Escorted and given in marriage' by her father, the bride wore a; gown of rose point Chantitty lace fashioned with a scalloped V-neckline, long fitted sleeves and a, torso basque, re-embroidered with; iridescent sequins and pearls. The bouffant skirt had a lace panel at I the front and a waterfall back of matching lace and tulle tiers fell' into a cathedral length train over; satin. Her veil of French illusion; was caught to a coronet of orange' blossoms and petal leaves of pearl and tulle. She carried a cascade bouquet of white Shasta pompons and ivy leaves centered with a white orchid. Mrs. Parke Smith, matron *of honor for her sister, wore a floor length strapless dress of white embroidered tulle over turquoise taffeta with a turquoise bow on the bodice falling in streamers to the hemline. The bouffant skirt was flounced at the hemline and the dress was worn with a matching jacket. He headpiece of matching turquoise horsehair was studded with rhinestones. She carried yellow sweetheart roses and Shasta pompons in a cascade bouquet. Similarly dressed were the bridesmaids. Miss Diane Luther in white over orchid; Miss Diane Mueller, in white over blue and Miss Nancy Hoffmeister, in white over yellow. They carried cascades of honeygold sweetheart roses and shasta pompons with ivy leaves. Wearing white gowns over pink were the junior bridesmaids, the Misses Roberta Young, the bridegroom's sister, and Ann Dunn, the bride's niece. Their b o u q u e t s combined pink sweetheart roses, shasta pompons and ivy. The flower girl, Andrea L y nn Smith, wore a white frock over turquoise and carried a basket filled with yellow rose petals which she scattered in the aisle. A. Alden Allen of Elmira attend- ed his nephew as best man. ILstiers were John Boddecker, Gerald Johnson and Warren Grieg. The bride's mother wore a sheath of blue silk organza fashioned with a scoop neckline, three quarter length sleeves and a fitted bodice with an insert of illusion embroidered in a flower motif. A back panel in the skirt formed slight fullness. She wore a matching hat with matching blue organza circling the crown and caught at one side with a blue rose. Her corsage of deep pink rosebuds was fashioned to a, matching purse. The bridegroom's mother chose an aqua lace sheath dress with a, low V-back and high neckline at the front. Matching satin bands' formed a point on the bodice and extended to the hemline. A pink hat and pink accessories complemented the costume. Her purse' corsage was of pink rosebuds. A reception was given in the Nashville Fire Company Hall. White carnations encircled t he wedding cake at the bride's table. Mr. and Mrs. Young left for at a wedding trip to the Georgian Bay area, the bride wearing a light blue silk organza sleeveless dress with a square neckline banded in 'white lace and a matching redingote of the same material. Damon, 59, of 1184 Tonawanda St., Town of Tonawanda, proprietor of Gert's Superette, died at her home yesterday after a heart attack. Dr. Harry Taylor, an Erie County medical examiner, said the death was due to natural causes after a granddaughter found Mrs. Damon ill at home. A police first aid squad was called in an attempt to aid her. Born at Winter, Wis., she was the former Gertrude C. Wittkopf. She resided 11 years in the Town of Tonawanda and operated a grocery store in Tonawanda Street. Survivors include a son, Gerald C. Damon; a daughter, Mrs. John Schwartzkopf, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Thompson and Mrs. Harold Messier; a brother, John Wittkopf; five grand children and one great-grandchild. The telegram stated that Mr. Bubb was killed when a train struck the automobile, in which he was riding, at Sunnyvale, Califor nia. 21567 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 8/9/1965 Carl L. Wolgast, a lifelong resident of the Sweet Home area of Amherst and former Sweet Home School Board president, was electrocuted last night when he stepped on a fallen electric wire after a car had struck a power pole in the Town of Amherst. Mr. Wolgast, 38, of 2955 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, apparently tripped on the 4,800-volt line while examining the scene of the accident in Sweet Home Road near Tonawanda Creek Road. The three young occupants of the car, all Amherst residents, were shaken up but apparently escaped serious injury. Robert Guggernost, 19, the driver, Barbara Hughes, 18, and Jacqueline Reeves, 16, his passengers, were examined at Meyer Memorial Hospital. Amherst Police Lt. Donald G. Wright said Mr. Wolgast stepped past a police guard set up on the highway. "I saw him and yelled at him to watch it," Lt. Wright said. "At that moment he came in contact with the wire and went down." Mr. Wolgast was freed when a repair crew from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. cut the line. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Wolgast served on the Sweet Home Central School District Board of Education from 1959 to 1964, including two terms as president. A graduate of North Tonawanda Senior High School, he was active in many civic affairs and was one of the organizers of the Ellicott Creek Civic Association. Mr. Wolgast, an agent for Gold Star Realtors, was the husband of LaVerne Thomsen Wolgast; father of Lawrence, Suzanne, David, Linda and Randy Wolgast, and son of Alice Wehrung and the late Carl A. Military and contracting officials resumed today an in vest igation into the collapse of scaffolding and structural steel at the Lake Ontario ordnance plant which cost the lives of six workmen and critically injured two others. The sixth fatality, Rubin Clarvit, 23, 1591 Fulton street, New York City, was discovered in the debris last night after records showed him missing. Other victims were Louis C. Chavis, Jr., Virgil Fiorentini, Delbert E. Franklin and Thomas Pilato, all of Niagara Falls, N. Y, and Lawrence C. Bingham, Dunkirk, N. Y. The mishap yesterday occurred inside a water tank being erected by the Pre-load Company of Long Island City, according to Lieut William L. Nicholl, Jr., Army Public Relations Officer at the plant. Braun performed the ceremony in the chancel which was decorated with tall baskets of whise peonies, vases of white rosea and candelabra. Mies Dorothy Rudniek, soloist, sang "Because" before the ceremony and "The Lord's Prayer" during the ceremony. The organist was Mrs. Glen Warblow. The bride, who carried white orchid on a white prayer book, was attired in a white slipper satin gown with square neckline trimmed with a floral design of seed pearls and long pointed sleeves. The skirt extended into a long train. Her fingertip veil fell from a tiara of beads and seed pearls and she wore a single strand of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Jean Olskey, mald-of-honor, wore a com flower blue gown of dotted taffeta, with off-shoulder neckline and full gored skirt. She carried a colonial bouquet of peach colored roses and white sweetpeas. The bridesmaids were Miss Shirley Martin and Mrs. Howard Ensrninger. They wore similar gowns in peach colored taffeta and carried red roses and white sweet peas. Junior flower girls, the Misses Sallie and Barbara Bach, were attired in blue doited swiss gowns and carried colonial bouquets of sweet peas and roses. George Miiiczky attended as best man and the ushers John Hila and Joseph Milton. An aqua crepe and lace dress and a corsage of yellow roses were worn by the bride's mother who completed her ensemble with white accessories. The bridegroom's mother chose navy crepe, white accessories and a corsage of red roses. A reception, with 300 guests attending, was held in Ukranian Hall The table wag centered with a tiered wedding cake and vases of white and pink peonies. She was born in Cheektowaga. For the past 60 years she had been a resident of Tonawanda. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary societies of the St. Francis church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joseph LaTour, Tonawanda. and Sister Mary Magdalen, Lowell, Mass.; four son?, Joseph, Martin. Frank and John Netter; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Rathgeber and Miss Rose Batt, and five brothers, William, Frank, Edward and Charles Batt, all of the Tonawandas, and Casper Batt, Cleveland. 21598 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 9/13/1950 White gladioli, palms and an aisle of candles in St. Martin's Lutheran Church, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9, formed the background for the marriage of Miss Carol Berner. and Mr. Harold Gebhardt. Jr. Rev. Theophilus Ber- ner, father of the bride, officiated at a candlelight ceremony. The bride wore an organdy gown over taffeta with roll collar, deep v-neckline. long pointed sleeves and full skirt over a hoop forming a long train. Her veil of illusion, scalloped at the edges, was held with a crocheted crown. She carried a bouquet of white roses and pompons. Miss Phyllis Berner, bride's sister and maid-of-honor chose a gown of pink organdy over taffeta fashioned like that of the bride. She wore matching mitts and hat. Miss Jean Gebhardt, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Gloria Hyleman, bridal attendants, were attired in yellow and blue organdy gowns over taffeta. All carried bouquets of roses, pompons, larkspur and rubrum lilies. Sally Huber. flower girl for her aunt, wore white organdy over green, with mitts to match, and carried a basket of flowers. Mr. Clark Schoonover was beet man and the ushers were Mr. Dexter Rosokoff and Mr. Glenn , Newell. The bride's mother favored a navy blue dress and the bridegroom's mother chose a burgundy crepe dress. Both wore corsages of roses and pompom. During the ceremony, Mrs. Ada Prohaska, accompanied Mr. Eugene Thiele, who sang "Because" and "The Lord's Pray- er" After the reception which was held in the church parish hall, the couple left for a trip to the Adirondacks and New York City.
