For her wedding Mmie Hanrot chose a lovely gown of white crepe, fashioned with, fitted bodice long tapering sleeves and a full skirt with chapel length train. Her three-quarter length veil ef illusion fell from a tiara of illusion and the carried a spray of white roses and white gladioli. Attending her as maid of honor was the bridegroom's titter Mist Cora Brenon oi Detroit, who wore a gown of orcH!d-pink satin. She carried a spray of red roses and white gladioli. Robert H. Brenon and Wilbert A. Brenon, Jt., brothers of the bridegroom, attended as best man and usher. Mrs. Brenon selected a flowered silk jersey with white accessories and wore a corsage of yellow roses The wedding breakfast for the bridal party was given in the Brenon Home in Utica street at a table covered with a linen cloth and centered with a tiered wedding cake. Garden flowers decorated the home. Msgr. Weismantel was a guest at the breakfast. A reception was held in the eve* ning. Guests were present from Detroit, Fredoria and Buffalo. 21413 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 8/15/1938 Frank E. Stahl Jr., well known resident of Tonawanda, died suddenly last night at his home, 39 Hill place. He had been in poor health. Mr, Stahl attained prominence in the industrial field as works manager, formerly plant manager for the Columbus-McKmnon Chain company, with factories in Tonawanda, Columbus, 0 St. Catherines, Ont and South Africa. He became associated with the company 25 years ago at the local factory. The greater part of the time he was employed by the company he held responsible cositions, Mr, Stahl became conspicuous as an inventor of patents that helped to place the Columbus McKinnon Chain company in the front rank of producers of all kinds of chains. When the company decided to locate a plant in South Africa in 1935, Mr. Stahl took charge and travelled to the dark continent by plane and steamship on several occasions. It was at the opening of operations in South Africa that Mr. Stahl, who had been appointed a member of the Tonawanda Board of Education by Mayor Christ S. Warren in May of 1934, found it necessary to resign. Attorney Clark B. Bassett was appointed to succeed him. Mr, Stahl was a member of Levant Lodge, F. & A. M., Buff alo, the Eldredge Bicycle club and the American Society, Mechanical Engineers. Born in the town of Amherst, Mr. Stahl came to Tonawanda in his early manhood and had resided here since. He leaves a wife, Lily; a son, Harold; a daughter, Mrs. Edward Smith; parents, Mr, and Mrs. Frank E. He and his family left this city about a year ago. Deceased is survived by his wife. Minnie, a son, Walter and two daughters, Elsie and Edna, all of Lockport. Otto Gottschalk, world war veteran killed in France, was a son of the deceased and made his home in North Tonawanda at 302 Niagara street at the time he left for France. His body was received at Lockport by his parents about a month ago from France. The father then was too ill to attend the funeral services for his hero son. Funeral services for the father will be held tomorrow at 2 p. m. at the bite residence, followed by burial at Cold Springs cemetery, with the Rev. Meyers of Lockport officiating. Zuhr, 54, of 27 Catherine street, an employe of the Van Raalte Silk Mills on Sweeney street for the past 29 years, was found dead in his place ef employment a few minutes after he began work at 7 o'clock this morning. Coroner J. E. Helwig investigated and expressed the opinion that Mr. Zuhr succumbed to a heart ailment, from wnich he had long been a sufferer. Found by fellow employes in the knitting department, Dr. Alvin J. Schweitzer was summoned immediately. He pronounced Mr. Zuhr dead and Dr. Helwig was notified. Mr. Zuhr was a life-long resident of Tonawanda, a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church and the Niagara Hose company. He is survived by his wife, Ida Pauline, nee Wein; two sons, Wilson and Kenneth; a granddaughter, Karen, all of Tonawanda; and two brothers, Herman and Frank Zuhr of Lead, S. D. The Rev. M. L. Baseler performed the ceremony before an altar graced with white gladioli, chrysanthemums and pompons and four seven-branch candelabra entwined with lemon leaves, The bride's gown of white embroidered silk organza over taffeta was designed with a scoop neckline, short sleeves and a full skirt. A large bow accented the skirt back which fell into a chapel length train. A pearl trimmed crown held her bouffant veil of silk illusion and she carried a cascade of phalaenopsis orchids arranged with ivy. Miss Sallie Bach was maid of honor for her sister. The Misses Barbara Schultz and Betsy Cook, the bride's cousin, were bridesmaids and Jacqueline Tremble and Pamela Ensminger, t he bride's niece, were junior bridesmaids. They w o r e Nile green silk organza gowns made with scoop necklines, three-quarter sleeves and taffeta cummerbunds. Taffeta applique accented the bodices and street length skirts. Miss Bach carried a cascade bouquet of yellow roses and white carnations with ivy. The bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids carried yellow roses and carnations. The flower girls, Valerie and Debra I^ehman, the bridegroom's nieces, wore white organdy over taffeta dresses with Nile green taffeta sashes and carried cascade bouquets of yellow sweetheart roses and carnations Roger Lehman was his brother's best man. Thomas Kuczkowski and David Bach, the bride's brother, were ushers. The bride's mother wore a two piece powder blue silk shantung dress and a corsage of pink sweetheart roses with blue accents. Mrs. Brace, born in the Town of Wilson m 1858 to pioneer farm parents, was one of nine children. Her father alternated farm duties with teaching and insisted fine educations for his children. The young Eva followed his example and became a teacher, assuming her first position in the high school at Williamsport. Pa. She was married to Jason Brace and they returned to Wilson where their daughter, Elsa was born. When they had been married three years, Mr Brace died and Mrs. Brace returned to her leaching vocation. 21449 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 8/20/1954 NEWFANE, Aug. 20 - Josephine H. Sahr, Dale Rd., died yesterday at Buffalo following an illness of several months. Mrs. Sahr was born at Lockport, a daughter of the late Mary O'- Hara and Robert Wallace. She was a member of Ridgewood Lutheran Church and the Newfane American Legion Auxiliary. Besides her husband, George G. Sahr, she is survived by one son and two daughters, Robert E. Bates, Newfane; Mrs. Harry Whalen, Lockport and Miss Marie Sahr, Buffalo; eight grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, William and Earl Wallace and Mrs. Webster Billings, all of Lockport. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the home and at 2:30 at the Ridgewood Lutheran Church with the Rev. Edward Kolbe, pastor, officiating.
