2522 | VIVIAN'S OBITUARY Vivian Jean (Coble) Schul 05/11/1941–03/06/2024 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 Vivian Jean Schul, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life to her eternal rest on March 6, 2024. Affectionally known by family, friends and neighbors alike as Grandma Jean, Aunt Jeannie, and “neighborhood mom”, Jean conveyed a gentle and quiet spirit which filled hearts with immediate peace and joy. Jean was born in Indiana, PA in 1941 to the late Leah (Deacon) Coble and George Coble. She appreciated every journey back to Pennsylvania to visit family and delighted in the terrain of the foothills and valleys she called home. Predeceased by her selfless and amazing sister, Marian Etta Eichelberger, and beloved brother, Norman Larry Coble, Jean missed them dearly. Extraordinarily, her namesake, Jean (Deacon) Harshberger, beloved aunt of Jean, made her heavenly entrance on March 7th, 2024, at the age of 102. We all think they planned this “divine coincidence”! Though Jean loved all her family, her favorite role was as loving mother to surviving sons, Jonathan Schul and Kevin (Tammy) Schul; Aunt Jeannie to Charlene (Art) Sauer, Jeff Cicio, David Eichelberger, Karen (Don) Pitoniak and Gregory Eichelberger; other beloved nieces and nephews. Grandma Jean greatly treasured the time with her grandkids: Hannah, Sarah, Abigail, Matthew, Benjamin, Stephanie, Ethan, and Andrew. Often playing card games, competing in rounds of Jeopardy, working around the house together, reading books, taking care of her goldfish “Fred”, and going for walks, Jean upheld a beautiful picture of God’s grace to her grandchildren throughout their lives. Grandma Jean’s hugs and words of affirmation were healing and plentiful for us all. Grandma Jean will always be remembered for her unconditional love of all: a great reminder and example to the world of God’s love. We can all learn from her endless patience, gentleness and contentment. On Saturday, April 6th, a celebration of life will be held at Forestview Church of God at 1250 Saunders Settlement Rd, Niagara Falls, NY at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at the family’s convenience in Allport, PA. In lieu of flowers, a memorial offering would be appreciated for Niagara Hospice or the Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission: Niagara Hospice, Inc 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14094 Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission at 1317 Portage Rd, Niagara Falls, NY 14301 | COBLE, Vivian Jean (I59011)

2528 | William "Bill" D. Wilson January 26, 1935 - October 1, 2022 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) D. Wilson, of Niagara Falls, New York. Bill passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on October 1, 2022. Son of Ruth (Thomas)(Murray) McDonnell and Robert Wilson. He was 87 years old, and is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Charlene Ann (Reeh) Wilson, and three children, Donna (Steve) Fournier of Niagara Falls, Lori (Mike) Rozanski of Niagara Falls, and Kevin (Gina) Wilson of Hockessin, Delaware. He was the loving grandfather of Michael Rozanski, Michelle Rozanski, Chelsea Rozanski, Zachary Rozanski, William Fournier, Rachel Fournier, Christopher Wilson and Monica Joy Imbrenda, and twelve great-grandchildren. Family was central to Bill and he loved spending time with them all. Known for his sense of humor, he loved to make his grandchildren and great grandchildren laugh. Bill served in the Navy, then went on to a career with Local 129, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, as a Welder and foreman on countless construction sites in the region. Bill served on the Local’s Executive Committee, and was regarded as a leader of men, instrumental in crafting pension reforms still benefitting members today. Upon retirement, Bill was able to pursue his passion for the arts full time. His notable career as an artist began at Niagara County Community College, where he studied painting, became an apprentice under Canadian portrait painter Thomas Cayley, and studied portrait sculpture under Paul Atkins at SUNY Buffalo. Ultimately, Bill’s talent found its home in sculpture. His work is found throughout the United States, Europe, and Canada, including the Homer Watson Art Museum, jewelry lines for Wedgewood of England, International Silver Company, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museums, in private collections and galleries and exhibits. Bill presided over the Niagara-on-the-Lake Art Society for close to two decades. He generously donated his artwork and time to many non-profit organizations, and taught drawing for sculpture at Niagara University and sculpture techniques in different materials for many arts groups. Bill was especially proud to receive the Burchfield-Penney Art Center ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award. Active in the arts community, Bill was a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and a founding member of the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center (the NACC), home to his studio, where his sculptures have enriched the grounds and galleries for many years. Bill was known as the ‘Herd Doctor’ for the Niagara Council of the Arts’ public art project ‘Herd About Buffalo’, repairing damaged or vandalized buffaloes and contributing several of his own—Elvis, Dr. Jerry, and Bart Simpson. A whimsical, giant 10-foot colorful “Tinker-Toy”-inspired bird adorned the grounds of the Albright Knox Art Gallery. He was commissioned to create sculptures for Snapple Tea Company, WNED, Channel 17 in Buffalo, Sisters of Mercy in Buffalo, and many other organizations and private collections. Bill found beauty and fancy in everyday objects. His generosity with his time and talent was beyond measure. Bill’s sense of humor and gentle, humble spirit will be remembered by the many whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Western New York Artist Group, 1 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY or other local artist organization. 2529 | William "Bill" Earl Phelps Obituary William Earl Phelps of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, died November 20, 2024 after a long and courageous battle to recover from a stroke in May 2023. Bill was born on January 31, 1958 to Robert and Anita Phelps (Sauvageau) in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a devoted son, father, husband, brother, uncle, friend, and a genuine good soul. Bill attended schools in Niagara Falls and was broadly known for his artistic skills. His college career began at Upper Iowa University where his role as the football team photographer became an extension of his love for the arts and the sport. Bill went on to receive his Bachelors of Arts degree from Niagara University’s College of Education. Bill moved to Missouri with his long-time friend now wife, Barbara LaBar in 1998 and made their home in Sunrise Beach. They are proud parents of John Robert. If you knew Bill, you knew of his insatiable thirst for knowledge and sharing that knowledge. There was no such thing as a short conversation with Bill. One of his many cousins, Denise, says he was a very funny, talented, intelligent, and persevering person who advocated for justice and equality in a passionate way that was strong and honest. Child hood memories paint him as a quiet force of goodness and fun. When friends visited his college apartment, they were greeted by a made to scale paper mâché Hobbit Bilbo Baggins! Later in life Bill chose to see the United States by delivering RVs. He dined with the locals at their favorite spots, visited with his many relatives and found opportunities to be a Good Samaritan at each stop. His son John spent an entire summer with Bill on these delivery routes and created many memories to cherish. When the Boy Scout pack needed a leader, Bill embraced that role and more father son memories were created. Absolutely anytime someone needed any type of assistance, Bill was there without hesitation. Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara, son, John Robert, and step son, Barry, brother Michael (Kim), sister Kathy (Sean), Aunt Anne Sauvageau and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Bob and Anita, brothers, Gary and Timothy and Uncles Rene and Ivan Sauvageau. Flowers are respectfully declined. There will be no prior visitation. 2544 | World War II Navy Nurse Aldine Anna Guimond was born February 2, 1917, on a farm near Manteno, Illinois. In September 1936, she entered St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Kankakee. Graduating in 1939, she received her license and began practicing as a private duty nurse in the Kankakee area. On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Eight days later, Aldine was in a recruiting office in Kankakee taking an oath and enrolling in the Navy Nurse Corps. In February 1942, the Navy sent her to Great Lakes Hospital for training. About a week after arriving, she was commissioned an officer. In January 1943, the Navy transferred Ensign Guimond to full-time duty in a dispensary at Crane Naval Ammunition Depot in central Indiana. In March 1944, she was reassigned to the U.S. Naval Hospital in Shoemaker, California, and it was here that she spent the remainder of the war. At Shoemaker she served as a medical ward superintendent with the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade (LTJG, 02). On March 1, 1945, she was promoted to Lieutenant (LT, 03). She had a chance to go to Okinawa, but the war was winding down, and on September 22, 1945, she was released from active duty and returned to Manteno. Instead of staying in Manteno, Aldine came up to Chicago and got a job at Michael Reese. It was in Chicago that she met Gordon Tell Brown. Employed by Zenith, he was a young G.I. who had returned to the States in November 1945 from fighting in Europe. They met at an American Legion dance. They started dating. After three months, Gordon proposed and Aldine accepted. They were married in Manteno on August 20, 1949. The newlyweds started making plans together. They used Gordon's G.I. housing benefits to buy a home at 9747 Lonnquist Drive in Franklin Park. Pregnant with her first child Mary, Aldine decided to give up her commission, and in July of 1950, she sent in her letter of resignation to the U. S. Naval Reserve. She had accomplished much in her young life. There weren't many women in America who had served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. | GUIMOND, Aldine Anna (I361)
