Britting, son of Mrs. Ida Kortte. The Rev. Walter Hetzel officiated before an altar decorated with candelabra, palms, fern, and vases of white gladioli, pompoms and gypsophelia. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Silvia Hutt, organist, played appropriate music. Truman Schwarzenholz sang "Until" and "Hold Thou Our Hands, Dear Lord" during the ceremony. The bride waa gowned in white crepe, fashioned with a bateau neckline, long tight fitting sleeves and a bouffant skirt A long train fall from the tunic of the fitted bodice. Her fingertip veil of illusion was arranged with a headdress of orange blossoms. The bride carried white roses and gypsophelia, tied with white satin ribbon and wore a single strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. She was given in marriage by her father. Mrs. Fred Hilliard. aunt of the bride, as matron of honor, and Mrs. Harold Mongold, cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore matching gowns of aquamarine nylon. The gowns were styled with sweetheart necklines, threequarter length puffed sleeves and full skirt They wore matching headpieces and carried bouquets of pink gladioli and red roses tied with red ribbon. Each wore a strand of pearls, given them by the bride. Henry Novotny attended the bridegroom as best man, with David Morgan and Harold Kline as ushers. The bridegroom presented his attendants with lighters. A grey print dress with white accessories was worn by Mrs. Garlapo, the bride's mother, and Mrs. Kortte, selected a black and white print dress with black accessories. Each wore a corsage of red roses and white baby chrysanthemums. A reception for 100 guests was held in the home of the bride following the wedding where a buffet supper was served from a table centered with a tiered wedding cake. Mr. and Mrs. Britting left for a trip to New York City and New England, the bride wearing an aquamarine wool suit with black accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. Mr. Britton was at the game w watch his son pitch for the international League pennantwinning Braves in its opening bid for the Governor's Cup. Thorman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thorman of 223 East Felton street, was united in marriage to Herbert C. Behm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Behm of Sixteenth avenue, the Rev. T. H. Twente, officiating. The church was decorated with large vases of gladioli. Mrs. Glen Warblow,, organist, played the wedding march. Before the ceremony, Clarence Fischer sang, "At Dawning," and after the ceremony, "Because." The bride, who entered the church on the ar mof her father, was lovely in a white satin gown, fashioned in princess style with a long train, a long veil falling from a halo of starched lace and orange blossoms, with heart-shaped lace inserts forming the border of the veil. She wore white satin slippers and carried a shower bouquet of white roses and gypsophila. Miss Werth, Maid of Honor The maid of honor, Miss Virginia Werth, of Lockport, wore a pink net dress over pink satin, with a row of tiny blue velvet bows down the front, white slippers and a spray of pink flowers in her hair. She carried a bouquet o pink roses, delphinium and .baby's breath, tied ith pink ribbon.. The bridesmaid, Mrs. _ Evelyn Putnam, wore a yellow net dress over yellow satin, with a row of blue velvet bows down the front, a spray of yello flowers in her hair, white slippers and carried a bouquet of yellow roses, delphinium and baby's breath. Elton Behm, cousin of the groom, was best man. The ushers were: Kenneth Moeller and William Meyers. The bride's mother wore a flowered chiffon dress and the groom's mother navy blue crepe with lace bodice and sleeves. Each wore a corsage of roses. | 21874 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 9/7/1981 Funeral services are scheduled Tuesday for Louis A. Ziehl, a lifelong North Tonawanda resident who would have celebrated his 88th birthday today. Ziehl died Saturday at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after an apparent heart attack. A recipient of the Purple Heart in World War I, he was a past commander of the 78th Division, Veteran, Association of Western New York. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Ziehl operated Ziehl's Grocery and Hardware Store in the Martinsville area of North Tonawanda from 1919 to 1945, when he sold the business. Ziehl also was a 59-year member of American Legion Post 264 of Tonawanda and was a life member of Rescue Volunteer Fire Company No 5. Ziehl lived in his home until the day he was stricken. The husband of the late Margaret Waterstrat Ziehl, he is survived by a daughter. Marion Gau. He was the brother of Rose Wright of Grand Island, Mrs. Roman (Matilda) Beiter of Niagara Falls, Doris Hosmer of North Tonawanda, Mrs Carl (Clara) Schoelles of Wendelville, Mildred Ziehl of North Tonawanda, the late Ida Ensm- inger and the late Carl Ziehl. Ziehl also had five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
