St. Gerard's Church, Buffalo, decorated
with baskets of white gladioli, was the setting for the wed-
ding of Miss Shirley Edith Bennett, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Norman 0. Bennett of 27 Leonhardt St., and Robert
John Schroeder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Schroeder,
266 Olympic Ave., Buffalo. The Rev. Joseph J. Garin performed
the 10 a.m. Nuptial Mass July 17.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride wore a ballerina
length gown of white tulle and
Chantilly lace with a fitted bodice
and bouffant skirt. Her fingertip
veil was caught to a coronet of
seed pearls and she carried a
prayer book covered with a spray
of white carnations and stephanotis.
The maid of honor, Miss Marie
Schroeder, and the bridesmaid,
Miss Violet Bennett, were dressed
in matching ballerina gowns of
Nile green and yellow organdy
over taffeta with wide-brimmed
straw hats. They carried baskets
of white and yellow Shasta daisies.
Donald Hart man attended the
bridegroom as the best man and
brothers of the bride, Norman and
Donald Bennett, were ushers.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Bennett selected a dress of
grey lace over dusty pink taffeta
with white accessories and a
corsage of white carnations- The
bridegroom's mother c h o s e an
all aquamarine nylon taffeta and also
wore white accessories and a cor-
sage of white carnations.
After the ceremony, a wedding
breakfast for 50 guests was served
in the home of the bridegroom.
Later in the day the bridal party
attended a wedding dinner in the
Elks Club and then went to the
bride's home where en outdoor
reception was given for 100 guests
including Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Scheu and family of Chicago, Ill.,
and Mrs. Constance Corey and
Mrs. Madeline Robinson of Detroit,
Mich.
For traveling, the bride wore a
dove-grey suit with red accessories.
The couple now is honeymooning
through the Midwest and
will be at home at 402 Witmer
Rd. after Aug. 30.

Mrs. Carmella Battaglia, 53,
of 240 Liston St., Town of Tonawanda,
a former teacher, died
of cancer Tuesday at Buffalo
General Hospital.
Mrs. Battaglia ended her
teaching career in January at
Amherst Central Junior High
School, where she taught a unified
(English, history, reading
combination) Grade 8 class. She
taught there 13 years.
Mrs. Battaglia p r e v i o u s ly
taught for 12 years in the Buffalo
public school system and
began her grade teaching in a
one-room school at Clarence.
A graduate of the State University
College at Buffalo, she
did postgraduate work in education
at Duke University, "New
York University and the State
University at Buffalo. She was a
member of the New York State
Teachers Association.
Born in Buffalo, she was the
former Carmella Corritore.
Survivors Include her husband,
Charles J. Battaglia; two daughters,
Mrs. Joseph Siracuse and
Miss Eleanor Battaglia; a son,
Charles Battaglia Jr., and five
grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 8:30
a.m. Friday at the Greco Funeral
Home, Town of Tonawanda, followed
by a Requiem Mass at 9
at St. John the Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery.

Bodkin, a composing room
foreman at the Buffalo Evening
News, got his start in the newspaper
field in 1951 when he joined the
News as a copy aide.
Bodkin, a native of Hornell. was
a graduate of Kenmore West High
School
He was a member of St. Mark's
Lutheran Church, 576 Delaware
Road, Kenmore
He is survived by his wife, Sally;
two sons, Mark and William J ; a
daughter. Dawn; his parents,
William R and Gwendolyn Bodkin

after a prolonged illness. He was
born in Oswego and had resided
in Tonawanda the past 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie, nee
Heald; a son, Ernest of Tonawanda;
a daughter, Mrs. Goehry; six
grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren. Rites will be held
Wednesday morning at 8:30 from
the Hsmp Funeral Home, 37 Adam
street, and at 9 o'clock from
the St. Francis church. The Rt.
Rev. Msgr. John A. Weismantel
will officiate. Burial will be in
Mt. Olivet.

August Unferdross, forty - three
years old, of 98 Mi l l e r street died
yesterday at a Buffalo hospital. His
death was caused by pneumonia
Unferdross came to America from
Germany with his parents when a
boy and lived in the Tonawandas the
remainder of his life. He is survived
by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. William
Unferdross; two brothers, Karl and
Gustav Unferdross, and one sister,
Mrs. William Ribbeck, all of North
Tonawanda. The funeral will be
held tomorrow afternoon from Ihe
late home at 2 o'clock. Rev. E, A.
Sehhtts of Frieden's Church will of
ficiate and burial will be in t h e City
cemetery. Unferdross was a member
of Tonawandas Aerie, No. 1411.

Mrs Alhertlna Westphal 51 years
old, of 19 Washington street died lat
evening at the DeGraff Memorial
hospital where she underwent an op-
eratioon a few hours beffore her death.
She was born in St. Johnsburg, but
had llived in North Tonawanda the
greater part of her life.. She was a
member of the Ladies Aid Society of
St. Mark's church on Washington
street. Besides her husband, William
Westphal, she is survived by four
daughters, Mrs Gustave Lemke ad
the Misses Lucy, Matilda and Emma
Westphal,, all of North Tonawanda.
Other survivors are her mother,
Mrs. Louisa Stange of St. Johnsburg;
four sisters, Mrs. William Oswald and
Mrs.. Gustav Broeker of North Tona-
wanda, Mrs. Ernest Oswald of Berg-
hotz and Mrs. John Werth of St.
Johnsburg and three brothers, Char-
les and William Stange of St. Johns-
burg and August Stange of North Ton-
awanda. The funeral will be held
Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
late residence and 2:30 o'clock at St.
Mark's church. Rev. Paul Frettholt
officiating. Burial will be at St.
Johnsburg.

MRS. ANNA F. KRACHEEL
Mrs. Anna F. Kracheel, 72 years old, a resident of the Shawnee road for the past 47 years, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chester Dexheimer, 1042 Falls boulevard. Mrs. Kracheel was injured eight years ago when an automobile struck a buggy in which she and her husband were riding. Injuries sustained by the woman at that time are believed to have led to her death. She leaves a husband, Otto A.; a daughter, Mrs. Dexheimer; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bach and Mrs. Antonnette Lueders, North Tonawanda. Rites will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence and at 2:30 o'clock from the St. Paul's church, Rev. F. A. Hinners officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery.

of Christ, Disciple, Grove St., Miss Harriette Grace Rech,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Grover Rech was married to
Ludomir Thaddeus Lazarz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jan Lazarz
of Elmhurst, Long Island.
The double ring ceremony was
performed at 4 p.m. by the Rev.
Norman g. Crawford in a setting
of baby chrysanthemums, snap-
dragons, gladioli, palms and
lighted candelabra tapers. lighted
tapers were placed along each side
of the church, choir loft an dbaptis-
try.
Miss Grace Myers, Soloist, sand
"Through the Years," "Whither
Thou Goest." and "My Prayer."
She was accompanied by Mrs. ar-
chie Waite at the organ.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore an ankle-length
gown of immported Italian rosepoint
lace over a white satin hoop skirt,
a skirt of blue taffeta, a skirt of
heavy net and another skirt of ac-
cordion pleated net. Lace was
hand-appliqued on the skirt of the
gown. Her fingertip veil of illusion
was caught to a headpiece of
orange blossoms and seed pearls..
She carried a cascade of white car-
nations and baby breath.
Mrs. Curtis E. owens, the
bride's ister, was the matron of
honor. She wore a full-skirted, bal-
lerina length gown of pale blue or-
ganza with a matching headpiece,
mitts and slippers. She carried a
cascade of pink carnations and
baby breath.
Miss Jennie Grace Owens, niece
of the bride, as flower girl wore a
frock of white and pale blue nylon
and a headpiece of lilies-of-the-val-
ley. Jennie carried a colonial bou-
quet of white and pink carnations.
Jan Lazarz, attended his son as
best man. Ushers were Jack W.
Rech, the bride's brother, and
Curtis E. Owens, her brother-in
law.
The bride's mother selected a
beige dress of silk organza with
white accessories. The bride-
groom's mother wore a navy blue
silk dress with white accessorie.s
Orchid corsages completed their
costumes.
A reception was given in the
church parlor. Out of town guests
were present from Elmhurst, Long
Island, Williston, Long Island.,
Syracuse and Chicago,, Ill..
For travel, the bride wore a
beige linen suit with matching ac-
cessories. The couple honeymooned
in Montreal, Quebec and the Thou-
sand Islands. they expect to be in
their new home, 184 Utica St., by
July 14.
Prenuptial parties for the bride
were given by Mrs. Albert P.
Hardleben, Mrs. Curtis E. Owens,
Mrs. William Litz and girls from
Linde Air Products Co. Mr. and
Mrs. Grover Rech entertained aft-
er the rehearsal.

William T. Andrews, 79 years
old, one of the better known farmers
in the Town of Pendleton
residing on Beach Ridge road,
Beach Ridge, dropped dead yes
terday afternoon while delivering
eggs to a customer on Schenck
street.
Mr. Andrews was a life-long
resident of Pendleton and a charter
member of Pendleton Grange,
No. 1307. For many years he had
made deliveries of eggs and other
produce in the Tonawandas and
was well known here.
He leaves two sons, Elmer W.
and Forest: a daughter, Mrs. William
D. Miller, three grandchildren,
two great-grandchildren, all of
Pendleton, and four brothers, Bert
and Joseph, Pendleton, John, Buffalo
and Charles, Lockport
Rites will be neld Monday afternoon
at 2:30 o'clock, daylight
saving time, from the residence.
Burial will be in Bear Ridge cemetery.

chose a long pink marquisette
gown, trimmed with blue velvet
ribbon and wore pink flowers in
her hair. Her bouquet was of
pink roses and sweet peas.
The bridesmaids were Miss Flor-
ence Andalora, sister of the bride,
and Miss Florence Marcy, cousin
of the bride. The former wore
a long peach marquisette gown
with matching quilted bolero,
peach flowers in her hair and her
bouquet was of red roses and
sweet peas.
Miss Marcy chose a blue mar-
quisette gown trimmed with pink
ribbon, wore matching flowers in
her hair. She carried a mixes
bouquet of sweet peas and roses.
Mr. Frank Fix of East Amherst
attended the groom as best man.

She was the mother of William C

F. (Barbara) Barrett. Surviving are
eight grandchildren and four great
grand children; one brother,
Edward Hartless; three aunts and
many nieces and nephews.
