He was a well-respected member of the Tonawanda Business Community. He was the son of the late Franklin and Elaine (Flanagan) Zellner. He is survived by his companion Brenda Portner. Beloved father of Brian (Lisa) Zellner, Danielle (Mike) Smith, Thomas Zellner, Eric Zellner, Rochelle Zellner, and the late Marc Zellner. Grandfather of 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Born in Niagara Falls, New York the son of the late Thomas B. and Gladys (Bryan) Adamec, Sr. He attended local schools and was a graduate of the former LaSalle Sr. High School. Bud was a proud Methodist, enjoying attending church regularly. He also loved hunting and fishing, especially in Andover, NY at his cousin’s cabin, Mike Bryan. He also enjoyed visits to Alleghany State Park. Bud worked for First Source as a Supervisor. He is survived by three children, Thomas B. Adamec, III (Dawn) of Niagara Falls; Timothy W. Adamec (Jill) of Hackettstown, NJ and Amber L. 26453 | Thomas's Story Thomas Donald McArthur, 90, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Heartland Rehabilitation Center. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Thomas and Edna McArthur, and his wife Mary A. Luberti. Born October 15, 1925, in Lockport, New York is where he was raised with his brother. It was there where he was employed with Bell Aircraft where he worked on Rockets. He then pursued an Engineering Career with General Motors Company with whom he retired. Thomas served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married his wife Mary in 1953. In 1975 he and his wife moved to Florida. Throughout his life he had a passion for woodworking which is present in the furniture and items he crafted over the years. Thomas is survived by his four children; Diana McDaniel, Donald Thomas McArthur, Sue M. Vasquez (Luis), and Lisa A. Hermensen (Michael), and his brother Alex McArthur (Esther). Also surviving Thomas are his three grandchildren; Mac (Lisa) and Brandon McDaniel and Theresa Shaw (Jason), and three Great Grandchildren; Gabrielle, Victoria and Cherish. Tim leaves behind his wife, Kathleen Veit Haseley; his three children, Sean Haseley (Molly), Kristin Haseley and Allison Powell (Bryan), as well as his three stepchildren, Chad Blankenship (Tara), Nicole Blankenship and Shawn Blankenship. Tim also leaves behind his brother Paul Haseley (Doris) and sister, Nancy Haseley Nabholz (Rich). Tim was prece3ded in death by his parents Herbert and Hazel (Ecker) Haseley and his brothers, David and Carl Haseley. Tim took on many different titles and roles in his life; Son, brother, Dad, Grandpa, husband, stepdad, uncle, coach, Basketball commentator, golfer, cyclist, authority on all things Butler Basketball, super fan of his kids. No matter what title he was wearing, one thing was true, he was a Gentle Giant. Being a 6'8" Indiana High School Basketball stand-out, Tim earned a scholarship to play at Butler University from 1981-1985. Tim married his wife Kati in 2007 and instantly became a perfect piece of their family. He provided fatherly guidance when asked or needed, but as usual with Tim, he preferred to have fun. He enjoyed his deep conversations and banter with Shawn. As Chad and Tara began to have children, a new spark ignited in Tim as he got to experience being a grand[a. He will be remembered for his competitive and fun spirit, challenging his oldest granddaughters to backyard batting cage competitions, and enjoying rounds of golf with Chad. He always looked forward to visiting Destin, especially when Nicki was going to be there. To hear the two of them laugh together was enough to brighten any mood. Tim will be missed by the entire Veit family and his laughter will live on anytime there is a gathering. Sadly, Tina and her sisters, Shelly and JoAnn parents passed away at a young age, Sharleen in 1988 and Joseph in 2010. Tina was a graduate of the former LaSalle Senior High School in 1989. She furthered her education receiving her BA in Criminal Justice at Niagara University. She was employed as a corrections officer at the Albion Correctional Facility. Tina re-connected with the Lord. She was a devote member of Lighthouse Women and Children’s Center (Formerly the Magdalene Project). There and the Heart, Love and Soul Food Kitchen. She loved to volunteer, helping any way she was able. It was at the Lighthouse Women’s and Children’s Center where she met a dear friend and mentor, Joanne Lorenzo along with many other friends and associates. When she was not working or volunteering, Tina enjoyed a good game of euchre or poker with family and friends along with an occasional outing to the casino. She is survived by her two sisters, Shelly (Nino) Ramseyer; JoAnn (Gary) Bradley; stepbrother, Jason Wittcop; her dear niece, Nicole DiRamio and nephews, Dylan, Trevor and Chase Bradley; great niece and nephew, Bailee Mae and Brayden; aunts, Roberta Sitzman and Karen Rambach. Todd worked for General Motors as a machine repair maintenance journeyman and then a foreman. He then worked at American Axle as a foreman retiring in 2006. Todd was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Old Falls Blvd. and was very active in helping to maintain the Church and the Church Cemetery. He was a member of Rescue Fire Co. #5 for forty-five years and a trustee, member of the Volunteer Firemen’s Benevolent Association and member of the NRA. Todd always was busy fixing or making something and willing to lend a hand when needed. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed the time he spent on his property in the Southern tier with his family and especially archery hunting with his sons. No prior visitation. She cherished all their years together. He leaves behind special children whom he regarded as his own Ciara, Sylvannah, Chaisey, Chanler, Jayden, and Erin. Playing base guitar for many popular bands eventually taking his career to Boston. He had his own recording studio “Diamond Dog Studios” here in Lockport. He owned Kaiser Tile and K-TNT. He loved bowling and was taught at the age of 7 by Allie Brandt. His other passions were boating, driving his Super Bee and his motorcycles, and playing golf. Most of all he loved making memories at “the property”. He’ll be missed by so many cherished friends and family and especially his loving wife. He liked working with the latest technology, an amateur videographer, he created videos for NTHS Drama Club performances and the choral department’s Cabarets. He always found working with the kids to be rewarding and fun. Tom took pleasure in spending time with his wife, camping, walking, going out for dinner or just talking and sharing life’s ups and downs. He adored his children and delighted in their accomplishments. He felt it was a blessing to spend time with his 5 granddaughters, taking them on adventures or just hanging out. 26480 | Tompkins, Henry S., was born February 3, 1848, at Niagara Falls, N. Y., and is a son of the late Samuel Tompkins of that place. Henry S. Tompkins attended the public schools of his native town, until twenty years of age, when he entered the works of his father at La Salle to learn the manufacture of building brick, which he has chosen for his life vocation. He is also engaged in farming and fruit growing, owning a farm of fifty acres adjoining his brick kiln and works, and has a large orchard of 1,100 finely grafted fruit trees. Mr. Tompkins is a man of sterling worth, and has been eminently successful in his business operations. He has served the town of Niagara, where his business is located, for many years in various capacities, having been a justice of the peace for nineteen years, and was elected supervisor of his township in 1895 to serve for two years, and re-elected in 1897 for the same period of time. He has also served as assessor for three years, and as a member of the Board of School Trustees for twenty-five years, and justly deserves the high esteem in which he is held by his townsmen. She also had loving nicknames for her favorite people. She loved going on the WNY Paranormal Society's outings and to Bandits' and Sabres' games. 26497 | TONAWANDA EVENING NEWS, OCTOBER 17,1921 Mrs. Wilhelmina Karkow Mrs. Wilhelmina Karkow, 72, died yesterday morning at her home, 2 Duluth avenue, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Karkow was born in Germany. At the age of three, she came to America to live. The last forty years of her life were spent in the Tonawandas. Surviving are a husband, William Karkow, one daughter, Mrs. Mandus Camp, two sons, Charles and Fred Benz, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, all of the Tonawandas; two sisters, Mrs. E. H. Holway of Belleville, N. J., and Mrs. Ernest C. Berndt of Tonawanda. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home of Mr. Camp, 152 Sweeney street, Rev. 26498 | Tonawanda News Arnold W. Proefrock, 93, of the Town of Wheatfield, Friday (July 21, 1995) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Proefrock was a former thirty-five year old employee of Bell Aircraft, retiring in 1964 and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. He was the husband of the late Margaret (nee Pfanner) Proefrock. He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy (Paul) Chapman of the Town of Wheatfield and Sally (John) Ferguson of the Town of Amherst; a son, Robert (Mary) Proefrock of the Town of Wheatfield; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver Street at Ward Road in North Tonawanda, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. The funeral will be held from the house at 1:30 and at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from Freiden's (sic) church at Vandervoort and Schenk streets., Rev. Haum (Haupt??) officiating.
