Born in Tonawanda. Mr. Andres had resided in Tonawanda for the greater part of his life, and had served as an officer with the Tonawanda Police Depart- ment. He was appointed a patrol- man on March 15, 1925, and re- tired Jan. 1, 1947. Mr. Andres was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and the Brother- hood of the church, and was also a member of the Frontier Police Club of Tonawanda. His wife, Vio- let (nee White) died in December, 1950. Surviving are a brother, Fred, of Chicago, Ill., and sev- eral nieces and nephews. 26355 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 8/9/1965 Carl L. Wolgast, a lifelong resident of the Sweet Home area of Amherst and former Sweet Home School Board president, was electrocuted last night when he stepped on a fallen electric wire after a car had struck a power pole in the Town of Amherst. Mr. Wolgast, 38, of 2955 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, apparently tripped on the 4,800-volt line while examining the scene of the accident in Sweet Home Road near Tonawanda Creek Road. The three young occupants of the car, all Amherst residents, were shaken up but apparently escaped serious injury. Robert Guggernost, 19, the driver, Barbara Hughes, 18, and Jacqueline Reeves, 16, his passengers, were examined at Meyer Memorial Hospital. Amherst Police Lt. Donald G. Wright said Mr. Wolgast stepped past a police guard set up on the highway. "I saw him and yelled at him to watch it," Lt. Wright said. "At that moment he came in contact with the wire and went down." Mr. Wolgast was freed when a repair crew from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. cut the line. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Wolgast served on the Sweet Home Central School District Board of Education from 1959 to 1964, including two terms as president. A graduate of North Tonawanda Senior High School, he was active in many civic affairs and was one of the organizers of the Ellicott Creek Civic Association. Mr. Wolgast, an agent for Gold Star Realtors, was the husband of LaVerne Thomsen Wolgast; father of Lawrence, Suzanne, David, Linda and Randy Wolgast, and son of Alice Wehrung and the late Carl A. Military and contracting officials resumed today an in vest igation into the collapse of scaffolding and structural steel at the Lake Ontario ordnance plant which cost the lives of six workmen and critically injured two others. The sixth fatality, Rubin Clarvit, 23, 1591 Fulton street, New York City, was discovered in the debris last night after records showed him missing. Other victims were Louis C. Chavis, Jr., Virgil Fiorentini, Delbert E. Franklin and Thomas Pilato, all of Niagara Falls, N. Y, and Lawrence C. Bingham, Dunkirk, N. Y. The mishap yesterday occurred inside a water tank being erected by the Pre-load Company of Long Island City, according to Lieut William L. Nicholl, Jr., Army Public Relations Officer at the plant. Hils of 448 Bennett St. and Eugene Walter Miliczky of 197 Lin wood Ave. The Rev J. J. Braun performed the ceremony in the chancel which was decorated with tall baskets of whise peonies, vases of white rosea and candelabra. Mies Dorothy Rudniek, soloist, sang "Because" before the ceremony and "The Lord's Prayer" during the ceremony. The organist was Mrs. Glen Warblow. The bride, who carried white orchid on a white prayer book, was attired in a white slipper satin gown with square neckline trimmed with a floral design of seed pearls and long pointed sleeves. The skirt extended into a long train. Her fingertip veil fell from a tiara of beads and seed pearls and she wore a single strand of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Jean Olskey, mald-of-honor, wore a com flower blue gown of dotted taffeta, with off-shoulder neckline and full gored skirt. She carried a colonial bouquet of peach colored roses and white sweetpeas. The bridesmaids were Miss Shirley Martin and Mrs. Howard Ensrninger. They wore similar gowns in peach colored taffeta and carried red roses and white sweet peas. Junior flower girls, the Misses Sallie and Barbara Bach, were attired in blue doited swiss gowns and carried colonial bouquets of sweet peas and roses. George Miiiczky attended as best man and the ushers John Hila and Joseph Milton. An aqua crepe and lace dress and a corsage of yellow roses were worn by the bride's mother who completed her ensemble with white accessories. The bridegroom's mother chose navy crepe, white accessories and a corsage of red roses. A reception, with 300 guests attending, was held in Ukranian Hall The table wag centered with a tiered wedding cake and vases of white and pink peonies. David Maclnnes, pastor of the Lafayette Presbyterian church, performed the ceremony, which took place in front of the fireplace, which was banked with ferns, palms and salmon colored gladiolias in large urns. The rooms throughout the house were decorated with various colored chrysanthemums and other fall flowers. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of wine colored crepe, trimmed with gold and carried a sheath bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums. The bride's mother was attired in a gown of mahogany crepe with brown accessories and wore a corsage of yellow roses. The groom's mother wore a royal blue crepe gown with a corsage of gardenias. A reception and tea for fifty guests followed the ceremony. The buffet tea table was covered with a lace cloth and centered with a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums in a silver bowl, flanked by tall yellow tapers in silver candelabra. Miss Emily Tothill, sister of the bride and Miss Mary Ackerson, sister of the groom, presided at the urns. Guests were present from Albany, Syracuse, Olean, Gasport, Lockport, Niagara Falls, Buffalo and the Tonawandas. Batt, was lovely in crystal velvet Ivory, her illusion veil arranged in halo effect crown, and she carried a bouquet of white Johanna Hill roses, baby pom poms and baby breath. Miss Doris C. Glenn, maid of honor, her only attendant wore gold velvet with brown accessories and her bouquet was of yellow Johanna Hill roses and baby mums. Little Patricia M. Batt, niece of the bride was flower girl and wore baby blue georgette crepe and head band to match, also a baby pearl necklace a gift from the bride. Her basket was filled with roses, delphinium and baby breath. Mr. George B. Quinlan, brother of the groom, acted as best man and Messrs. Joseph D. Berhalter and William J. Robillard acted as ushers. 26399 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 9/12/1944 A quiet but impressive early Fall wedding was solemnized on Saturday, September 9, 1944 at 3 p.m. at Salem Church, Mor- gan Street, Tonawanda, when Miss Virginia Woodrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Woodrich, be- came the bride of Private, First Class George h. lang, United States Army Medical Corps, son of Mrs. Margaret Lang of Bow- mansville. The church was beautifully dec- orated with palms and altar vases of white gladioli. The only light was that from the candles on the altar and at each window in the church. The Reverend Walter Het- tel officiated at the double ring ceremony, and Miss Carrie Os- wald, organist, played the wed- ding marches and other music. During the ceremmony, Mrs. M. Love sang "I Love You Truly." The bride was lovely in her gown of ivory satin and Chan- tilly lace. The sweetheart neck- line was edged with seed pearls, and there were iny covered but- tons from the enckline to below the waist in back. The long tight- fitting sleeves came to points over her wrists. The lace was used on the skirt, and it also edged the long, circular train of the gown. Her finger-tip veil of illusion fell from a tiara of pearl orange blos- soms and she wore a double strand of pearls, a gift from the groom. Her colonial shower bou- quet consisted of bridal roses, white gladiola tips, and just a touch of tiny blue flowers. Miss Betty woodrich was maid of honor for her cousin and her only attendant. She chose an em- erald green velveteen gown which had a sweetheart heckline with tiny covered buttons to the waist. The full skirt had a very slight train. She wore an antique gold locket, which was sent to her from England. In her hair, she wore an arrangement of matching ostrich tips. Her colonial bouquet was of pale yellow gladiola tips. Mr. Elton Love, brother-in-law of the groom, acted as best man in the absence of the bride's brother, Sergeant Robert W. Woodrich, who is stationed in Italy with the United States Army Signal Corps. The bride's mother selected a soldier blue afternoon dress with matching accessories. Mrs. Lang, the mother of the groom, wore a grey wool suit, also with matching accessories. Both wore corsages of mixed flowers. Following the ceremony, a small reception for the immediate families was held at the home of the bride's parents. The young couple have left on a short wedding trip, the bride wearing a blue two-piece suit with grey Persian trim. At the conclusion of his furlough, the groom will return to his post, and the bride will remain with her parents. Pfc. George H.
