26201 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 8/25/1944 Mrs. Alice Marshall Wilcox, was killed, and her husband, Frank Wilcox, was critically injured in an automobile crash last week when, according to police reports, Ivan James Baxter, 64 Shepard avenue, Kenmore failed to stop for a red light and smashed into the Wilcox car on Delaware avenue near the Kenmore theatre. Mrs. Wilcox died Wednesday at Millard Fillmore hospital in Buffalo, where her husband is confined. Charges of failing to stop lor a red light, criminal negligence, and fleeing the scene of an accident were lodged against Baxter by the Kenmore police. Many friends of the Wilcox family in the Tonawandas will attend funeral services for Mrs. Wilcox at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow from the Bury Funeral Home. 2798 Delaware avenue, Kenmore. 26203 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 8/25/1952 MARRIED 50 YEARS AGO TODAY were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zipp Sr. of 369 Young St. who were guests of honor yesterday at an open house in the home of their daughter, Mrs. William Thiebolt, 580 Broad St. Yellow tapers in golden candlesticks and red and yellow roses centered the buffet table which was adorned with a large anniversary cake. Mr. and Mrs. Zipp were married in Austria Aug. 25, 1902. They have seven children living, 17 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Mr. Zipp worked for the Tonawanda Public Works Department, retiring in 1949. Before that he was employed by the Treat Nantke Lumber Company. Among the 150 attending were out of town guests from Chicago and Buffalo. A lifelong r e s i d e n t of the T o n a w a n d a s , Mrs. Belling lived on Fremont Street, Tonawanda, prior to her marriage. Mr. Belling was born in the Martinsville area and was baptized in St. Martin Church by his grandfather, the Rev. Schroer, who was serving the congregation at that time. Mr. Belling retired from the Richardson Boat Co. in 1959. T h e y have four children: Mrs. John (Leona) Ohlrich of Abingdon, Va., Carl J. (Joyce) Belling of Mt. Leber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Leber of 5 Fremont street, t o Carl H. Belling was solemnized at St. Martin's church on the Niagara Falls boulevard. Rev. Theodore Bemer officiating. Gladioli and asters were effectively used in decorating the church. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of ivory crepe back satin with Spanish ?? and pearl trimming and carried a shower bouquet of bride roses and cypsophelia. Miss Gertrude Belling, s i s t e r of the groom, was maid of honor, wearing orchid georgette over satin. Her arm bouquet was of roses, asters, sweet peas and gypsophetis. The bridesmaids were the Misses Elsie and Lucinda Leber, sisters of the bride, and Miss Ella Belling. They wore gowns of peach, Nile green and yellow georgette over satin with bou- quets similar to Miss Belling's. All the attendants wore gold metal head bands. Joseph Leber, brother of the bride was best man, and the ushers were Carl Leber, Alvin Wurl and John Wilson. The Logengrin wedding march was played by Miss Clara Schrosen of Buffalo and she sang "Hold Thou My Hand." Followingn the ceremony a wedding supper was served at the home of the bride's parents, which was beautifully decorated with gladioli, asters and snapdragons in rainbow colors. Cov- were laid for sixteen at the bride's table which was centered with a large wedding cake. Ninety guests were present. F. A. Hinners officiating at the ceremony la the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. The bridal party entered the church to the strains of Lohengrin's Wedding March," played by Mr. Arnold Nuoffer, organist, and during the ceremony, Mr. Robert Krull sang "The Lord is My Shepard." Given in marriage by her father, the bride was beautiful in ° gown of white faille fashioned with a fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline edged with venise lace, tiny buttons down the back, and leg of mutton sleeves. The full skirt was made with a double row of venise lace forming a peplum effect over the hip line, from which the skirt fell into a long graceful train.
