He had been ill for some time but was removed to Lockport Thursday. He was a farmer. Surviving are eight children, August, Lillian, Julius, Matilda, Rudolph, Edward, Louise, Alvina and Alice; three sisters, Mrs. Louisa Bernhardt, Mrs. Charles Folger and Mrs. Florence Diehl, of the town of Wheatfield. 22258 | Oct. 6, 1931 – Dec. 7, 2017 Richard H. "Dick" Batt, of Venice, Fla., a retired Buffalo area realtor, died unexpectedly Dec. 7 in Venice Regional Bayfront Hospital. He was 86. Born in the Town of Tonawanda, Mr. Batt was a graduate of Tonawanda High School and served in the Army in the Korean War. Mr. Batt began his real estate career in the firm of Batt, Doring and Miller. In 1976, it became Realty World Realty One and grew to include 13 branch offices. He was past president of real estate boards in Buffalo, Tonawanda and Niagara Falls, and served as regional vice president and governor of the New York State Association of Realtors. Active in the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce in the Tonawandas, he also was a past president of the Tonawanda Lions Club. He moved to Venice in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, boating, dancing, playing cards, traveling and watching his daughter, Kristen Batt Rohr, play professional beach volleyball. He and his wife, the former Patricia Wrazin, would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on Dec. 29. Survivors also include two sons, Richard and Donald; two stepsons, David and Scott Muir; and 10 grandchildren. 22259 | October 1, 1930 - August 13, 2019 Donald J. Rosinski, Sr., age 88, of Niagara Falls, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born on October 1, 1930 in Lewiston, New York to the late Joseph A. and Frances (Dorywalska) Rosinski, Jr. He attended schools in Niagara Falls and shortly after graduation joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served his country during the Korean War. After returning home he married and had three children. He spent 40 years as a chemical operator at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, retiring in 1994. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Lewiston #2 Fire Company for many years. He married his second wife Sherry in 1978 and added four more daughters to his family. Donald loved gardening, was an avid bird enthusiast, enjoyed local car shows and roller skated until the age of 84. Donald is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sherry, 7 children: Deborah Jones (Brent) of Clearfield, PA, Teresa Rosinski of Youngstown, NY, Donald J. Rosinski, Jr. (late Diane) of Hinsdale, NY, Deborah Altman (Craig) of Tampa, FL, Peggy Caskey (Ken) of Peoria, AZ, Elizabeth Valentine (Carl) of Sanborn, NY and Mary Bragg (Mark) of Mesa, AZ, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She died on December 26, 2008 in Elkhart, IN. Surviving are two sons, Daniel Sprenger of Tennessee and Mark (Darvene) Sprenger of New Jersey; two daughters, Deborah (Melvin) Camburn of Michigan and Denise (Daniel) Balmer of Indiana. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one brother, Kenneth (Betty) Sprenger of North Tonawanda, NY. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Sprenger. Allen was a US Navy veteran serving in WWII. He was a member of the VFW and a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Goshen, IN. Allen enjoyed carving, woodworking and gardening. He was a baker employed by the state of New York. He retired in 1987 and moved to Goshen in 1988. Born in Niagara Falls on December 17, 1925, he was the son of Horace and Dorothy (Fix) Wolcott, Sr. Horace served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 in the 355th Infantry Division and the 89th Tank Division - "Rolling W". While serving, he earned the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, EAME Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star. Horace was a policeman for the City of Lockport for 27 years, retiring as Captain in 1980. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Lockport, a life-member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus #0754 4th Degree and 3rd Degree #319. Horace enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Wolcott, on January 29, 2005; and his daughter-in-law, Mary Wolcott. He graduated from North Tonawanda High School, then served two years with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked at National Grinding Wheel and Kaufmann's Department Store, and was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses in Tonawanda. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 27 years, Marianne E. Wrazin (nee Kelley); four sons, Terry, Thomas, Timothy Wrazin (Heather) and Corey Kelley (Lindsay). He was the brother of the late Eugene Wrazin (Virginia), Judy Ellman (Larry) and Dorothy Wrazin; along with four grandchildren, Michael Wrazin, Amanda Wrazin, Claire Wrazin and Nora Kelley. Harry was employed with the Federal government for over 40 years, working in the Department of Defense, and the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 2005. (Ciraolo) Marra, 76, of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Gallina) Ciraolo. Elaine was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. On November 30, 1957, she married Joseph R. "Peppy" Marra at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Marra predeceased her on August 31, 1995. Elaine worked for Dr. James Murphy and later for Dr. Salvatore LaTona for eight years. In 1996 she retired as a housekeeper from N.F. Memorial Medical Center after ten years of service. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting. Elaine was very close with her sisters and her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who were the "light of her life." Mrs. Marra is survived by four children, Joseph R. (Carole) Marra of Sanborn, NY; David V. Marra of Niagara Falls, NY; Sharon Marie Marra of Phoenix, AZ; Carolyn (John) Marra Herowski of Niagara Falls, NY, and was predeceased by one son, Michael Marra. Survivors also include two grandchildren, Joseph Rocco Marra IV and Jacob Matthew Marra; one sister, Mary (late Henry) Corsaro of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She liked spending time with her friends and family and taking walks. During her time as the Salvation Army League of Mercy Secretary, she visited and took gifts to people in local hospitals, nursing homes and institutions. It was Jane's volunteer work as a foster grandmother that she most thoroughly enjoyed and remembered fondly for the rest of her life. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa R.C. Church and the former St. Joseph's R.C. Church. She also enjoyed bowling and ceramics. She was the wife of the late Edward Selover. He is survived by his loving wife, Clarice B. He was an agent and a member of the board of Directors of the Bergholtz Insurance Co. He was an active member of the Buffalo Purchasing Agents Assn., a charter member of the Wheatfield Republican Club and a Republican Committeeman. He served as a volunteer on the Sanborn Ambulance Service for 15 years and was a member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. He served on the church council of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Walmore, NY. He entered the industrial sales field with FC Nichols Company during the Niagara Power Project, and later was employed with the KD Supply Company as Sales Manager of the Fluid Power Division. He moved to Minnesota with his family in 1973, where he worked for the Nott Company in industrial sales for three years. He went into business for himself as a Manufactures Representative in 1976. He retired in 2005. Alice attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore and was a 1943 graduate of LaSalle High School. She was employed at the former Bell Aircraft and later at the Carborundum Company - Bonded Abrasives division in Niagara Falls, until her retirement in 1983. Alice was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, where she was with the St. Peter's Quilters. She was also a member of the Ransomville Seniors and enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling. Survivors include her brother, Kenneth (Dianne) Retzlaff of Wheatfield; sister-in-law, Lois Retzlaff; eight nieces and nephews, Debra (Ted) Sheehan, Brian (Sandra) Retzlaff, Gary Retzlaff, Randy Retzlaff, Sandra (Steven) Lang, Carol (Leonard) Binns, David (Allison) Retzlaff and Dale (Lisa) Retzlaff; twenty great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Walck, on December 1, 1994. They were united in marriage on February 5, 1972. Also predeceased by a brother, Willis Retzlaff. She was born on December 6, 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late William and Matilda (Pettit) May. In 1943 she married William Robert "Bill" May. He predeceased her on November 23, 1953. On June 28, 1957, she married Charles Woolcutt. Dorothy graduated from Niagara Falls High School and worked for a time at Marine Midland Bank. In her leisure time, Dorothy enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening and shopping and loved hiking and picnicking with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed volunteering at Memorial Medical Center Gift Shop for 20 years. She will be remembered for her joke telling and her love of making people laugh. Dorothy is mourned by her devoted husband, Charles Woolcutt; daughter, Diane (James) Biniecki of Amherst; sons, Darryl (Pamela) May of Ransomville and Kenneth (Ruth) Woolcutt of Edwards, IL. Also bereaved are her six grandchildren, Margaret (Ron) Nowak, Susan (Steve) Moretti, Kevin (Cindy) May, Sabrina May, Jacob and Sarah Woolcutt. John was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 3, 1933 to Owen Kenneth Smith and Bernice Byrne Smith (both deceased). He was preceded in death by his sister, Marian Smith Beahen and his brother, C. She was born on May 20, 1921 in Niagara Falls, the daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Gwodze) Bank. Mrs. Adamczyk attended local schools. On July 24, 1944, she enlisted in the Women's Army Corp, Division of the United States Army, for whom she was a clerk-typist until her honorable discharge on September 4, 1945. She was employed as a press operator for 44 years at the Carborundum Company-Globar Division until her retirement in June of 1983. She was a member of the Carborundum 25-Year Club and a former member of the Holy Trinity Seniors. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and playing bingo. Mrs. Adamczyk's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all her caregivers for their loving care given over this past year. Joseph graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1935 and played semi-pro football in the Buffalo area, before serving in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he worked with his beloved brother, Louie and many of his brothers and nephews for over 40 years in their family owned house painting company in North Tonawanda, NY, which he dearly loved. Abraham Lincoln once said, "A person is about as happy as he wants to be," and Joe was one of the happiest people we've ever known. With an always sunny disposition and positive attitude, he brought joy and happiness to everyone he touched. He was greatly loved by his family, friends and all who knew him. Helen was born August 7, 1913, at home in Ridgeway, NY to Earl and Edith (Howlett) Loades. Four brothers preceded her, James, Ronald, Arnold and Milford. Helen married Walter W. Caldwell June 8, 1938, and lived most of her life in the Medina area. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Green and son-in-law to her, Hal Jaeke of Colorado Springs, CO; two granddaughters, Marni (Nathaniel) Kisergreen and Juli (Peter) Woodman Gould, also of Colorado Springs; great-grandchildren, Nina Woodman and Orion Kisergreen added great joy to her life. Grandson, Christopher Green passed away April 10, 1985. Following the death of her husband on January 29, 2000, Helen moved to Colorado Springs. Helen was a 78-year member of the Welcome Rebekah Lodge, 66-year member of the Medina Eastern Star, 61-year member of the Medina Methodist Church, 26-year member of the Sr. Citizens of Western Orleans, and a charter member of Ridgeway Volunteer Firemen Ladies Auxiliary. He was a 54-year member of Gratwick Hose, where he served as Financial Secretary, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. He belonged to the Niagara County Volunteer Fireman, the Niagara County Volunteer Chiefs, the Fireman's Association of the State of New York, the W.N.Y. Volunteer Fireman's Association and the North Tonawanda Volunteer Benevolent Association. Dick's working career spanned 43 years in the oil industry, starting at Canlake Petroleum, Ashland Oil and NOCO Energy Corp. He retired from NOCO in 1997 as a Service Manager. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, and baking cookies and enjoying them with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Greece and the Middle East. Mrs. Dugan is survived by her daughter, Gail (Lee) Gilpatrick of Mt. Born January 5, 1935 in Mount Forest, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of Allen and Margaret Lennox Morrison. Gerald married Susan Luskey on October 15, 1966 and they recently celebrated their 45th Anniversary. He attended Gasport Elementary School, Royalton-Hartland High School and graduated from Erie County Technical Institute in 1957 with a degree in mechanical technology. In 1980, he graduated from Pace University in Pleasantville, NY with a Degree in Business and received his Masters in Business in 1984 from University of New Haven, CT. He worked for Linde Air, division of Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) in North Tonawanda in heat transfer research. Gerald designed and supervised the construction of a large computer data center in Tarrytown, NY for UCC and moved to Yorktown, NY in 1972 to manage the data center, retiring in 1984. He served as Director of Information Systems for Metropolitan Transportation Authority in NYC from 1986 to 1991 and was an Information Systems Consultant from 1991 to 2003. His family was most important to him. He truly enjoyed his grandchildren, brothers and cousins. Gerald enjoyed sports and was a Bills and Sabres fan. He is survived by his wife, Susan M. Dawn was employed by Occidental Chemical Co. Niagara Falls, NY for 30 years where she was a Manager of Environmental Safety. She then worked as a Manager for Livingston International Corp. in Tonawanda for the past eight years. She enjoyed tending to her flower and rock gardens. Most of all she, loved her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Richard; a son, Richard Schimschack, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; a daughter, Nicole (Patrick) Krawczyk of Lewiston; her grandchildren, Cooper and Carter Krawczyk; two sisters, Faye Olds of Newfane and Jennifer (Dave) DePonceau of Lockport; two brothers, Leslie Olds of North Tonawanda and Drew (Kathy) Olds of Youngstown; a sister-in-law, Judy Olds of the Town of Cambria; and several nieces and nephews. 22299 | October 19, 2013 Doris Katherine Wendt Niagara Gazette TUCSON, AZ — Doris Katherine (Hooper) Wendt, 82, of San Tan Valley, AZ died on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Oro Valley Hospital, Tucson, AZ after a brief illness. Born on November 8, 1930 in Olcott, NY she was the daughter of Leland and Florence (Vogelman) Hooper. Doris was a lifelong resident of Bergholtz and Sanborn, NY who in later years wintered in Queen Creek, AZ. She moved to AZ in 2011. She married Robert Louis Smith of Niagara Falls, NY in June 1950. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on January 5, 1980. She married Robert John Wendt of Sanborn, NY in September 1986. Mr. Wendt preceded her in death on February 25, 2009. She is survived by daughter, Linda (James) Rippey of Town of Niagara, NY; son, Gary (Jane) Smith of Ellenton, FL and daughter Bonnie (The Rev. Dr. Ron) Melzer of Tucson, AZ. She is survived by sister, Ruth Laese of Rochester, NY; and brother, Roy (Barbara) Hooper of Tucson, AZ. Survivors also include step-daughters, Sandra (The Rev. Robert) Underwood, Nancy (Ed) McIvor, Carol (Kevin) Hasley and Susan (Bruce) Reiter; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Doris retired from Niagara-Wheatfield School District. She was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1451 having been a member since 1964. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her deep faith, caring heart, faithful friendship and love of family. Doris was well-known as an avid reader. Services in Arizona will be held at Mountain View Lutheran Church in Apache Junction, AZ. She had been living in Greenwich since 2005. She was born to the late Thomas Mileham and Eleanora Andres Mileham on November 28, 1922 in Tonawanda, NY. Marie graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1941. She married the late Donald T. McKinley, Sr. of Picton, Ontario in 1942 and they lived and raised a family together throughout the suburbs of the Greater Buffalo area, as well as other states. Marie was a homemaker. She was an avid traveler, having visited dozens of countries around the world. Marie also had a passion for dogs. She loved her Chihuahua, Toro, and her Siberian Husky, Bo. Marie was very interested in archeology and history. She loved the City of Buffalo and was very proud to have hailed from this area. Marie was an active member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Tonawanda, as well as The Chapel in Amherst. Marie is survived by two children, Cathy J. Minio (Joseph) and David McKinley of Greenwich, CT. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Joseph C. Minio, Jr. of Rye, NY (Alissa), and Dr. Christopher M. Minio of Darien, CT. She is further survived by two great-grandchildren, Mark J. Minio and John P. Minio of Rye, NY. Marie was predeceased by her devoted husband, Donald; her three brothers, James, Robert and Thomas, Jr.; and her two sons, Michael K. McKinley and Donald T. McKinley, Jr. (Judith). In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a charity in her name. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23rd at The Little Chapel of the Elms at Elmlawn Cemetery in Tonawanda. A funeral service will follow in the same chapel at 11:00 AM.
